I don't like feinting at all I prefer characters with in built soft feinting like kensei or pk I'm actually enjoying ok since I got back into the game
Absolutely love this different styled video.
I always thought Option Selecting was predicting what they would do and hitting a move before hand. Like you know they will feint into GB. Because you are predicting the GB you attack right after they throw the heavy ahaha.
Please do more of these guides on literally anything for this game. Even if I know this stuff I love watching them to see other perspectives and for other people to see modern guides that aren't from like 3 years ago. Super interesting to watch.

Surprisingly, many people did not know what option selecting was. Basically, playing with Russian players, they “parrying” with the zone, but now, fortunately, more and more people learn about this mechanic. Спасибо!

IF anyone is still confused - FORGET the term option select. And replace it with these words. (Disrupt/Counter/Evade) those are 3 things you can do when your opponent attacks. If he goes for a heavy attack for example... You can sheild bash him, roll out of the way, OR you could parry the attack. THESE are options you have. Hence the term " option select " With that being said if you throw a light attack and a heavy combo.... And your light attack lands and he parrys your heavy... Now it's time to fight 1 lvl above him. Land your light attack then fake the heavy attack and sheild bash or simply attack a different zone etc.
If you're plus on block after an attack and use that frame advantage to do something fast enough to counterhit your opponent's fastest options, that's not an option select, that's a frame trap. Option selects are inputs that give you different options in different contexts, not options that cover multiple things.
Good thing we can hear frog's old keyboard because then we know how to time these maneuvers

I think maybe one more less reaction based option select is attacking through bashes. Attacking on prediction to 500ms bashes or fake out to GB is a risky yet sometimes very rewarding option select. This is especially true for peacekeeper because her 400ms attack is from the side so this allows her to more easily catch characters who change guard on dodge forward.
My favorite option select is probably kensei's dodge forward into GB. If the attack is followed through and isn't unblockable, it can be guaranteed a GB. If it isn't and is feinted to GB, kensei can buffer a counter GB attempt and safely counter it. This was spammable pre-rework by constantly switching your guard to match your opponent and constantly doing it, forcing your opponent to wait out your stam or get lucky and guard switch and attack without being GBed out of. (ngl was kinda sad to see that one go)
Just an idea; a widewalk punisher warden intro would be dope af

I figured it out intuitively maybe half a year ago when every gladiator i fought was doing it but i didn't know what "option select" was until maybe a few weeks back
Figured it out when people rolled away from feinted unblockable heavy (to dodge the hug) started to use it myself but couldnt get it to work. Still fails sometimes cuz i dont unlock and spam the dodge button even when i didnt even go backwards. You can btw pres dodge any direction and while youre dodging if you unlock itll autonatically roll. But why leave it at faith when you can spam that dodge hahaha

ahhh i always i guess understood the basic but never knew its name or really thought about it. i guess im still too stuck in the year one mindset where that was kinda the norm and it was mindgaming a opponents strong defense rather than using your moveset well.

I always wondered why people kept dodging my Warmonger XD It's option selecting! The issue to why they still lose is because they don't know what to do if I don't commit and instead go for a guardbreak or her forward heavy. I never knew what or why they did it, I always thought it was a panic thing to do, which it kinda is but it has purpose.
