@@Eli-Hokiesfandunno why not… they did nothing this season but get better each game and the big plays compounded over time. They locked up all of their portal eligible players, so this team is gunna be together another year. Gunna be fun to watch them next season.
Virginia Tech under the radar has an opportunity to have a nice season next year.
21 of 22 starters coming back and warded off the portal taking key guys. A sign of solid culture these days.
This year, 3 of their losses were by 1 possession and they weren’t mathematically eliminated from a spot in the ACC Championship until November. They aren’t that far off.
Next years schedule is also somewhat friendly for them. They do not play the teams who finished in the Top 3 in the ACC (FSU, Lville, NCST) and are not one of the ACC schools who play Notre Dame either. They do draw Clemson at home though and Miami on the road.
Non-conference schedule At Vanderbilt, home to Marshall, At Old Dominion, home to Rutgers. I’m not saying they’re a lock to go 4-0 in the non-con but at the same time those are 4 winnable games for a team that returns 21 of 22 starters.
I’m curious where Vegas puts their preseaosn over/under win total. This year it was 5.5 with the over hitting. For those who partake in betting this could be a very attractive future play on the over depending on where Vegas puts the number.

Tech has a very solid shot at a 10 win season. Pry so far has done a good job at writing the mistakes of Fuente. And making the Hokies look like the Hokies of the 2000’s that were top 25 teams competitive in the Acc and had a shot at bcs games

@spencersmith3929 @fatpowerful Looking back at my earlier comment looks like fanduel has their over/under win total at 7.5 I think that’s fair….I lean the over on that and feel pretty good about it.
I think their ceiling is 10 wins and their floor is 7. So, basically I feel like their floor or “worst case scenario” needs to happen for the under to hit. As long as they stay healthy I see no reason why they can’t get at least 8+ wins for that over to hit.
Tulane had a great season, but they lost the conference championship game and now this bowl game, the year definitely didn’t end in their favor. Congratulations to VT 💯💯💯

I was there! Very rainy. But for my first ever football game to be a bowl game in row 2 on the 35 was definitely a great experience to root for one of our DMV teams for the win! Go Hokies!
If you can make it to Blacksburg next year you should definitely do it. It's the most awesome experience for a football fan.

Kyron Drones had a gorgeous game he had 91 passing Yards and 2 touchdowns and 176 Rushing yards and 1 touchdown.🏈

Hokies really showed how far they’ve come just this season alone. With the schedule next year, they should be taken as a threat.

They’ll be making a lot of statements for the draft, VT hasn’t been this talent deep for a long time. We get our best wr back Ali Jennings - NFL bound. APR is back - top edge NFL bound. Tuten is back- top RB- NFL bound. Drones, Lane, Jenkins, tisdale, strong, Lawson, Kendricks, Felton, etc all coming back and most off a strong season will be NFL bound. 2024 will be a fun year

Ooof, looked like every player on Tulane was at least 20 lbs lighter than the player in their position in VTech. Just couldn't outlast the physicality by the bigger team.

Good for former Tulane Head Coach Willie Fritz that he got the head coaching job at Houston. That man, his staff, and his players for the last two years REALLY turned around Green Wave football. But the team he left behind didn't play like the Tulane that we all know.
Kyron Drones started out his first drive of the game fumbling the ball which was returned for a TD by Tulane. After that play, I bet he had most of Virginia Tech football nation (fans, coaches, players, and media) cursing his name and existence. But he turns around and ends up winning game MVP honors. Talk about redemption!!!

I was there in person for the military bowl.
Good win by VT, Drones is a monster. Tulane? Anyone see them? The team that went 11-2 either beat a bunch of awful schools, or just plain didn't show up on a really ugly weather day. Fun to watch though, and the announcers behind the mics were far worse than anything Tulane coughed up today. All in all an entertaining experience.
Tulane was legit regular season. A ton of Tulane's starters opted out of the bowl game including Tulane's NFL bound QB. Still a solid win for the Hokies.

It was held at Marine Corps stadium at Annapolis and it doesn't have enough space for it. It is a small stadium
So Tulane came in ranked and 11-2 and played a 6-6 team from a power 5 conference. If Tulane played in the Big 12 every week they would get smacked

USC had 24 players sit Holiday Bowl. We are approaching the end of Bowl Games because of NIL and the portal. Players who scarifice for the team all their college sport tenur will be pooped on by players headed for a pro oppurtunity when the bowl game comes. Why sacrifice

Tulane had seven players opt out due to NFL prep or transfer portal-- three offensive (2 starters, QB and Guard), and four Defensive (none were starters)...

Haven’t watched Tulane all year but it looks like they had 7 players Opt. out of the Bowl game including the starting QB and backup QB as well as the leading WR. Also the head coach just left to take over Houston.

Nope. In 2022 and 2023 they were legit but opt outs in a bowl game, losing your head coach and some of his assistants (game plan change and etc.), shitty weather, and a down for whatever opponent (VT in this case) can affect any team.
