- UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman speaks out for the first time since saving his parents from a house fire. Coleman says he has been released from the hospital but is currently dealing with pneumonia from the effects of the house fire. He thanks the fire fighters, the hospital staff and sends love to his dog hammer who he sadly wasn't able to save.

I’ve been a fan of you since I saw you lose to my favorite fighter at the time, Fedor Emelianenko. After the fight, you immediately gave Fedor his respect, you promised to return, and then you embraced your weeping little daughters who rushed to be at your side. The whole scene exhibited every phase of masculinity that separates men from boys: Knowing how to fight with all your might, knowing how to win or lose with grace, respecting your adversaries, vowing to fight again after painful defeat, and keeping close the main reason that men sacrifice and endure pain: We want to protect and provide for the people we love. We want to be their hero. You are one of the few living men who I would follow into battle without hesitation. I love you Mark. You continue to inspire me and I’m beyond grateful that you’re still with us. I pray that you experience an incredible healing of both body and heart, and I look forward to following your recovery as much as you allow. RIP Hammer.

I recall having to rent a VHS of the early days of the UFC which was kept in a recycled pineapple box on a table just outside the adult section guarded by cheesy saloon doors. I was so scared of you! But today having gotten to see you in real time, I realize was what a true gentleman and hero you are. I bet Hammer is besting Dan Severen's dog as we speak.

🙌🏽🖤💯 we crossed paths at OSU. I was the other half of the crew that was bangin out grow rooms when you were coaching at OSU. The Hans the one who is Tobos older brother came through us. Couldn’t believe how large of a human being you were and when I looked at my damn Burger King cup the Olympic colored cups weee out and you were on it.
Too see you go from OSU and being early in the cannabis game to the UFC and then after snd your open book story has been great brother. I’m so happy you can have the joy of your parents to help at least ease the pain of losing Hammer. I’ve not seen Hammer but know he was a working dog. He alerted and saved the family and did a helluva job keeping himself as peaceful as he could. He was meant for you and your family for this part of your life. Sad it was so soon but he was the definition of our 4 legged companion heroes. Hopefully you will heal enough to find another companion to share your future with.
