The exact type of guide I've been looking for. Simple set up, not too many confusing switches, buffs and items. Going to give it a go again today... cheers!
Thanks, this guide has really helped me a lot. After some practise on Zuk from when I stranded about a year ago I finally got it down. Couldn't have done it without you!
wow i went through like 6 guides and gave up on zuk a few times. Your guide was the one that finally clicked for me and I got my first zuk kill! Thanks for making such a down to earth guide!
Amazing to hear!! Glad it helped 🙂
Thanks for the guide, helped a lot with showing me what to do! I still had a bit of trouble on the pizza phase because of low dps, since I was only using Cywirs instead of T88s (not finished ports yet), but vuln bomb + cinders/WP++/Kwuarm sticks were enough to push me over.
Keep up the good work for us Revo warriors not enough videos like this.
Love this video as a returning max player who's been making excuses to delay catching up on modern day PvM. Have the Kiln capes from the last time I played, but been considering this too difficult for my current level of gear until watching this video. Gives me way more confidence now, thank you
I’ve been trying to get to Zuk for the past couple of days, keep making mistakes along the way, and at first was preoccupied with trying to do a flawless run with challenges. Today I got to Zuk finally and my mind went blank and died, thanfully you can practice the boss fight. This guide gave me several ways to make the pizza phase easier. I’m going to try and finish off Zuk tomorrow and try to get my igneous stone thanks to your guide brother!
Not gonna lie, this is hands down the best guide, I'm terrible at pvm and the other guides by more popular youtubers just didn't work for me, but this got it for me first try
best and only actual informative zuk guide on youtube, thank you
Like you mentioned in the video the Obsidian helm is really good and worth to get, 9% damager reduction. Free BiS. Tank armor with 10% damage accuracy and if you have spare Tokkul gives 10% more damage reduction, 15k Tokkul per 20 minutes duration.
Only thing I could say would help are Tokkul-Zo ring charged up for 10% damage, Vulnerability Bombs, and any adrenaline potion.
Using weapon poison will also be VERY helpful for dealing with the pizza minions. It doesn't work on Zuk but it does put DoT's on them which will usually kill them for you if you have to surge away before they're dead. Similar to bleeds.
Also, the easiest way to increase damage to Zuk beyond what is in this guide is to bring Vulnerability Bombs, which you can buy on the GE. These are also helpful for Jad and Har-Aaken. You'd be surprised how much they increase your damage and all it takes is clicking it in your inventory when you first start attacking the boss.
strongly recommend to anyone trying this boss to prioritize DPS by setting up a good ability bar etc. With high DPS you're much less likely to fail pizza phase and much less likely to have to deal with it more than once. Also, if you're having a hard time getting through waves without using too much food, try the Blood Reaver familiar, it is superior for healing to a yak, and does a shockingly large amount of DPS as well when combined with bleeds, poison and soul split. Bring an extra pouch or some other way to heal it though because sometimes it dies to Har-Aaken or Zuk especially if you spam heal.
this is a great vid for showing that you can ignore all that and still pull through this with a lil practice, meaning anyone can do it :)
Thank you for this! I haven't gone back to Zuk since the first 3 NM Igneous stones, but I may try HM with something more like this. Totally forgot the Blood Reaver also can heal you lol. And agreed for the pizza especially in HM (and since I've gotten Cinders since this), weapon poison would help a ton.
My herb level is high enough on the Iron for vulns now too. Such a basic one I didn't even mention haha.
The ending is very true, I did it with much less equipment maybe just close weapons and camping staff. After 6 HM attempts and about 50 normal mode KCs, I got my flawless skin, of course, with yak and taking excessive care, so much so that it took me well over an hour for the first flawless KC.
Can’t wait to try this out ❤
Man I love this boss, wish we could fight it without all the waves though. Something like Zammy where you do 25 kills then can skip straight to the boss
Did not know about the double surge to remove the constitution debuff. Your guide is more detailed than the ones I've seen in the past and I now feel confident in succeeding the run this time. Cheers to you! You got my sub!
