Its not about not wanting to bother people. Its because they dont want to sound aggresive/angry. They deal with alot of aggresive/angry people daily. They just want to keep the interaction civil. They dont want to set anybody off. I watch their vlogs, its an eyeopener. About the doorbell, its not a common thing in the philippines. So many from the lower income class dont know what it is or how to use it.
Appreciate your channel and advice! Been extremely helpful. On this vid I agree with 'Tip and guide' the delivery guys. But if you think they haven't been berated by foreigners for showing up at inopportune times and become hesitant then you WRONG on this one Steve. Thx for all you do for us dreamers! Amping
Steve, I send everything Fed-Ex to my P.O. Box here. I have a mail forwarding service in the US. Fed-Ex is expensive but everything in 3-5 days guaranteed.
Are there still Or used to be Mail service that would receive mail SCAN YOU A PICTURE then you decide if you want it then they actually express mail or open and scan, then you decide the next step?
Hi! When I lived in Olongapo, my late wife’s college mates would sometimes come to study with her on weekends. I would find it amusing that they would stand in front of door, ignore the knocker and ring bell switch, then lightly say “knock knock.”
I openned a Po box at the post ofice in Quezon City, 1,250 peso per year....than I get all my mail transfer from my last adress to intenatinal via Canada post. I have never miss any mail since I got this done. Bank card ect.....
Hi Steve. Yeah... Mail. I got mail in Thailand from the states in 2 weeks. Here in the Philippines it took over a month. I was worried about mail coming to the Philippines and rightly so. So now I am thinking... When I need a package or letter from the States, I will take a vacation. Problem solved!!! At least in my opinion. I love Thailand and I have no problema taking a vaca there. Also... being solo has its advantages. Like coming and going whenever.
I leave money for COD on my gate if I'm not going to be there. I have my Lazada guys up to speed. Now other deliveries I am still educating some of them. Today, I told water delivery guys just bang on my gate. They said no, sir, afraid the dog will bite. I said no she's inside.🤣
I'm retired in Cebu City and my son in Oregon sent me a birthday card by USPS registered mail in May of 2022 and I received it here in April of 2024-------------------better late than never, I guess.
Give Respect and you will be treated better. IF you have a child, have the child explain the situation, Worked for me,, If you have a Pinay GF, wife,. Have her going with you, Just a white face, might not get much results, but RESPECT, does, also some gift, Few kilo's of fruit from the market. Sure this might seem Alien Concept to us Americans but remember you Are not in America, you are a guest in the Philippines and that is a privilege..
Yes. People here want respect. No problema. But why is it ok for the locals to not treat foreigners fairly? They don’t respect foreigners. They don’t treat foreigners fairly. Pretty much a one way street in my book. No problema. I try not to interact as much as possible. Problem solved.
Mail (USPS to P.I.) takes forever to arrive in the Philippines! My 1 experience, sending mail to my (then) Fiancee took over 3 weeks. Now I just pay the extra and ship documents FedEx. Packages are a different story, similar to yours
Hi Steve, so my main take away from this video, is that you like Golden Earring, & they're a good band. But on the other hand, I prefer Deep Purple. 💜 1970's rock rules!. 🎸🎹🥁🎤
I've had boxes sent and signed for to my girlfriends house, yet they mysteriously disappeared. When I confront my girlfriend with the information I have, she denies it . Delivery people in the philippines have the same issue, and that is dogs . They talk softly and then listen to see if they need to run away. Many of the dogs in the philippines are not vaccinated for rabies, and a bite can put you through a series of shots .
I have no problem getting packages, but what about the mail? I never got my Christmas cards from my family back in the U.S. My sister, my daughter and my son sent me cards back the first of December. Where does it go? What happens to it? I send mail to my family and they get it no problem. Why do you need to call them? Why don’t they automatically deliver it? I have a Mail Drop . Just drop it in my mail hole, that’s what it’s for.
Give respect and it GOES A LONG WAY, remember we are GUEST here in the Philippines. One Main reason Christmas cards just disappear,is when it's received At NAIA Philpost facility, it GOES into a deep black hole if it's mailed early November, it' can beat the Rush.. WHY do they contact you before delivery, ? Some items have a custom fee, they might want to collect. Remember this is the Philippines, philpost does things Way differently.

Or consider aUSA callback number/ toll free As for me, I had a USA toll-free number, that allowed my credit card, and other needed companies. I can think back (can remember) asking Filipina's "Why" this or that (out of a sense of logical curiosity) and I'd hear the answer "be-cause" .. That was the answer (because) .. Not my favorite aspect of the Philippines ..
The problem I have is when credit cards or debit cards from my bank are sent, they don't EVER get here. I always have to persuade shippers to send by FedEx or another carrier. Oh, and yes, it always takes 3 months to get mail, even if the letter is marked "AIR MAIL."
Have you considered, having the cards sent to s USA address, then They Forward to you shipped via a reliable mail delivery service. Also consider having your card expiry dates staggered. In case a card is " lost" delayed, you still have others for back up. Have you considered a Philippine bank credit card, yes you can obtain one but it's a secured card 80% of what's deposit. May vary by bank.
