      @@skipdk Indeed. You look at young kids in their first couple of years at school, mixing, playing with other kids from different backgrounds, colours or creed, and there are no barriers. They just get on and have fun. Its as they grow up and see that adults get away with it, that they then start to emulate that behaviour, and the cycle goes on. Education is paramount in order to stop this, and sorting out social media.

I go to my son’s daycare everyday (here in Canada where we have people from all racial backgrounds) and I don’t see it among the kids. I think walking off the pitch cancelling the game, replaying it with no fans in the stadium would be good, they can also look at points deduction, maybe 1 point deduction for racism and as someone mentioned below publicly shame those who do it, no point protecting them. The problem with what Raheem Sterling said is that when he said "try win the game to hurt them".. what if you don't win or a black player doesn't score? then it leaves those racists laughing even more.

Just pitiful fines, and partial stadium closures and matches played behind closed doors given out by football governing bodies and nothing from the criminal justice departments.

Gary Neville says things how they are, straight talking, no bs and speaks from a place of honesty and respect. The punishment NEEDS to be sufficient enough that nations will stop it. My view is that there are loads of black players in football now, yet only a certain few in the Premier League ever suffer it, and maybe that says something about the public perception of these players. Ashley Cole and Raheem Sterling get abuse, but not Paul Pogba, Fred or Andros Townsend. If you watch games in parts of Europe then there is more of a problem which gives me hope that the UK, despite Brexit and stories of intolerance, is not as bad as we think.

Just because some black players don't go around telling you they've been abused doesn't mean they aren't. It just means that they're not saying anything, and very often they're not saying anything because they're afraid to. Sadly, your opinion is part of the problem. I like how Sterling doesn't walk off the pitch like a coward and just continues to play, which is what you should do; however I disagree with all this attention brought-up about racism, it's not about racism, it's about the opposition fans trying to get into a players head and racism seems to be the only way they can do that.

    Sterling needs to man up, I’ve been racially abused on a few occasions but I didn’t go crying about it, it made me stronger if anything, racism will never just stop there is always going to be a a minority of people who are are stupid and act that way. you could call me any name under the sun if I were on 200k a week and a footballer

    • @TB-bj4dq
      @TB-bj4dq Před 5 lety +5

      200k or not these players are humans before anything else. They're children watch them play and they shouldn't have to wonder why their dad is being abused because he has black skin. It's easy to say when you're not in their position. But no money in the world makes up for being treated as sub-human

      @MrCraig883 Před 5 lety +4

      I am sorry that you were abused. Don't you think though, that a young black man who has a platform and voice that people in power have to hear should use it to help those who, like yourself have had to put up with racism without having the power to stop it?

    I feel the punishment should be clubs/countries being banned from competitions. Broadcasting rights being taken away and stadium bans. From Clubs point of view is giving those fans lifetime bans from their stadiums. I feel fans and clubs will only learn with harsh punishment.