This is the type of guide I need! I’ll be attempting ZOOK again implementing some of your tips. I’ve failed 5 times,1 of which I got up to the pizza phase but didn’t have enough dps. I surprisingly did well with his other mechanics however. I struggle a lot with the waves tbh, taking way too much damage 🥴
…Cheers for the great video!
+1 for respectful pronunciation, thanks and good luck to you! I haven't gone back to get my 4th stone for the Necro cape...I need it soon, maybe I'll manage to put together a similar beginner level vid for a flawless run. My Iron doesn't have gchain, so fingers crossed.
This is literally a godsend, everyone else is out here doing turbo juiced hard mode guides and I just need a simple “it ain’t that bad look” to get in there
thank you this is precisely what is needed. Every other guide obsesses about MUST buying 500m+ gear with 300m Essence of Finality and tons of expensive codexes. All I wanted was just the cape. Didnt care about hard mode. Good Guide.
I’ve never thought to bring a pack yak, then another summon familiar on top of that, that’s genuis
Super helpful. I still haven't gotten my first zuk kill, and I really want the cape. I am maxxed with full seasinger and T90 wand orb. It's just a skill thing and your video was awesome. Thank you.
Are you an iron? Try finding a t95 or t92 weapon it can help a fair bit with accuracy (5 or 10% respectively)
@@cds5067 I am not an iron man. I just have nerve damage in my left hand meaning I can only press a few keys per minute. I play almost entirely on revo.
Thanks for the tips. The prices of higher tier gear is falling so that will help a lot.
Cool video man. Due to all three guides on here I feel pressured to do this in a really specific way
Which 3 guides? You don't have to do it Zuk a specific way, but if you're still getting used to it there definitely is an "easiest" way to get through it (magic tank armor). There are a lot of players who use Range when more comfortable and one guy that cleared flawless Hard Mode with Melee. Pretty nuts, lol.
Jasper72, this has to be one of the best, if not the best Zuk guide out here. Unfortunately I did not get my zuk cape before the AD nerf but I got a Magma Tempest as a consolation prize!
Partial win! Did you try it before & after the nerf? I still need to go back...to try and unlock hard mode.
@@jasper_72 Yes i was practicing before the nerf and was close. One my second attempt after the nerf, I got the cape!
@@Reversa1 How was dmg post nerf compared to before?
Flip this over here, move this over here, twist it 3 quarters of the way, shuffle 3 steps to the left, flush the toilet, spin 3xs, use your shield as a sled, don't forget about your vulnerability buff shout, say the three magic words, type pzmq on your keyboard exactly 2 seconds after Voldemort spawns, whisper to the person on your left the words "taste the rainbow" , and Bam! You've won, ez pz right?!
Man, and this isn't even the worst of them by far imo haha. At least it's more or less one major mechanic hitting you at a time. I'm learning Zamorak and Raksha...make sure to catch those guides 🤮
tyvm
Nicevideo well done
zook
Just wantd to say thank you i struggled with zuk , but i watch this guide, well the zuk phase mostly, a few times, and got it on my first try. So thank you so much.
That is awesome to hear, you're welcome and congrats!!
My first hm flawless was 43 minutes as range. Now I can do it around 25 minutes it’s really not as bad as you think when you keep doing it
Sorry for the silly question but I see you're on Ancients, how would you be able to use disruption shield while on Ancients? 😅
I don't use or have Disruption Shield, haha, obviously. Oversight on my end. I know a lot of players bring another rune pouch/runes for Spellbook Swap & Disruption Shield. Admittedly annoying and kind of an advanced trick.
@@jasper_72 Gotcha, might be better off using resonance on that magma bomb or just tanking it for my first stone.
Your voice os cool.
Thanks for the guide!
I'm terrible at PvM but I got a really good mage set up
Fsoa, eof, elite tectonic, upgraded channelers ring all perked out too
Think it would be possible or Is tank armor needed?
Possible, it's been done in worse gear lol even in hard mode but generally it takes some practice to get the positioning/mechanics down to do it without Animate Dead.
There is a video of guy doing this with pvme revo+ with range. Not sure if that helps for a reference
I can make it to zuk but fail to kill him without dying. I don’t use dual weild, since i thought camel staff and greater sonic wave would do it… not working though. I did get a scripture of ful off him though, the practice is paying off to get closer to the igneous stone!
