I love that when Jomboy started off he wasn't far off going "hey, the battery hit it beyond the white rope. Comment to let me know if that's good..." and now he's giving detailed breakdowns of overs. Love to see it
Yassss
Started following jomboy a few years back but haven't really noticed it until this comment 😂 he's come so far!
It's amazing to see Jomboy now using the more common cricketing terms (off side, 5th stump)! Hoping that you can become a common guest appearance for international or franchise games!
Need a collaboration with the Grade Cricketer.
That was it, the 5th stump line comment, he's bloomin' good eh?
yep, hearing his voice in a few of this world cup's commentary was cool
It's like the opposite of a golden bowler. He's a golden batsman.
FanDuel Golden Batsman
phil salt absolutely peppering it
he’s just philling the wound with salt one after the other
shepherd’s pie needed salt
@@pistachio737 Very good.
haahaaaaa
I mean, he's a seasoned vet, you expect that from him.
For those wondering why they didn't switch the pitcher: in cricket the bowler is in for the entire over (set of 6 pitches, denoted by the circles on the graphic)
Can he as the bowler, just 'throw a ball' like in baseball for a good batsman? Or what are the rules on that?
@@magus3553 No that would be considered a "wide ball" or "no ball" and bowler would have to rebowl that ball. So an over is 6 LEGAL balls per over. Only time a bowler would not finish an over is due to injury or the batting team scores the winning runs before the completion of an over.
@@magus3553 No, he has to "bowl" the ball. In my understanding, that's overarm without bending the elbow. For a good batsman, the best idea is to vary where the ball bounces (like Shepherd tried on the third bowl) or how much spin it has, like switching up your pitch in baseball.
Changing your speed it hard, so don't see much variation there (EDIT: this is sentence is wrong, see below)
@@magus3553 nah he can't throw it, the bowler in cricket has to bend the arm 360 degrees while bowling
@@yadhaider807 he was saying "throw a ball" in the baseball sense where we talk about "pitching around a hitter", not the cricket sense of course, but to answer the question you get penalized for bowling it too far from the batsman (in fact that third delivery seems borderline?) In limited overs cricket you can be forced to bowl an additional ball as a penalty, in addition to the other team being just awarded runs outright. (one or two penalty runs, depending on the format)
You and your breakdowns have actually gotten me interested in cricket. Never had any interest in it for my entire adult life... BIG baseball guy, now look what you've done to me, lol. Thanks!
Australians often have a good knowledge of both sports given that cricket is essentially our national sport and baseball has been played since the 1850's-60's often as cricketers off season sport.. When you know both sports you get a sense for how much baseball skills have impacted on the T20 cricket game. Fielding techniques like relay throw and leg / pop slides have been common since the 1960's and more recently the grips used by most pitchers have come across into bowling.
We have eight times MLB All Star catcher David Nilsson to thank for the knowledge he has given to Aussie cricketers and also former national baseball head coach Mike Young who became the national Cricket fielding coach 30 years ago.
I was interested in cricket for years, but never really understood it. Jomboy's intro to cricket videos pushed me over the edge and now I enjoy watching, and understanding, the game.
I'm a cricket fan from the UK and Jomboy got me interested in baseball. So he's a true cross-cultural advocate of sport.
Opposite for me ., I never thought I would be interested in baseball and here watching his baseball breakdowns 😅..
1. You have nailed the vernacular.
2. You have nailed video editing.
He had a hell of a day and I have a feeling his teammates bought him a beer or two after that one.
both of them lol. I'd need a fucking stiff rum and coke after that over.
Just a couple months ago, Romario Shepherd did the same thing to a bowler named Anrich Nortje in the IPL where he hit 32 runs in the over with all of them being boundaries.
This is Romario Shepherd's way of finding out just how it feels
Someone hit 43 in an over in the County Championship yesterday.
@@jekanyika Yeah i know, Louis Kimber from my home county of Leicestershire :)
Honestly just made me happy to see that the Leicestershire county cricket club is doing something more than just merely existing
Also Jasprit Bumrah hit 35 against Stuart Broad in Test
I see cricket on Jomboy and I click it. One day, the US will have a major cricket league and full matches will be available to view on Jomboy. That is my dream.
Major League Cricket is starting on Prime Video (at least in Australia) next month. Looking forward to it.
If it happens, Jomboy will have helped influence it, for sure. The number of non-cricket folks he's gotten interested is astonishing.
@@lawrencema1985 It's available on ESPN+ and Sling TV in the U.S.
The US has a professional cricket league now, it’s called Major League Cricket. As it just started last year there are 6 teams. LA, San Fran, New York, Seattle, DC and Dallas
These shorter versions of cricket like big bash league & t20 are what really elevates the sport.
I needed this after the loss. Thank you Jomboy
YOU NEED TO DO THE AFG VS BAN MATCH!! Especially the cramp!
I want to know if a baseball player has ever thrown his bat at a team mate.
I love the cricket. keep it coming!
I still don't understand cricket but I still love these breakdowns.
