    Bullet Dance is the character theme for Noel Vermillion, the girl in the thumbnail.

  • @Sekainoowaride
    @Sekainoowaride Před 4 měsíci +27

    Black Aggression is Kagura Mutsuki's theme, a high ranking Officer in the "Evil Empire" of the story, but he's a double agent working for the good guys. Maybe he has a navy too? Can't remember lol. But that's probably why he has the "Pirate".

  • @Sekainoowaride

    All the songs in BB Chrono Phantasma that have a "II" at the end had an Original ver. from either Calamity Trigger or Continuum Shift, the previous 2 games in the series.

  • @FryIronicMemeFace
    @FryIronicMemeFace Před 4 měsíci +20

    I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but all of the "II" versions of the characters themes were rearranged by a Japanese band called Galneryus. So if you like their BlazBlue remixes you should definitely check out their original stuff. It's even better.

    • @RagingFuryMC
      @RagingFuryMC Před 4 měsíci +2

      Correct if I'm wrong, but I believe only YUKI/YUHKI, the pianist from Galneryus, was the only one who joined for the arrangements of Chronophantasma, along with other musicians.

      @@RagingFuryMC Correct, the only member in the credits is Yuhki.

    The songs from Chronophantasma that end in a [II] are re-arrangements of the original character themes by the japanese Power Metal band GALNERYUS, spearheaded by pianist Yuhki - while they are based on the original compositions of Daisuke Ishiwatari, he gave the band free reign over these arrangements. Unfortunately, this project started shortly after the original band vocalist, Yama-B, left the band, so my dream of hearing his bombastic voice singing the vocal themes wasn't meant to be. But special shout-outs to the absolute beast of a drummer, Jun-ichi Satoh. His performance gave me a completely new appreciation for drumming.
    Now, the first song, Bullet Dance II, is one of the most divisive of the new arrangements, mainly because it's a whiplash in tonal shift. The original Bullet Dance was more mellow, almost half the tempo, and more focused on underlining the emotional insecurities of the representing character, Noel Vermillion (the girl on the left with the guns). The nearly speed metal levels of intensity didn't sit right with some people, but is meant to portray a shift in Noel's character to be more proactive and fight for what she believes in.
    Black Aggression is the theme of Kagura Mutsuki, a hero among the antagonistic group "Novus Orbis Librarium", or NOL for short, who actually functions as a spy for a rebel group led by the opposing faction. Dude is easygoing and laid-back, but is kinda fixated on the various ladies of the game, checking out each one's... features before a fight, and known to be kinda sleazy. His theme is often likened to Pirate Metal due to the shanty-like vibes, but he has zero pirate imagery.

    This has to be one of my favorite reactions from Jesse. He seemed so enthralled and was having a great time 👍🏿.

  • @oneish7454
    @oneish7454 Před 4 měsíci +11

    While i love Daisuke's work on guilty gear, I've always felt that his Blazblue compositions had more variety. He seems to have grown more experimental with Strive though.

  • @StaticGorilla
    @StaticGorilla Před 4 měsíci +9

    Here's the thing...IMO, at this time, Daisuke still had something to prove. Therefore blazblue and GGXX themes went so hard and were so experimental, and then when he got to BBCP, the blueprint for the songs was already set from BBCT. Anyway, early Daisuke was a genius composer!

  • @FastRefleksX
    @FastRefleksX Před 4 měsíci +9

    The reason Chrono Phantasma might seem so much bigger than the others is because it introduced all the 2nd themes for all the character themes and VS themes from Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift, so it's *original* soundtrack is technically the biggest. So from your point of view, with all the requests and such, it looks that way.

  • @Biolizard_
    @Biolizard_ Před 4 měsíci +8

    Many of the II themes have a "raw" guitar feel which is probably why they're being suggested to you over the original versions.

    • @Biolizard_
      @Biolizard_ Před 4 měsíci +6

      Tacking onto this a bit it would be interesting to see you do a double feature for both the original and II version the next time a II theme comes up.

  • @digiopsnyc
    @digiopsnyc Před 4 měsíci +5

    Back when the ingame music was replaced by the 'II' versions for character themes, a lot of players thought they went a little /too/ ham compared to the originals. Looking back now though, all BB is nostalgic. It will always be the fighting game of all time for me

  • @SuperHexer123
    @SuperHexer123 Před 4 měsíci +4

    I love guilty gear's music, but blazblue will always have my heart and be my favorite Arcsys ip. Doesn't help that BB was my first proper fighting game I got into back in HS. Absolutely listened to Bullet Dance II way too many times back in the day, even if I hate Noel with passion. Can't say I listened to black onslaught that much,but as a testament to BB's ost, I remember the melody IMMEDIATELY. Definitely can't wait for more as theres 2 other tracks I hope to see in the future.
    As for the question at the end.....7h the story is a wild can of worms, but yes there is a time loop the MC is stuck in during the plot. Also the games basically follow a "linear" plot through all the releases with each new game adding onto it. Also the most recent game in the franchise was Central Fiction, and right now BB is kinda in limbo last I recall. The main creator left Arcsys, but iirc Arc still has the rights so who knows what will happen. However the last game basically wrapped up the grand narrative so if it ends at Central Fiction I wouldn't mind.

