I"m a white guy and I say this as sincerely as I can. I've been to a black pentecostal church before and this demonstration is freaking spot-on as to what it was like. I don't care if you are religious or not, every single white person needs to experience BLACK PRAISE at least once in their life. I'll never forget it.
I went to one mass with my friend at a black either Baptist or maybe pentecostal church and it was the best time I've ever had inside a church, I wish we had gone to that church instead of our stale, judgey catholic one
Hispanic here. I need it. I want it.
🎉 You're right. I'm a white chick and go to a black church. It's awesome! The music is phenomenal too!
Housed in the family games……. 0:21
Hmmmmm mmmmmm
Under normal circumstances, I truly despise musicals. However, The Blues Brothers will always be on my top ten greatest movies of all-time list. It's truly a timeless classic.
..... it's not a corny, unrealistic musical it's a gritty, down to earth realistic one.
Yes, ... yes I am jokin'
Same
Funny I never considered it a muscial.
@@raytflower ... that's the beautiful trick of the movie.
Agree. The same thing about CaddyShack, it's about golf FFS...and it's the number one go to movie for most guys, it's the most quoted second to casablanca or visa versa..
Elwood's jogging in place has become my go to dance move in life
It’s going to start to be mines too 😅
😂…that’s the whitest thing ever when he does that. ❤️
Yeah but Elwood NEVER really caught the Holy Spirit…😢 he just followed his brother…I think…🤔
A church sermon led by James bloody Brown, a joyous crowd, so excited and energetic, and ends with John Belushi freaking out in glorious fashion… and the movie’s only just getting started. Legendary
This is one of my favourite movie scenes because for the first few minutes of the movie, you don’t know if the movie is gonna be a drama or an adventure movie or whatever, but this scene absolutely sets the tone for the movie
Their was the penguin
RIP James Brown (May 3, 1933 - December 25, 2006), aged 73
And
RIP John Belushi (January 24, 1949 - March 5, 1982), aged 33
You both will be remembered as legends.
Just awesome how much these two guys have done for blues 🫡😎
And Ray Charles.
and aretha😢@@okjeffy6581
Not to mention Aretha Franklin ❤
is it chaka khan?
Such a brief appearance, but James Brown as Reverend Cleophus was somehow the most brilliant casting in the history of film.
Add Carrie Fisher and Aretha Franklin .. then you have it.
Blues Brothers can never be remade. With all the musical talent this movie has and damage done. Impossible.
Blues Brothers 2000 lol
@@mws755That was more of a tribute sequel.
This is a church I would love to go to every Sunday!
Why can’t we all just have some fun and enjoy life like this again? This movie should play over and over throughout the generations,!!!
You want to be governed instead.
Movies are part of the Brainwashing and indoctrination. Religion is our biggest curse.
@@je-freenorman7787 lol

Es verdad, amigo.

It's 2021, and the Blues Brothers movie, continues to amaze me just as it did when I first saw it in the theater back in June 1980.
Thanks ... you just made me feel really old! 😄
Yeah! Hard to believe this movie is over four decades old! And better than most of what Hollywierd has been producing of late.
Yes! Two weeks ago, I was fortunate to catch the original Blues Brothers and Blues Brothers 2000 back to back!
Now I've found some of my favorite scenes of both movies right here on CZcams!
This one and Animal House. John Landis knew funny and did it with so much heart.
Cult movie. Sequel as well.
I was not even born when this film came out. I first watched it in 2007 nearly 27 years after its release.
My father died March 31st 2022. His birthday was yesterday, April 15th 2022. Had to watch these to celebrate him, one of his fav movies. Happy birthday Daddio.
One of my old man's favorite movies too. May our old men rest in peace.
My Dad's birthday is also April 15. He passed in late August.
I had a gig a while back as a production assistant for a mobile recording studio that did a lot of live recordings of black gospel groups performing in churches in and around Durham, NC. Minus the choreography and high jumping, this was a pretty accurate portrayal of the atmosphere. Those churches ROCKED.
Gig?
yeah, it kinda sucks, ... in white churches, .. least the ones on tv, the preacher has to start screaming in the middle of the sermon to wake everybody up.
Went to a church service in Bermuda long ago and it was practically just like this. Dancing and singing like I never seen before. It was fantastic!
Churches are scary places full of dark magic. Be warned. They are not what people believe they are.

James Brown was a coke head drug addict that beat women.