Edit: Got it! :) practice gets her done!
Awesome!! Big congrats! It's so satisfying lol
I've gotten as low as desert sole for food and a yak familiar.
Gonna have to do hard mode someday.
Why do we need magic tank armour to kill zuk, shouldn’t it be power armour, or is it to clear the arena. Pls explain
I’m making my own superior sea singer armour btw
It's mainly to help clear all the waves before Zuk. If the waves aren't really a problem for you, power armor will be better yeah.
This is a great guide, thanks! I still haven't succeeded yet, but maybe one day, lol. Sometimes the whole area around him gets smokey and I take a lot of damage and haven't seen or heard anyone mention what is it. Any thoughts, anyone?
Thanks! The smoke thing sounds strange, I've never heard of or seen it...does he say anything before it happens? I wonder if its one of his mechsnuxs but with something weird graphically happening
Do you prayer switch for Zuk at all aside from pizza phase?
I camped Deflect Melee with a Vampyrism aura for my Animate Dead runs. It always helps to Soul Split switch but it wasn't a problem for me when I didn't.
@@jasper_72 Ty Ty! Btw thanks for giving me the confidence to do a full Zuk run. I’ve now gotten all my capes. Just need a HM guide now ;)
1st youtuber that pronounces zuk correctly lol the song says it and ppl still say it wrong. great vid
1st youtuber to back me up lmao. Idk why everyone would rather pronounce it Zuck. Disrespectful 😯
@@jasper_72 i need to get hardmode done for the cape before they nerf animate dead... not looking forward to that
Me too man 😐. Whenever I manage, you'll see a vid about it lol.
How did you switch to ripper mid fight thought we could not bank if we want the stone ?
I brought a ripper pouch with me. I dismissed my yak and just summoned the ripper. If you bring even just super restores it'll keep your Summoning points high enough to do so.
After the first run tbh I just brought the ripper and no yak. The yak is safer if you're not sure how things will go, but dismissing the yak I ended up just dropping like 30 sharks haha
@@jasper_72 yeah il stick with yak for now managed to get my first couple kills to day. right now yak is needed for me
I finally killed Zuk once but it wasn't flawless, so gotta do it all in one go again. I'm a try to do it with ranged but during the pizza phase I'd use vulnerability bombs on the minions and the TokKul-Zo ring for more damage.
Still good progress, my first ever didn't get me a stone either. Just to clarify btw, it doesn't have to be a "flawless" run to get the stone. You can fail the challenges, just have to survive and do it all in one run without leaving.
Does slayer tasks help with the wave mobs?
Yes. I don't know how much the damage stacks with an Obsidian helm or the Tokkul Zo ring, but slayer will give you a good Accuracy boost too. And of course it doesn't have a y effect on Zuk.
Curious if anyone has a Necro kill version of this. I'd like to try Necro at lots of bosses I've either never done or struggled at.
Perks? And would this be possible with an inquisitor staff instead?
An Inq staff does work on Zuk and can be very good there, but it will only get its boost on the melee based enemies in the waves, so it would overall be worse for that. I have several vids testing the Inq staff, it falls short of lower tiered dual wielding most of the time. If you have Magma Tempest however, it might be worth having a Nox staff for the waves. But I don't recommend the Inq staff for waves (or Zuk's pizza phase) because t80 accuracy is pretty bad on the non-melee enemies.
My perks in this vid were really basic:
Weapons: Precise 5 or 6, Equilibrium 4.
Armor: Crackling 4, Relentless 5, Enhanced Devoted.
If possible, Caroming for a switch weapon would be great for the waves, and/or Aftershock but these are more expensive.
@@jasper_72 Good to know! Thanks for the response. Died on the Zuk pizza phase, couldn't DPS the minions in time. Maybe when mage goes to 120 and there is more power creep i'll be able to do it, haha.
Ive been trying to do this without curses or soul split and its really tough come wave 8-9. Ian even running full t95 and ive also tried tank but just get overwhelmed.
