    Honestly you didn't explain why it wasn't a pyramid scheme, you showed other successful people saying why is good vs my neighbor, I think it could have been a way better explanation.

      r4wr_sama:D if you are selling services or products through multi level compensation plan its network marketing.
      If people only invest through multi level compensation plan and they do not receive any services or products its pyramid scheme.
      Network marketing companies always have services, digital services or products.Thats why they are all ok. :)

      I'm sorry my explanation wasn't good enough for you. I may update this video and maybe I'll do a better job. Since Warren Buffet has come out in support of network marketing, (he owns a number of network marketing companies himself), as well as other respected leaders especially in Asia, I have more information I can offer. I'll try and do another one soon.

      the reason they said pyramid scam, because only less than 1 percent earning and 99 percent will loose money no matter what you do, it is a systematic pyramid scam.

    Hi Darin! I recently found your videos and really appreciate your education. Can you address the specific point about there only being 14 cycles of recruiting before you reach the entire world population? From Wikipedia: "Assuming the blue individual recruits five, and those five recruit their own five, and so on, the maximum theoretical cycles of recruits possible in the "downline" of the blue individual is 14 cycles (514 = 6.1 billion people), after which point the total human population is exceeded." John Oliver popularized this concept in an MLM skeptical video and I keep hearing people use this as an objection and an arguing point as to why the business model is not sustainable. I work in a Network Marketing company I absolutely love, but I must admit that the intellectual side of my brain battles with this as well. Appreciate any help or insight - thanks!

    It's amazing how almost every corporate organisation, whether it be not for profit, or for profit, has a pyramid structure. As others have already said in the comments, if there's a real product involved it's not an illegal pyramid scheme

      So true Paul. I'm always amazed at how many people complain about these large corporation CEOs making millions of dollars while the people below them work 80 hours on a flat fee. I guess it's a matter of, "Don't let the facts get in the way of your beliefs!"

    • @darinkidd
      @darinkidd  Pƙed 6 lety

      Ponzi schemes may be worth a video...I'll add this to my video training schedule. In general though, the SEC has really cracked down on those (www.sec.gov/fast-answers/answersponzihtm.html) and they aren't very prevalent anymore in our industry. They are more common in financial investing where people are guaranteed high returns.

    @MeraKristina Pƙed 4 lety +1

    Just because something is able to exist and be successful DOES NOT mean it is legal. Drug dealers still exist and are making lots of money. Drug dealing is still illegal. It's ability to exist doesn't mean it is legal. ALSO people speaking of MLM's in positive light does not automatically mean it is not a pyramid scheme. To make an analogy, people spoke GLADLY in support of slavery in the past, it didn't mean that it was the right code of conduct. I use that as an example simply to illustrate that just because something may be accepted by some, or all, parts of society at the moment does not inherently mean it is the right thing to be doing. The reality of MLM's is that a lot of people loose loads of money buying into it.
    You honestly did not make any proper argument as to why it is not a pyramid scheme, but rather explained yourself away by stating how many people are in it, or who supports it. This says nothing about the actual STRUCTURE of an MLM, but rather avoids the question. Pyramid schemes are largely based of recruiting people, that is where the main income lies, which from my research IS EXACTLY THE CASE WITH MLMs. HENCE it is a pyramid scheme...
    Perhaps try providing some income disclosure statements and talk about the actual structure of MLM's in the next video. Prove that most of the business is NOT based of recruiting people. Because as of yet I have not found any proof of this. I'd be glad to be proved wrong.
    Also may I add, YOU ARE REFERENCING DONALD TRUMP? Hello!? The fact that you actually reference such a person, speaks words. Just gonna leave it at that. That man is an embarrassment to your country (speaking from the perspective of a Scandinavian.) I'm baffled that Americans ACTUALLY look up to this man. My God....
    Also, cue all the dislikes from all the huns

    Okay, to clarify this for everyone.... A pyramid scheme is not the same as MLM. A Pyramid scheme is when someone does not have a product or something along those lines for others to consume. MLM has products and is not a scam ( it’s direct sales, sort of like buying from a small business that receives its products from a larger company).

      Nishit you are so right! You want to see a pyramid scheme where only the top has success? Look at corporate America! Name any large business. Walmart, McDonalds, Microsoft...the further you go up, the more they make. In Network Marketing you make what you put in. If you work 70 hour weeks at a corporate job, the company benefits and you may get some overtime. If you work 70 hours in Network Marketing, you get the fruits of whatever you work. Love it!

Most people who join a gym quit. Most people who have a job have MANY career changes during their working career. The odds of getting your money back and making profits a so much greater in Network Marketing than most business’s or franchises I’ve seen.
      I’m curious
 what’s your background? What do you do for work?
