Hockey still good, but not so good as in the 90's, the feeling watch NHL now and then is different for me, I love NHL and yes, hockey still good...
This fight is emblazoned in my memory as one of the most adrenaline pumping games. I will never forget this brawl and I am so glad someone finally uploaded it. Hauling out the VCR to watch it is not conducive to instant gratification.

This was the first hockey game I ever went to. My dad loves telling the story about taking his son to his first hockey game and seeing the biggest fight he's ever seen. He was happy to know a CZcams search for "Stars Blackhawks fight" yields this as the very first result.

This game was the first meeting between the two teams after Derian Hatcher had effectively ended Jeremy Roenick's season with a knee-on-knee "hockey play," as it would be euphemistically called today, which took place two weeks prior. There was tension and expectation in the air the entire game, and it finally broke in the third period here.

Remember this game and brawl. Very cool of Moog to go in and get the goalie, not to fight but to keep him out of it, I'm sure they had a wonderful conversation! but you can see it's a hey kid stay out of this kinda moment.

Forgot that Mickey Redmond did some nationally televised games in the 90s. Him and Cherry were great at breaking down fights.

A request for anyone that has another brawl I am looking for, stars vs oilers around 1997ish. The brawl was at the end of the second period I believe, goal tenders got involved but main combatants were Hatcher vs Kelly butchberger. Kelly was hammering on mike madano and Hatcher had to basically undress himself to get to Kelly. I been looking forever for it

Smith wouldn’t fight him until Churla turned his head to face Chelios who was coming at him. Smith started punching Churla as soon as his head was turned. Chelios was also holding Churla’s shoulders while Smith was punching him.

I was at this game and the whole thing was insane and it finally culminated with this. I loved Churla, he was insane. There was way more bad blood between him and Chelios before and after this game. He tried to stab Chelios in the face with his stick once between the glass panes in the penalty box while Churla was being escorted off the ice with a game misconduct.
I was a few levels from ice level and I remember even seeing Hawk fans getting into verbal arguments with Stars fans and the ushers having to take people away, haha! I miss when hockey was good.

Belfour would have put Moog in the ER, if they had gone toe to toe. Back then they all thought he was crazy. If Moog actually thought he would have had a chance against Belfour, he'd have left his blocker with rest of the equipment he dropped.

I was at this game at good ole Reunion Arena and I was hammered!!!! old time hockey haha, Reunion was so much better than the AAC.
Same can be said for Detroits new arena LCA is nothing like Joe Louis arena was.
Now with LCA you have all the shops and bars and oh yes the game is going on.

It went like this, Churla wanted to fight, Smith did not... Hawks jump in and then Smith gets courage and jumps Churla... gets a few shots in, then turtles. Smith rarely took guys on in fair fights... one of the cheapest fighters all time. I use fighters loosely when referencing Smith.

Smith was a very underrated fighter. He really had to not have a choice most times like this. He stood upright and long reach and his punches always extended and landed at the extension which is textbook