No curses or soul split would totally make this hell. Tbh I haven't tried a Necro run of this yet myself but with regular protection prayers and a ghost to heal you could be pretty ok. The high tier Nero tank armors give 18-20% damage reduction anyway and have a high dodge chance
Big thing for this: with the release of necromancy and bone shield with it, you get EVEN TANKIER, which is nice and more importantly, NO LONGER NEED A SHIELD SWITCH to use shield abilities. It is fucking amazing and I want to kill the mods for it. Maybe just a quick peck through as my rng has been shit and I need to blame someone. Anyway, go train necromancy. It makes this even easier due to the passive. You can do it with lesser bone shield, but greater bone shield gives more armor, so yeah.
With revo I do the following to get more adren before challenge waves which makes them quite consistent and casual. This might apply more for HM challenge waves (especially if attempting 1 cycle), but it generally leaves me with a nice amount for the challenge part as well (or at least saves an adren pot use if needed for that part). I bring an SGB (any charge bow could work I guess but SGB can have other uses for the spec) and I also take any thresholds off of my revo bar for range 2h. After smoke cloud/vuln bomb on zuk I plant a sunshine and then switch to the bow to charge up adren which saves all of my strongest magic basics for zuk once you press the action button. I generally hit it around 60% adren at the same time as switching to magic. Thinking more on this, I might start with a natural instinct first, build adren with range, sunshine, build adren with range (like 2 basics), action button. This would let you have more time remaining on sunshine going into the challenge part and perhaps it might even help on adren as well.
Is this why I see so many SGB's in people's invs on CZcams when bossing with Melee or Magic lol? Build up adren with unused basics? I really hate switchscape 😔
@@jasper_72 Probably not, the spec works at its max on Zuk, Jad and Har-Aken, and the pillar at the end so it is a good hit with ingenuity of the humans.
I run full Revo for everything but anticipation, all the time. Should I stop...? I want to get into bossing.
Depends on the bossing, but for anything advanced yes unfortunately. For many bosses (around GWD2 level or lower), having full revo including ultimates means worst case your kills aren't optimal (like you drop a sunshine when the boss has 5k hp left).
For more advanced bosses (Zuk, Zamorak, really specialized ones like Solak, Raids, etc), dumping all your adrenaline on full revo right before a mechanic that requires defensives or other abilities will get you killed. A lot of these bosses also have "DPS checks" where you can die easily if you haven't kept your strong thresholds off of cooldown. It's a lot, but it gets easier with practice and is still fun.
@@jasper_72 Eugh. 😂 I left WoW once, I don't want to have to start again!
zoook
ZOOOK
umm I think it's Zuhk not Zook haha great video.
I feel like you cold've done the Wiki reading for us and put it in the guide bc that's the whole point of a YT video
I read the wiki for this over and over. Helped me a bit but there was a lot I picked up from experience I wanted to relay here.
And his music says "Tzkal ZOOK" like a thousand times lol. I stand by Zook not Zuhk like he's Mark Zuckerberg.
thought about making a necro guide?
Have thought about it! Also been sidetraccked with other projects, but I've looked at other YT'ers Necro Zuk guides...I think there's some space for me to make an even more full revo/super easy setup guide.
ill try that again later on but I am 2 hours into zuc, and i died a lot. I got to a point where i dont even reset the fight, I fought the last phase for prob 10 or 11 times now and i am getting closer and closer, and i dont know why but its pretty rng if i manage to clear the pizza phase or not, one time i finish it before he even starts to channel and sometimes i just dont have enough time. Its always the pizza part, no problems at all with the rest, i even took some power gear with me to switch into when the pizza starts to have enough dps but it just wont work.
For the first kill it makes the most sense not to reset, just keep going at Zuk to get used to it and figure out how to clear the pizza. Might be tedious but if you don't mind, if you post your gear & revo bar here I could try and give some pointers.
