Hi Patrick, You have the patience of Job, and great problem solving skills! This project seems to have been jinxed from early on, through no fault of your own, but your perseverance is a shining tribute to your craftsmanship. Well done!
Interesting colour registration between your two cameras on the orbital sanding shots. The straight on shot shows the sander as green - as I’d expect - while the side shot shows it as blue!
Have I missed something Pat, are you accommodating a short scale neck? If your going 24 3/4 then you are gonna have 3/8"error so that will certainly explain your problem. I've done short scale strat and teles but scaled my own body templates to fit. It's a pain but it's hard to get away from making your own pickguard but worth it in the end. btw a very cheap simple and effective filler for a painted body in almost any timber is watered down drywall filler. Not sure what you call it over there but a quick sand and prime over that saves on multi coats of primer and expensive filler.
That was what I thought in the episode where the oddness of the horn was apparent. It’s nice to think I was on the right track. When aesthetics and engineering intersect then the issue become complex. I would think the body template would more than likely be correct and the pick guard be irregular.
Couple of videos ago, I also had my fingers crossed you would route a scratch plate to match the body. Selfishly, Would have been interesting to watch too 😊
I have only ever built guitars from kits, I have the majority of the tools for making my own bodies and necks including a CNC but I need a reliable source of guitar quality wood that isn't too expensive, I have some green woods that are naturally drying but wont be ready for at least 14 months, do you have any suppliers that you have received good wood from?

Yes, my gopro somehow reset the white balance to auto. I didn't notice until edit time!!
Patrick, you have a far more discerning eye than do I. That horn is looking simply lovely.
Great progress Patrick. Get that tea towel and iron back indoors before Mrs Shed notices they're gone!
14.08 you can hear the shed door creaking as mrs shed is hunting for her iron and favourite tea towel…

Awesome Patrick! Cheers from Italy! 🍻
Thanks :) Which part of Italy?
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams Hi Patrick!! I'm from Rome.
Brilliant, I love Rome, a great city :)
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams Thank you!!
@@SP_Woodlab Rome is a nice City ! Im from Vienna ! Just around the corner ! 😄
Hi , you also could have given it a custom-made pickguard ! 😮 To "stretch" towards the bridge and stay at the Horns!
Yes, I'm starting to think that would have been the quicker option, still it's done now :)
Thanks for the reply ! But also , be careful about the upper horn not becoming too prominent now !

Well , as it runs now , the upper should be given the same sanding & carving as the lower! But then both horns would be getting too long ! (??)
I would think you don’t really want to go further than you already have anyway, because then the bottom horn will be way off from the big horn.
So metal flake of some kind. All to familiar with sanding strats lately.
What brand is that carving file. Looks like it is very good.
@@jonahguitarguylooks like an iwasaki file in style, they are very nice!
@@PG-ex3kl thanks I’ll check them out

I tend to get most of my wood from Duffield timber near Ripon but have had great service from feel good wood, they have an ebay shop.
