I totally agree, way to put yourself in maximum danger during a recovery. The winch operator should have moved the idiot away before they started to pull. Possible Darwin award here.
@@geoffturner5347 That so-called idiot was part of the tow-truck crew. I actually think he was pretty safe, being pretty far out-of-line with the cable (the cable was sharply angled downward and it would have rocketed into the bottom edge of the bumper if it broke), but of course it's best to be extra sure about safety and be even farther out of the way than what this guy was.
When you see green blue water it’s way over three feet deep. Just because it was passible last year doesn’t mean it’s ok this year. Never drive into moving water that’s over your tires
How the owner feels like he should be on top of the truck while being pulled out because he knows what he's doing is contradicting to the reason behind the tow truck!
That guy was not the owner. He was part of the tow-truck crew. The owner would not have known how to shout instructions to the winch operator the way this guy did. I believe he went inside the truck to ensure the transmission wasn't in 'Park' and that the front wheels were pointed straight, and then he just climbed on top to keep track of progress.
Ohhh the mighty slate gets another one!!!! So many of these through the years !!! Gotta know how to cross water ! And know the line !!! It’s always changing!!!!
No, that wasn't the driver who was out there. That guy was part of the tow-truck crew. The truck's owner would not have known how to shout specific instructions for running the winch or to ask the operator if the control lever was pulled "all the way" to select maximum speed.
How to ruin a camper truck! Obviously much deeper than it appeared. And I would guess little, to no, traction on that gravel once you get into it so backing out probably was a "no go".
Correct. There is a walking bridge that crosses the slate river. It is wide/string enough for bikes/hikers. But clearly not big enough for vehicles....
This person made a huge mistake . They confused distance for the right way . Never try to cross at a bend in a river . The same amount of water has the flow by . The only way it can is if it’s 60 percent deeper . This person never played in a creek as a child .
WHATEVER the reason this truck is there.....everyone seems to be enjoying the excitement even the video guy laughing at the man in peril instead of helping him! Wonder how he feels all the dumb ass people just sitting n watching n drinking n laughing as he's going thru hell.... Brotherly Love...
Did this video recently get posted to a social media community? It's seen a big surge in viewership since its original posting last summer.
Can’t answer that but it got picked up by my algorithm.
Love the people in the chairs enjoying the show, pass me another beer please.
I like the two guy’s in the lawn chairs watching this fiasco probably drinking beer .
The peanut gallery on both sides and the beautiful surrounding scenery make this the best 'consequences' video for new overlanders.
okay kids and todays lesson is on natural selection, here we have our first example!🤣
This video should be a training film on doing absolutely everything wrong during a river crossing, and then everything wrong in a recovery. Yikes.
Yeah ALWAYS put your hazards on!
River -1
Moron-0
Whats wrong about it, they got it out

I love the conversation between the dad and daughter. So wholesome. Glad that guy saved his truck.
Thank you! 😀
I like the two people on the gravel bar watching from their folding chairs!😊
The darker green water should have been a clue its deep.
@@captseamus Just for fun, I would have walked up next to those two with a white towel draped over my arm and ask to take their drink orders!
Jamie from MythBusters would have been smart enough to use the bridge! 😂

Those people setting down in their chair 🪑 enjoying the show awesome 👏
I like the couple downstream. Just kicking back and enjoying the show.
This is how you win the Darwin Award.
Sooooo many questions about this whole video!! How in the world could this happen to any adult???
Easy
Same reason that trump became a potus
I'm guessing Darwin Award level stupid.
I like how folks make an outing of it - bring along a picnic, a few beers, sit and enjoy the side show lol
Top left........the best free SPOT I've seen in my life hahahaha

I sure hope his insurance company saw this before payment!
Такой "отдых" будет незабываемый и запомнится на всю жизнь.
Used car salesman said it was an amphibious vehicle.
This should be very encouraging for those folk that drive around with those RIDICULOUS air snorkels that they will never need or use.
Snorkel was TOO SHORT😂
Those trucks are made for the PAVEMENT. What a Rookie. 🤣
Sure looked like a bridge to the right, where all the crowd was watching from.
its a pedestrian bridge to a hiking / MTB only nature preserve
He rehearsed for amazonas

