- This was the moment Artur Dalaloyan and Nikita Nagornyy had been waiting for, and nothing - not even a torn Achilles tendon in April nor a global pandemic - was going to keep them from it.
ROC won its first Olympic men's team gold medal since the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games on the backs of the duo that has dominated the sport for three years. They totaled 262.500 to hold of hosts Japan. China was third at 261.894.
The gold medal in the men's team final came down to what they could do on the floor exercise. Dalaloyan, who wasn't even sure he would compete on floor exercise three days ago, delivered a solid routine only months after his major injury.
Japan was solid all the way through competition, bettering their total from qualifying. It was not enough, however, against a surging ROC team.

It's incredible to watch How those Roc men kept completly focused and serious through ALL the competition, but in the end, they released ALL the pressure with tears of Joy and relief.

The perfomances were beautiful to watch, but what to talk about the sportsmanship demonstration and the emotional atmosphere that took place ? It gave the shivers to see the boys crying, hugging each other, shaking their heads in disbelief, clapping for each other. OMG.

But honestly i was so happy for everyone in 1st to 4th. Really excellent work from Japan, China, and the UK. Made it a true competition down to the last minute.

So nice to hear announcers who have very clearly either been commentating on men's gymnastics before and are familiar with the athletes' names, or have put in the effort and diligence to practice and be able to say the names smoothly!
Such an amazing game. It was close fight. Congrats to ROC. I'm glad that the veterans won. They really deserve it. Russia has been a runner up for so long in teams (1996 was last) and now it's their time to shine. =)

Even before I knew who won, I always thought the Roc team is the most badass team and they are my fav to win the title. For me, they got that Spurs 2000s vibes on them.

Strange sensation seeing them in tears of joy after watching all those videos of gymnastics in Nikita's channel and other media, all those years they have (well; David, Nikita and Arthur more often) worked together in and out of competitions until they won that olympic gold.

Really happy for the Russian team winning gold medal esp Artur :). They were doing good until FX. Luckily, those mistakes didn't cost them gold medal
I heard that Nagornyy changed some elements in his floor routine last minute to secure the win but I could be wrong
Nagornyy had the highest score of the day on FX, shockingly. Tbh they couldn't ask for more from Artur, Denis is the one who could have done a lot better.
@@SarahZi1998 he had to make up like half of it on the spot! he screwed up his third pass (did a 2.5 twist, barani, double twist instead of what he usually does - 2.5 twist, full twist, rudi), but he usually does a double twist down the side for his fifth pass. since you can't repeat elements, and he wanted to make up the difficulty he lost on his third pass, he did a triple twist down the side instead.
doing a triple twist down the side is kind of insane? like he shouldn't have enough space to pull it off but he actually did. being able to do that under so much pressure... if he hadn't, ROC wouldn't have won gold
Denis recovered from his 2 legs injury and his former coach ditched him. Glad he got a coach who have faith in him.

The NBC commentators here in the US could learn a thing or two from these commentators! They acknowledge and talk about EVERY gymnast not just fixated on one gymnast
If i remember rightly, Nikita usually does a triple twist to finish but in order to get the higher difficulty score and higher points overall, he did the triple twist as his side pass and finished with a half in half out. his final two passes were improvised. brilliant thinking by Nikita. Well deserved ROC

Sun Wei's vault was underscored. He has superior leg form to pretty much every MAG athlete competing and doesn't get nearly enough credit for that. Getting the same E and Xiao and only a tenth or two higher than Lin is criminal. Should've been at least a 9.4 E

The 0.3 deduction to Zou's parallel bar routine is from him forgetting to salute to judges before he starts. Xiao Run Teng also received 0.3 deduction on his final high bar routine in Individual All-Around for not saluting to judges. I'm very surprised by the lack of awareness and reminding from Chinese coaching on this issue and it happened multiple times in this Olympics that cost them at critical moments.
Didn’t know for Zou, I thought he made a mistake during the routine.
Lesson learned for them now I guess