@@jasper_72 my problem is that I dont have great magic gear at all, my best tank gear for animate dead is Gano(dont have gConc), I usually range everything, thats where most me gear is, and I tried it with sirenic, took ascensions for bak bolts and nox bow for some range at hard to reach enemys. the challenges are super easy, but the zuc fight was hell in the beginning, because i used a nox staff with gano and failed the dps check a few times(as for spell i used the one that buffs wreck to wreck and ruin for more dps). I can 0 death the whole encounter when i go tank for the mob waves, port back and then do zuc with range in powergear but that wont give me a cape unfortunately. I think i need to work on taking less damage, but now i got myself some onix bak bolts and I think that should solve the problem on running low on food, because zuc dropped me like 500 tips from 2 runs.
Ah, gotcha. 2 things then I'd recommend for a mage setup that can carry you through:
1. Get GConc. Buy it fairly cheap, or kill Kerapac if you're playing on an Iron lol. It's one of the most worthwhile abilities on the game to get (and if you are an Iron and have been grinding Kera with no luck I'm sorry :( lol).
2. Do the Brink of Extinction quest and get Obsidian armor if you havent already this will help you survive probably a bit better than with Gano, much better in any Ranged setup, and give you the 10% damage boost during the waves.
3. And one more actually for maging that might be easier than #2, buy some t85 seasinger armor or make t88 yourself of you're far along in Ports. T85 seasinger isn't too expensive if I remember, and with Animate Dead is probably better for now than Obsidian
@@jasper_72 I just so happen to get gconc dropped from kerapac today(needed some change and kerapac was nice enough to drop it), so i guess i wont be selling it and unlock it instead, i got brink of extinction already and the whole armor(used the headpiece for accuracy already), would you recommend the helwyr weapons then(Ill go for the t88 next in ports)? because i wont be getting enough money to buy seismics any time soon. Ill buy the seasinger armor then from ge, i got top and bottom unlocked in ports but chi is hard to come by. So its obsidian head boots, cinderbane and the three seasinger pieces with animate dead? I'll for sure try that tomorrow. (if i manage to get around 40 mil somehow to afford the weapons)
Big congrats on the gconc drop! It is nuts how much that ability changes your magic setup. And hard yes on the t88 seasinger dual wields. The upgrade kits aren't expensive and otherwise they're free, just need time for the chi lol. Definitely use chi for the weapons before the armor.
The Cywirs are the next best option. Better than any tier staff still (besides FSoA lol) because gconc is ridiculously strong. Good luck on the next attempt!
34mins for nm zuk run god damn
Zuk keeps waiting till next week to spawn his eruptions on Quake phase... Actually triggering me.
Got him to 7k at one point so only a matter of time but still.....
I just face tank the mage ball, i just triple eat and dont bother with a shield switch
Freedom does absolutely nothing for me. Doesnt stop the burn at all
"terrible gear, tier 88" Oh, me sat here with tier 80 range and tier 70 magic lol. I do have tier 90 melee but i heard melee is bad for this anyway.
Melee would be very painful, for you lol. It's been done, and it's been done in Hard mode too with t80 mage but it's not such a struggle with t85 at least
I struggle with range
Haven’t got a single kill
It sucks that every guide suggest using animate dead and magic, i mean yes i have it, but i prefer ranged. Kinda show how powerful the damage reduction is.
We'll see once it's nerfed 🙂. I don't use ranged anymore because this Iron has a t87 blowpipe at best and no grico, for now. For lots of players it's not a problem but I don't consider a setup in the billions for a begginner/struggling guide 😐.
Also ranged is arguably much better for Zuk, but the AoE of magic is really nice for the waves even if you don't Animate Dead.
There's a lot of ways rantged can get damage reduction as well, such as Aegis aura, Hellhound familiar, and Elysian shield. However I would recommend prioritizing dps over damage reduction even for learning Zuk, as most deaths are going to result from failing switches on Jad, failing to do enough damage on pizza phase, etc., not to regular auto damage. With high dps you can get through Zuk with only 1 pizza phase rather than 2, dramatically increasing your chances of success
not sure who at Jagex thought it was a good idea to give this guy as a Reaper task as early as they do. im suffering badly on my iron with reaper tasks because they just give me Kerapac, into Zuk, into 2x GWD2 bosses and that's bye-bye reaper points...
Literally what I'm struggling with now, wish I didn't slack so much on reaper when I was a low iron.
Bro makes a guide then says go to the wiki.. smfh!
