PONCIONE D'ALNASCA - LEAP OF FAITH

The south wall of Poncione d’Alnasca is a true hidden gem in the Swiss Alps. An impressive smooth, vertical granite wall more than 500 meters high makes it the rightful queen of the Ticino climbs. A real challenge for any climber, with a series of complex pitches that would make anyone apprehensive.
Matteo della Bordella began to develop his route on the south wall of Poncione in 2015 but was unable to complete the climb. The last pitch in particular, rated 8a+, requires a real “leap of faith” (hence the name of the route) to overcome the central abyss and the lack of holds.
But Matteo is willing to make another attempt, and he asks his friend Alessandro Zeni for help. The goal is to close the circle after all these years and to climb one of the most imposing walls in Europe.

At 9:07 the fingers are way too relaxed and casual on the brake end of the rope. He also gets too close to the belay device. Form a proper ring with the thumb and index fingers and always be ready to grab the rope. At 10:19 the belayer is changing something at the belay station and keeps the hand above the belay device all the time.
