    Beinn a'Chroin in the Crianlarich range of Munros has a dispute surrounding the true summit. Some claim that it is the 942m point and others claim the 940m point.
    Join me on a solo hike along my route to 'bag' the second summit (940m) and finally claim that the range is done.
    Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you on the next one.

      Thank you, I really appreciate that and I'm glad that you enjoyed it. There's hardly anywhere in Scotland that isn't atmospheric with a bit of cloud and rain. Have you ever visited Scotland? I know that I would love to visit Japan, I've always been fascinated by different cultures.

    Great video Bry. Your a hardened Munro Top Bagger going out in they conditions. 😉 You made the right choice no camping like.

      Auch Kev ☺️ You say the nicest things 😂
      I would hardly call myself hardened but I was definitely getting that one and camping is always an option, not a necessity. It does mean you have no option in carting your gear up with you though 😂
      I'd like to do this one (again) on a clear day and get the views around. If you're going up to grab the other peak then let me know but only if it's nice weather 😂
      I've still to catch your latest outing. The preview keeps flashing up a roll n' bacon which is making me hungry so I want to see that 🥓

    Congrats on completing the Crianlarich munros. I did Beinn Chabhair yesterday (my first solo Munro) I planned on camping at the lochan but it was really boggy and the summit was too windy and I was soaked through so I never bothered with the camp. sometimes it's best to leave it whilst your still enjoying. No point in camping in the weather you were going to get if you can get off the hill safely. Another great video.

    • @AScotsmanOutdoors
      @AScotsmanOutdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      Cheers Gus. I liked Beinn Chabhair and remember it being boggy around the lochan too. When I was there the heat made that part noticeably more humid than the rest, just with all the moisture in the ground being baked.
      The summit was fairly exposed on all sides if I can remember rightly so a wind would definitely get you from all directions.
      There is absolutely no point in making life tougher for yourself so take yourself away to enjoy another day. Had it been rain, until say ten, then guaranteed clear skies for a sunrise then I would probably have stayed or if I was so far away from the car that the walk back wouldn't outweigh camping then I'd have stayed, sadly not this time.
      When I'm on the WHW later this year my hand will be forced so I'll be camping if I like it or not 😂
      Glad you liked this one and thanks for commenting.

      @@AScotsmanOutdoors I just watched your Beinn Chabhair video too, it's great. I went a different way up as I walked round the loch but it is a fantastic hill. The first bit nearly destroyed me though 🤣🤣

      Eh, do you mean you watched it again and it's still great 🙄😂
      So did you go around the right (south) side of the loch and up the south face of the Munro?
      That first climb from the campsite is a leg burner for sure. Did you have the Jumanji leaves too?
      Thanks, I'm really looking forward to it. I love journeying so know it'll be an adventure no matter what. What are your three top tips for it?

      @@AScotsmanOutdoors I don't think I watched your Beinn Chabhair video yet am sure that was the first time. If I had it must have been a long time ago.
      I went round the north side of the loch and climbed up the south side of the hill further east from where you tackled it. I avoided all the false summits. I went back the normal way.
      Yeah I had the Jumangi, it was all brambles and thorny things 🤣🤣🤣

      I was hoping for those kinds of breaks in the clouds but it wasn't happening. There were a few of those moments where the clouds above illuminated and I thought maybe these are the breaks but after I was at 500m+ it was game over for views. Although it was nice on the flip side coming back down and below 500m because the glen opened right up.

    The Clag!,, a bit miserable however atmospheric as you said Brian! is this your second round of Munros? can I ask what watch you are using? are you using it to reinforce your navigation? I would have binned the camp too! good wee watch! cheers Paul

    • @AScotsmanOutdoors
      @AScotsmanOutdoors  Před 2 lety

      Hey Paul! Yeah, as soon as I crossed 550m it was clag central and visibility was down to around 30m, which I kind of like because you need to switch on.
      The guy I have the wee shout out to literally walked for about 20 seconds and boof! Both he and his partner were gone 😂
      This is my first round of Munros but had to do this one twice for the disputed summit.
      My watch is the Suunto Core Black Yellow TX. I do use it to aid with navigation purely with the altimeter so I can gauge roughly what height I'm at then transfer that to the map. It's especially useful in weather like that. There is a compass on it but I've never used that on the hills and think it would only really be useful in an emergency. You could set a bearing on it for a guide but why would you if you have an actual compass on you?
      I also use the barometer a lot for referencing the pressure and seeing what way the weather is turning or staying.
      It's a great piece of kit and really robust.
      I would always patch a camp in weather like that if the timings were in my favour. It was forecast to stay wet for hours after I would have been home so that won hands down 😂
      As always, thanks for watching and glad that you enjoyed this one 👍🏼

    Nice one Bry, it's difficult vlogging in the clag eh? Guid feeling to complete an area even if it was pea souper hike. Bummer about the boots 🥾. I'd have panned the camp as well.

    • @AScotsmanOutdoors
      @AScotsmanOutdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      Cheers mate and yeah it is that bit tougher when there's not much to showcase, there's only so much mist you can show 😂
      It's a great feeling knowing that I'm that wee bit closer to the end... just a wee bit.
      I am gutted about the boots because they were so comfortable but have a theory about why and how they went. I've got a bit of an investigation to do though 🧐
      The camp was a no brainer once the weather changed, 19 hours vs 4 🤷🏻‍♂️
      Cheers as always mate 👍🏼
