At this past Awesome Games Done Quick, $1,025,000 was raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. It only took a week of continuous streaming, 18,000 donors, and many many runners to achieve. A big thanks to everyone responsible for these amazing numbers, what a humbling achievement. For comparison, last year's event raised just under $500,000.

This game was such a huge part of my childhood. I never owned it but I rented it many many times. Now that this run has reminded me about it, I'm definitely going to add it to my NES collection.

So many hours of childhood were spent on this peace of art, the story line , music is just epic.
The fact that someone could beat this on hard mode is crazy. That he's speed running it is insane!

This run is just crazy to me. I remember watching the Bucky cartoon when I was very young, and I think I even had a Bucky action figure or two. I rented the NES game from a local grocery store, and it just annihilated me. I can't imagine how much time and effort went into becoming this good at the game! Great work for a great charitable cause!

it'd be interesting to combine social media with the mid-late 1980's when most gamers were stuck playing tons of hard NES games...there'd be a lot of rage out there

God damn I know it's hard mode but one hit deaths are absolutely insane. Great run, and props to the player.
When I got to play the game on my console, I used to die in one hit... I wondered why there was even a health bar which you can expand when you die in one shot anyway... Got fucking scammed. I managed to beat the red planet hardcore mode, at least.

Oh this one's INSANE. Probably the hardest thing to do on the NES that's part of a game's coding. Cyghfer is amazing.
And wow it looks like Konami just copy-pasted the bottom of the fire stage from Salamander 10:10 (I know that's not at all how NES programming works).
This is a game that seems to delight in making players scream in frustration.

IN MY country, there are some cart has copy of this game but hardmode was turnon secretly! one hit die by anything. and that make the hardest game of my life( others too). And it happen for along time( about 5 6 yrs), we just find out the normal version( takes many hit to die), so we just...." phew, at the end, we can do it).

AGDQ and SGDQ needs to understand that the announcer should not talk during gameplay. Did you ever see the announcer talking over the speakers (disturbing the contestants) in a golf tournament?
