I got pretty good at DCS, if I do say so, myself haha. Had around 5500 hours in it (loser, I know, but it became addicting). I got to fly in some formations. It's definitely one of the hardest things to do in that. However, I learned that if everyone is good, all you have to do is match the guy in front of you. Easier said than done but with enough practice, anyone can do anything. It was one of the most rewarding feelings in-game that you could have lol.
I've done a little formation flying in VTOL VR, and I must say it's pretty hard. For me, it's easy enough to follow the lead target, but matching speed is where things fall apart.
this is what people get wrong about formation flying, minimse communications and concentrate on flying your plane. All it takes is replicating lead's maneuvers
Formation flying is awesome. I was in the Swiss jet Team for years when they were still on MSFSX. It was so laggy back then. DCS is a dream for this kind of stuff. They still fly relentlessly with the FA-18. I am watchign their performance from time to time on Dominic Kellers channel.
Watch any clip of the Red Arrows or Blue Angels with their coms and they will have an idea of the amount of communication and practice required for these types of formations.

Multi boxing is when you use one set of peripherals (mouse, keyboard, flight controls, etc.) to control more than one computer. He’s saying the guy in the rear is so good it looks like it’s one guy controlling both jets with the same inputs.

Awesome precision. Is there a proper way to setup your joystick? I tried getting a logitech force 3d pro thinking it'll be better for space sims since it has no deadzone (I got a G20 wheel earlier and the zero deadzone helped a lot with precision driving), but when i tried flying with the stick i still kept overshooting and i can't hit anything with the gun. Does having the rudders on your feet instead of the stick twist make a difference?
What ever u comfortable with is my advice. a Stick with an extension works better for precision, but that is also debatable. In the end of the day, practice, practice, practice

I think it is only 2 Pilots because the plane in the front and the back are clearly locked the one on the out side is the only plane flying in formation.
@@panthera1536 the other 2 planes look normal real players you do know you can dupe the flight so you can build up a scene.... one guy can fly all places and record the flight tracks and stack them.
Looks that way because the camera is locked on the middle guy, so all his moves make the other two appear in perfect unison. Definitely some wiggle between front and back though.

Sadly, humans wont be flying in person like this in a few generations. FPV and AI looks like the future of combat. The same way racing drone pilots are incredible at flying in Battlefield 4 the inverse is also true.
Im pretty sure slot 1 and slot 3 are just copies of each other.. on is just a graphic copy of the in-game player.. I mean look at the exact copyinp of the instability buffeting.
I love the idea of these guys calling up each other like "bro you busy?" and then just do hard af formation stuff just for fun.