The 6 is in the air beyond the rope, and the 4 is behond the rope. You can hit or protect or take a “pitch” but can’t protect with your leg. I don’t know all the running rules
@@ugiswrong You can in theory protect it with your leg but the rules around that are complicated and relate to where the ball bounces and where it hits the leg. For the purposes of T20 type cricket it's best just to avoid it entirely.
For the running rules, effectively the white lines just in front of the stumps at each end are effectively the bag, so if you touch down any part of the body (plus the bat) behind that line, you are safe. Because batters work in pairs, we often refer to the "striker" and the "non-striker", with the striker being the one who is facing the bowling at the time and the "non-striker" being the one at the bowler's end.
Jomboy drives a full 40% of all american cricket engagement. I love this! Keep up the great work!
Compliments to Jomboy. For a relative newbie to cricket, and in a country that doesn't play or watch it much, your coverage and terminology are outstanding. You really sound like you know your stuff. 'Fifth stump line' for example. Far more than English cricket commentators trying to incorporate baseball terminology into a cricket game. My pet peeve is 'he bunted it down the ground' when a batsman smashes it over the bowler's head. That's not a bunt !!! I'd bet my house the batsman didn't square up, hands wide apart, and bunt it !!!
This breakdown just gave me a whole new appreciation for Cricket
You gotta do a breakdown of Kieron Pollard’s six sixes for West Indies in 2021. The expressions on the face of the Sri Lankan bowler Akila Dananjaya are priceless.
I’ll always love the cricket videos, it’s what got me into watching and understanding the game.
This reminds me of the episode of Bluey where they play cricket. You should do a breakdown of that episode
breakdown of that episode is: Rusty is a fucking gun bat
I’m surprised America doesn’t like cricket more, especially the 20/20 format. It’s very stat heave and I know you guys like that, and it’s just so action packed, again especially 20/20. If you can, have a look at the Indian Premier League, one of the best sporting series around.
I felt betrayed since I wanted to support USA but they were never on TV or streaming so I kinda hate Cricket again tbh
@@BussinandDiscussin Give it another go, it’s great. One thing that’s often missed with cricket is the aggression that’s put into it, especially the bowlers. Batsmen go out with loads of pads, not just the ones you see on the legs. Bowling at the body is very much part of the game, it’s dangerous out there! lol
@@Yosser70 Seriously. I was a goalkeeper for a roller hockey league and I think I was just SLIGHTLY more padded up than these batsmen.
@@JimTheFly haha I believe it man. You start off with just your lid, gloves, cup and leg pads, then when the ball finds a new and painful place to hit you, you cover that area in pads! lol
@@BussinandDiscussin Unfortunately it is not economical to have cricket on US national TV at this stage. However the upcoming Major League Cricket season may have a few matches shown on local stations.
need more cricket content from you jomboy media 🔥
He wasn’t even bowling poorly… actually he was bowling great… dude was just batting unreal
I don’t watch cricket but even I was like “damn, bowler was screwed no matter what he did”. Impressive stuff.
You definitely deserve more recognition for this!
...he's got 2 mil subs
Y'all replying to a bot
Wait... I know what is happening... Jomboy... Did you teach me cricket ??
I need to rewatch Jomboy explaining cricket.
Get a major league pitcher in there to fire one into the dirt! That would throw everything off lol
Thank you Jomboy for all the cricket videos. Not a fan of the sport (yet) but the more I understand it the more I enjoy watching the highlights. I wouldn't understand any of it without these videos.
Bro u underestimate cricket players, we love full tosses 😂
I have no idea what I just watched, but it was so cool.
You've gotten so good at calling these cricket games. Very exciting
would love Jomboy to do a breakdown on Louis Kimber and Leicestershire's 4th innings chase vs Sussex this week
Really enjoy the Cricket breakdowns!!!
2:32 Legend Pedro Martinez chillin’ at a cricket match. Too cool!
That final "dance" needs some techno and disco lights to go with it.
Meatspin dance
Love all the videos, especially watching Guts! Keep up awesome work
For a guy named Salt, he can really put some pepper on that ball.
Crazy impressive from the batsmen
I was at this game in St Lucia. That over was brutal especially with all the Windies fans nearby
Crazy he was just ready and waiting for that short one before it even bounced basically!
And, I'm learning cricket now... Cool!
That was just brutal.
Thanks for explaining Things about cricket. I'm finally getting it
the last part of the video was hilarious, i don't really like cricket but your commentary made it enjoyable.
We need Jomboy to do a full breakdown on how cricket is played. Seems like a great sport
He kind of did one: The Rules and Gameplay of Cricket.
check out "cricket explained for baseball fans" its definitely the best video out there if you already understand baseball
I look forward to seeing more Americans get into cricket, rugby Union and rugby league. Keep it up Jomboy ❤
I'm enjoying learning cricket, but I think the thing tripping me up is the different leagues. Unless I'm misunderstanding, there are some rule variations in different leagues, and I can't always figure out what rules apply to the game I'm watching.