  • @lemmingsplat5279
    @lemmingsplat5279 Před 4 měsíci +5

    The reason why the songs are numbered is just to do with the arrangements. Bullet Dance was just called Bullet Dance in Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift, and then they rearranged/updated a lot of the soundtrack for Chronophantasma and Central Fiction. IMO the mixing always sounds better in the 'II' versions, but the arrangements are more dependent on taste.
    Most 'II' versions tend to be fairly faithful to the originals, but there's one called 'Motor Head', which is pretty different to 'Motor Head II'. The original has an iconic bass part.

    • @tyrantravealpha
      @tyrantravealpha Před 4 měsíci +1

      I'll be honest, I'd say 50% of the "II" versions are worse than the originals. The other half are equal for different reasons or an actual strong evolution of the original. I have absolutely no hate for thos who disagree. Like you said, all comes down to taste.

    • @lemmingsplat5279
      @lemmingsplat5279 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yeah I also prefer the originals for the most part. But I played the shit out of CT and CS back in the day, and I wonder if part of that is because I was so used to those versions...
      A bit like when a band covers one of your favourite songs. You're unlikely to prefer it over the original!

    Thanks for the video! I love your reaction stuff, and this time, for one of my favourite songs! Hoping to see more!
    Also, I think it's fair to say that the songs with "II" are arranged by YUHKI, from Galneryus, so it's not JUST Daisuke's work. Sorry if someone already said this, but I haven't read it.

    TBH I'm more a fan of the original Bullet Dance (theme for the character Noel Vermilion) than Bullet Dance II, even though the second version is more technically complex. I just feel like something is lost with all the shredding, when the original is just more melodically solid.
    It's also worth checking out Love So Blue, which is the vocal version of the original Bullet Dance and used as a boss theme in the story mode for the original Blazblue.

      Same, GG music is great (at least I liked it up until Strive where vocal themes completely took over) but BB had something really special. Though I also want to say that Hard Corps Uprising is Ishiwatari's magnum opus, musically.

  • @turquoisenomad8418

    Bullet Dance 2 is my all time favorite Daisuke song as well, I don’t think it gets enough recognition among BlazBlue tracks which sucks because BlazBlue music ALREADY doesn’t get enough attention.

  • @Brandunfriendlyman
    @Brandunfriendlyman Před 4 měsíci +2

    BB has a LOT more personality to their songs, and they don't rely on lyrics, which the modern GG songs do, they are so much more powerful instrumentals, you can hear how fun the musicians are having with the songs, and all character themes tells you everything you need to know about the character, they are part of them. Noel (Bullet dance) makes her feel like a try hard, a person working hard to be better but still got a long way to go. Bangs theme is just a standard Shounen Anime hero theme, Taokaka is silly and fun, Rachel is more mysterious and calm, Ragnas theme is more anti hero, aggressive but with a kind feeling. This is what GG music used to be before XRD, now it's just not that good anymore.

    • @mojojojox5043
      @mojojojox5043 Před 4 měsíci +1

      I'd have to disagree with BB having more personality, I think GG and BB both have a lot of personality. The main thing is they are different takes on Metal and preferring one over the other is valid. I can see your argument against lyrics but I think there's a limit to what you can get across story wise with just an instrumental. How would you explain the experience of PTSD in an instrumental song? Or how someone is thinking philosophically on life and humanity. There are just certain specific things I don't see instrumental music getting across.

    so the thing with blazblue alot of chars have a version 2 song which reflect there chang in personality or growth. bullet dance is noel vermilions theme and II is her remix which is more just shes less childish with her perspective but also her literal limiters being removed. kinda like with ragna and rebelion and rebelion II where it gose from unfocused and angry to focused and a littel calmer still angry but not as. the only exeption to the one and two rule with themes is awakening the chaos because its for clone chars.
    i think if you liked this you would like crystal forest or must die if you havent yet

    It's valid to prefer BB over GG. I see both series' music as like Coke and Pepsi, Some prefer one over the other. I'm the opposite of you, I prefer GG music to BB haha. I find BB music a bit too unfocused for me, that probably isn't a good way to describe it but I have a tough time saying exactly why I don't like it as much as GG. Its almost like it is overly wild, like a shifting base. Nothing wrong with that of course just not something I'm drawn in by. I still enjoy listening to BB music just not something I connect to as much as GG.