Slowest winch in the west.
Who was the U-boat captain who thought this was a good idea , 😂😂😂
Apparently there wasn't much for folks to do at that particular spot on that particular day?
more money then brains.
"So many questions my little grasshopper."
For Sale - Used pickup with camper. Very clean!
Recent deep cleaning washing!
Hold my beer...
Well the gps said to go this way.
I think the best part is that the camper is probably worth more than the truck.
I quipped that the solar panels on top are now the most valuable thing on this truck/camper.
Those Tundras ain’t cheap
@@procowboy1722I had a 2007 double cab limited 5.7. I got $20,600 for it last April 👍

Hey Paw, is dat one of them boat trucks?
Have you not heard of the "Triangle of Death"? Never, Never, Never stand between vehicles being pulled by anything!😮
I wonder what would happen if one of musks E vehicle crap ended up in the creek.
I would love to see 😂
Till the rivers all run dry
Till the sun falls from the sky
Till life on earth is through

Is it clean now?
Guy ruined his truck and then tried to get killed by poor winch safety. This dude just wanted to be a statistic.

How did the vehicle get stuck there?
Wooow, crazy stuff sorry but the view is beautiful 🤝😎
Say no to drugs
Toyota Tundra with camper, low mileage and very clean . 😂
Manure for brains
Not sure what this person was thinking? Doesn't even look like he had a snorkel on his truck!
That's one way to get a truck and camper wash in one😂
"Hey , I think it's to deep here ? " No it's not Idiot, Hold my beer"
And is a tundra how sad those are hard to find already
Am I missing something or is there a bridge right across the river?
Manure for brains.
Yer not sposta Park there .... I spit my drink across the table....lol
So the video was taken from a bridge, was it?
Correct. There is a walking bridge that crosses the slate river. It is wide/string enough for bikes/hikers. But clearly not big enough for vehicles....
If you can't walk through it, don't drive through it.
hahaha this jackass thought he could drive through 5 feet of raging river!
I bet that made the game wardens happy
What was he thinking when he got into that river?
Possibly the dumbest driver ever
How was the driver of that truck smart enough to pass a drivers license test? Or was he?
Yup!!..it's flooded!😅
When fishing, you have to go where the fish are.
New style river RV boat truck.
Y would you camp there?🤷♂️😂😂😂😂
Remember, if you can't afford a Ford to ford a river, take another path.
Looked like a Toyota to me.. 🤷♂️
I want to see the video of how he found that parking spot.
Would have been nice to have seen what was doing all the work.
TRD - Turd Rusting Daily!!!
3:45 is that person waiting to see what happens if the cable snaps?
Maybe I missed it but I'm tired of looking how in the world did you get there in the first place
Nenávidím čumily, jak si užívají cizí neštěstí.
Still waters run deep.
This is completely stupid 😅😅😅😅😅 show this to the insurance company, hope they don't pay for stupid

Just a look across the river if there's no trail coming out, don't go in, it's called common sense.
How in the world did he get it that far into the river
It does drop off pretty quick, but they clearly didn't scout ahead or even just pay attention to the differences in the river.
Trying to cross, I assume.
Momentum / Current / Determination
The holy trinity . . .
☆
One would think he should have swam/wadded across it first BEFORE driving across it
he went for it! geronimo!!
Это подводная лодка ?
Why did he try to cross that anyways?
That’s gotta be an expensive car wash.
Sad. Is it just me or did I see a bridge to the right he could have taken? Being an old time 4 wheeler, we'd check water depth before we'd ford.
Just a shame cars don't come with common sense 😂😂😂
I dont think they can park there
WHATEVER the reason this truck is there.....everyone seems to be enjoying the excitement even the video guy laughing at the man in peril instead of helping him! Wonder how he feels all the dumb ass people just sitting n watching n drinking n laughing as he's going thru hell.... Brotherly Love...
I was so bored that I decided to heat things up
I usually wash my truck in the driveway.
I mean what the f**k was he trying to prove anyways , did he not check before even trying that
Heck of a place to set up camp