It's not so much that the rules change across different leagues, but different formats.
I think you mean formats . All leagues are of same format that is t20
I still don't understand this game...
I swear i will one day
1:11 Yeah! Actually wild the reaction time on some of these guys! And to know the delicate cricket physics to slightly innt the ball! Truly worthy of a war over tea!
I was digging the Salt ballerina
yes! love the cricket content!
The very nice commentary with attention to details I'd miss as a very casual viewer, suddenly being punctuated with absolutely unhinged and off the cuff editing is what keeps me coming back to this channel 😂
Jomboy covering the T20 WC is GREAT!!!
I'm finally understanding cricket....ish. THANK YOU!!
Classic Phil. Smashing the ball over the thing for the points there.. I have no idea what I’m looking at
Absolutely love the cricket content
You need to react on gulbadin naib's oscar deserving act 😂😂
Great vid!
the spinning bro im coooooooked hahahaha
More cricket please, also please cover some kabaddi ! It is such a fascinating sport & has such unique scenarios.
No idea what I'm watching but new Jomboy 👍🏻
Love seeing Jomboy reacting to other sports like cricket.
Nice one bro! Little spinny spin! 😆🤙
Had me cracking up at the end 😂
360° baby
That’s some great batting.
I love the T20 Cricket, cant do I ternational, but T20 is great. When I worked nights I'd get home around 4am which was apparently prime time in Australia. Willow Network was part of the same cable package as MLB Network so I'd watch the Big Bash T20. I started to look forward to when I was getting g off work.
Big Bash is awesome. The games are so much fun to attend live as well, it's a party atmosphere.
Shout out to the editors! Good work ❤
I don't even understand cricket and Jomboy has me hooked.
The shot over the keeper's head is one that all batters practice, even down at lowly grade cricket batting practice 15 years ago. You see it so often these days. I think it's a lot more effective than the reverse sweep, which more often than not ends up being hit straight to a fielder.
Do Kimber's over against Ollie Robinson in the Leicester vs Sussex game.
But you can’t hit a wide bouncer with a sweep shot . A jump upper cut can be effective
Had me cackling at the end of the video😂
Love the spin
'errrrr Help?!' hahaha :)
I love the spinning at the end!
I didn't make it that far
That batsman is worth his SALT
hahaha
That ending was amazing 😂
In baseball they have the cycle. In this sport they have the Jiminy. It's so hard to do you have to wish upon a star.
Where is the Rob Thomson ejection breakdown. Been waiting for thatttttt
10 more videos and i might start understanding this game.
As an American it's not that hard once you associate baseball terms with cricket terms.
Wicket = Out (I'm sure you knew this)
Over = 6 WELL Pitched balls (Could hit the stumps otherwise it's a wide)
Wide = Ball pitched that couldn't be hit which gives the batting team a run and does NOT count as a WELL pitched ball of 6
4 = Hit ball that hits the boundary or Ground Rule Double
6 = Homerun basically
Batted ball caught in air = Wicket = Out
Batted ball fielded and thrown and hits wicket before batter/run crosses line = Wicket = Out
T20 = 20 Overs before teams switch sides (Like a half inning) or 10 Wickets
These are the very basics and I'm sure I'm wrong somewhere and people can elaborate on my comment.
Gotta feel for shepherd. I have been in this situation a couple of times before as a bowler when there is a batter at the other end just nailing everything. Sometimes you just have to try and get him off strike and go at the other batter. It's even worse in a T20 match because every run is so valuable and it's very easy to get into a negative frame of mind when this happens.
2:33 this must become a meme face
love to look at all 6 forms but you covered them with your popups lmao
I would have shifted the boundsman at wide high point in to long silly mid off, then gone after a good length with the doosra for the dot balls on the leg byes.
The spin! lol
Needed this after England lost to India earlier. Thanks for the cricket video :)
When I see cricket I click, no inbetween
30/36 runs possible from one over is just nuts. Wouldve been even more insane had the all been sixes
This is pure pain as a West Indies fan lol..
all i can say is, if the board had done enough to keep Sunil Narine interested, this may have been the WI's year.
Jimmy you gotta do the breakdown of Ollie Robinson giving up 43 runs in one over!!
Might be the best cricket video you've made to show how it differs from baseball. Hitting anything but front/far = bad in baseball. Just like in bowling you can tell me the scoring a billion times I'm still gonna be confused tho.
Cricket spin is the best thing
Excellent 😂😂
Jomboy start reacting to Indian cricket stuff it would be great for your channel
💪 💪 💪 💪 💪 💪 💪 💪
That pitcher feels like I did last night during softball.
Hey Jomboy please share your analysis of Yuvraj Singh 6 consecutive 6's in an over aganst England. It was in 2007 World Cup
Were you planning on doing Chris Jordan's sensational performance with the ball against the USA?
"Sob" lol
The spinning part holybshit i died
So is this hitting for a cycle or is this a reverse immaculate inning?
do a video on nats@padres june 26
What’s up with Pedro Martinez watching the game 😂
