Comparing Ren to the Motown legend Smokey is such a perfect accolade and for me spot on! This is without doubt one of the best Retakes I have ever heard, Great choice and reaction. Ren with Molly McKinna doing " Penitence " is so deep and soulful, a must and such an underrated track.

A few things about our much loved Ren. He was signed to Sony records in his late teens but they had to part ways before the album could be completed due to him getting very sick. He has Lyme disease but it was misdiagnosed for such a long time that it’s caused irreparable damage to his body and brain. Without wanting to come off as an unsympathetic person I believe had this not happened to him we wouldn’t have the Ren we have now. He had tried many treatments one that went very wrong and sent him into psychosis for 3 months. He is to many people that once in a lifetime artist, there really is no one out there doing what he’s doing. He has a huge personal back catalogue but also with a band he was in called The Big Push.
Hope this helps a little bit, enjoy the rabbit hole you’ve just stepped in to. Ren fans are so passionate and they just soak up and support every new creator that checks him out. So without doubt they will be along and your subscribers will grow.
Another great reaction! First time I heard it I got Motown vibes. It's one of my favorite live performances from him. Most of his music videos are one shot many are live. Doesn't sound like the same artist that did Halftime.

When I watched this video premiere, as soon as Ren began singing I thought he had really nice Smokey vibes going on. Afterwards, I began watching a bunch of reactions and was really shocked that no one was mentioning Smokey. Even now you are only the second reactor I've seen mention him. Later in the song when he starts rapping everyone talks about the Angelina Jolie/Tomb Raider and Ocarina of Time/Zelda references, but very few mention the Tuna Turner reference that comes before them. I guess it's because many of the reactors are younger than I am. But it makes me sad to see that so many don't seem to know these two amazing artists. I'm very happy to see that you do. I hope others will watch your video and if they don't know Smokey Robinson and Tina Turner, they'll go check them out. Have a great day!

I love Smokey AND Sting and definitely get the comparison and it IS warranted. Ren is amazing. ‘Back on 74’ is by the Band Jungle who are also amazing. The original lead vocal is by a woman (sorry I don’t know her name), the pitch match is spot on and impressive. Ren is an all around musical powerhouse. Please check out his other stuff AND Jungle. Very few modern artists grab my attention like all of them. Great reaction. (Brandi Carlie and Billie Eilish are the only other two modern vocalists that instantly snagged my attention when I first heard them live a few years back. Different genres but SAME vibe)
