I'd like to make something like this for my 6yo handicap nephew. What suggestions would you have for modifying it for this situation.
If he's 6 you'll need to scale it up a bit. I would say about 25-30% larger. Looking at kids strider bikes for 6yrs old, they have a seat height of 18"-22" tall. So scale the dog up to where the seat is 18"--20". The wheels I used are 120mm (in description). You might use these 200mm taller wheels ( a.co/d/3rQCRSw ) for more stability, not sure it's needed, maybe just at the front? You could also widen up the front a bit with a spacer (double the wood up there, add a plastic spacer over the axle, something). Lastly if he has some difficulty holding onto it you could add an adjustable strap above each handle, so his hands fit between the strap and the handle. I hope that helps. You can also email me and we can do a Zoom call, my email is on my website settewongse.com
Dang, that paint job is glossy!
I figured it would have been a cat.
That'll be version 2.0 with steering.