I went to a very conservative religious boarding school when I was a kid. We had Church services everyday and three on a Sunday! We were allowed to bring in one VHS movie once a month and everyone had to sit down and watch it. When it was my turn I brought in this movie. It was the clean version (taped off the tv) with all the 'mf's' edited out. Once it started the teacher on duty clearly had a problem with it being appropriate for 8 - 13 year old boys, but couldn't really speak up because the film was about saving an orphanage run by a Nun and was about two men on 'a mission from God'.😂 Some of those kids were so excited by the end car chase that they were screaming and shouting and some were even riding their chairs with excitement as they cheered on Jake and Elwood. There was almost a riot! I like to think I broadened a few minds that day and planted a few seeds. An anti-authority classic. Still my all time favorite movie.
i won a gong show with the blues brothers

What light? Lol
Some of the shuffles by James Brown in this clip are off the scale. What a dancer and entertertainer he was. RIP you funk god.
I was thinking the same. They had trampolines, probably Russian poles for some of the dancers, but James, James, was James.
Yaaassss!!!!
The one at the 3:29 spot had ME gigging.
It really was an amazing film ...
Whenever I watch this film, my cheeks hurt, from smiling for 2 hours straight!
So many stars in this movie. To me, it is still the greatest SNL skit-to-film they've ever made 😃😅
This is one of the best dance scenes in the movie.
I was in Ghana for Christmas 20 years ago. There was no tree or gifts exchanged but you spent the day in church rejoicing then gathered for a feast. I met over 200 relatives at that dinner. The love and joy expressed at our visit was extraordinary and the church service was amazing, rejoicing and singing to the lord on the day of his birth. My mother left Ghana in the 50's, it has become the only country so far in Africa that welcomes the descendents of slaves... no visa required. In three years you can become a citizen. Opportunity abounds and I couldn't be prouder.

I wish more Churches had trampolines.
🤣
That won't happen because someone would eventually break a arm or leg
@@jerryupp239 I’ve heard many times that churches are a place of healing ;)
I wish there was no church. Religion is our biggest curse. The churches in the USA are all for worshiping Satan.
Best observation ever lol.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how Jake's hat doesn't fall off for those summersaults? 🤣
Their Dodge Monaco was what got me into classic cars - love this movie!
Still have the contemporaneous memory of _this_ scene seeing it for the first time in July 1980. Halfway, or so, through the movie a thunderstorm erupted and while rain pelted the roof and the theater shook from thunderclaps The Blues Brothers played on. My wife and I were beginning our summer vacation. After the movie was over we left the cool theater and the blast of heat and humidity outside was a tangible 'thing'.
James Brown was smooooooth from his perm to his moves!!!!!
I was in Zimbabwe one day and had a service just like this.. People all over the World love God.. America needs a Revival... Now
Still one of my favorite John Landis movies of all time. Dan and John together was awesome!
This movie never gets old!
Definitely a classic 👌they don't make movies like this anymore, such a shame
Thanks satan, they don't make movies like this anymore
They never made a movie like this before, either. It owes a great debt to what came before, but it's a truly unique experience.
@@Mattwarszawa it’s a piece of “Americana”. Back when the US actually had artists make real original art, instead of just CGI-heavy soulless “remakes” of every actual original property from the 80’s and 90’s.

I love the little fellah in the sharp grey suit and the fully coiffered hairdo conducting the choir, doesn't miss a beat, solid performance, doesn't get enough recognition 😆😆😆😆😍😍what a star!
It is scary how good the music in this movie was.
All of these great artists were at lulls in their careers, when disco was king and people weren't quite as up for people like Aretha, Ray, Cab Calloway, Hooker, and even JB. The producers got them all for a pittance, but it helped revive their careers.
The most spectacular vision anyone could ever have! My favorite scene in the movie

As a child growing up, this was always me and my siblings favorite scene. We 100 percent identified with the music, the choir, the preacher, and the members dancing "in the spirit". Still love this movie after all these years.
Not the sexiest thing to point out, but the editing in this scene is incredible.

This movie is full of Blues, & r n b royalty
Omg. I have watched this movie my entire life and never noticed this!

Blues Brothers is one reason why I think I was lucky to have been able to spend better part of my life in the 20th century.
Is it morol or moral and which one is masking humans? Or voting for slavery? or sending in the army?
Even Elvis Presley saw the Light and was with the Spirit of God. Rest in Peace The King.
I don't think you could assemble this much musical talent in one Movie today without egos getting in the way. The s Artist were down to Earth people, the King and Queen of Soul in the same Movie. It doesn't get any better.
Ok this is my church.💖
You would see the light 4 sure.
I visited a Black church years ago and it was just like this. I’d never seen anything like it. The people were yelling and jumping hysterically.
Just wait to you see people fall out at church! Which was so funny in this scene, where they carried the man out, hahaha

I ain't religious nor do I have any kind of deconversion story but I do love me some Blues Brothers and this church scene has to be one of the greatest movie scenes in cinematic history. And while I would never fall for any religious dogmas, I can't deny wanting to partake in such a raucous good time. As I understand it, this scene is only just barely an exaggeration?
