If you take some 220 sandpaper, sand the bottom of the barrel throat until it's smooth. Sand it as though you were trying to throat it but don't take a lot off. It has a sharp edge that is causing the problem. You'll need to wrap the sandpaper around a small dowel rod.

Bought one April 2021, first time out I was using Federal bulk ammo, 70 rounds and 5 misfeds just like in the video. Second time out, tried to shoot 100 rounds of Federal bulk ammo again. Every third round in the 10 or 25 magazine was a bent misfed. The scope ring screw that tightens the rings to the base also sheared off during that outing. Found your video looking for answers to the misfeds and wished I had gone with a 10/22 like I had planned. Not wanting to give up on it, I asked around and was told to try mini mags, that the A22 likes round nose bullets. The second outing I had 5 CCI blazer left and it cycled those just fine, figured it couldn't hurt to try the mini mags. Third outing it fired 50 mini mags without a single issue, thought lets try the Federal bulk ammo again as it is readily available here. Fired 300 rounds without a single issue too. Only thing different between the second and third outing, I left the 10 round magazine filled with 10 rounds of Federal ammo for 2 months while debating on selling the gun. I saw a few videos when loading with the bolt closed, the rear of the magazine does not always sit properly, resulting in bent bullets. Now I ensure the bolt is locked open and the rear of the magazine is fully inserted, then slide my hand forward to lock the front in. Since the third outing, I have put a full box of 525 count bulk Federal ammo through the gun, without a single misfed. The only issue I have had was 1 stove pipe in 12F(-11C) weather. Never cleaned it between any of the outings.

I've seen many .22s choke on bulk lead round nose ammo, even my Ruger Mk Target doesn't feed it well. Like the firearm the ammo can be CRAPPY as well. But for my money I expect my firearms to shoot what I put in them. But I try to buy quality ammo. I'd save the uncoated lead for my bolt action.

G'day. I know it's a 10 month old vid, but had to comment. I have the A22R (repeat lever for Australia) and I had 4 or 5 misfires in the first 20 rounds. I never had any feed jams though. I spoke to another guy at the range who said he had dramas if he loaded over 6 rounds in the mag. I had, by then, already taken to tapping the rear of the loaded mag gently on the table, stock, 50 round plastic ammo box (whatever), and I haven't had a single misfire in 1000 odd rounds. Worth a try. Shouldn't have to, but it works as a simple fix with mine. Have a second magazine that also works fine with a little tap, although it sounds like yours might be struggling with a bigger issue.

It was total garbage, I could never get it zeroed, it threw rounds all over. I sent it back, and they sent me a brand new one. That rifle left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I never fired the new one they sent me and traded for a S&W victory pistol. The pistol was great right out of the box. Hate that for you, I would feel the exact same way you do..
    BUT
4 months on mine, no problems. Bought another for my son, 2 months now, no problems. CCI Mini-Mags, and Winchester X 38gr, they will misfire in the first 100, and yes they did bend some cases, but it cleared up after wiping the factory grease out, and a proper gun oil cleaning. My old Marlin model 60 was no better, my Ruger 10/22 was only easier to find accessories, and it flat out-shoots my Savage model 64 in every way. For my money, the A22 has been a really good gun so far.
I will add that there is a definite difference in these 2 guns. Mine is an FV SR Overwatch .22LR 47240. It runs well, easy to disassemble, and easy to reassemble with the scope mounted. My son's 47200 looks exactly like yours, runs well, but the bolt sticks during disassembly, and doesn't want to fit back in the receiver on re-assembly, but when you hold your mouth just right, and the spirit wolf howls, it slips right in like it's got hair around it or something.. The scope isn't in the way, we have tall mounts on his, medium height rings on mine. I'll be doing a little file work on it if it doesn't clear up on it's own, as we break it in.
Reading through the other comments, I went back and tried to see which magazine you're using, My A22's have the spring and lever release. The bent plastic clip is the same as on my Savage Axis 22-250 magazine, it feeds perfectly, but I have also seen comments about the bent plastic clip magazines not working properly on the A22's, and some complain of failures with the B22's with plastic clip magazines.
    Best of luck Country Boy!

All ranges are different but my favorite doesn't allow rapid fire. Occasionally someone will show up and do it but the range master will warn them. I've even seen a guy thrown off the range because he was warned twice, third time he was told to leave . It's a public (county) range, the club ranges just don't have the budget to have full time range masters

  • @stupidsmart-phone6911

1st: I know the video is almost 3yr old.
2nd: read the comments, it seems to be split on good or bad. Doesn't instill confidence.
3rd: makes me think 22cal is a hobby gun that needs to be tweaked, based on several comments.
4th: what brand(s) ammo did you use? In my new Henry AR-7 it misfed all Aguila and CCi types, but shoots Remington Golden and Winchester SuperX perfect. (I'm working on an experiment to test nearly a dozen other types).
5th: I'm looking for a 22WMR and I'm leaning towards bolt action, the B22F or G specifically, but another youtuber suggested filing a point on the bolt to make it smoother action. Another reason I'm starting to think 22 as a hobby gun. I went to a store and checked several bolt actions in 22 and 17 and sure enough there is a sharp edge making the closing action a bit rough. Ruger American was the only smooth one.
Lastly, I wish there were more options for test firing before buying. Some stores do, but most with ranges you have to use the designated rental gun. If I get another semiauto 22LR it'll be a Ruger 10/22, otherwise I'm sticking to revolvers and bolt action. That's just my preference. I'm not going to war with it. But if I were hunting, misfed ammo both ruins the shot and wastes ammo.

  • @donrenfro3750
    @donrenfro3750 Před 9 měsíci

You are likely loading your rotary magazines incorrectly. First, I cleaned all my magazines with isopropyl alcohol and some swabs then let them dry. Then I wiped down the magazines with some Lucas Slick Mist pump spray for lubrication using swabs. I have never had any issues with FTF or FTE using various types of .22lr ammo. I mounted a cheap Weaver 3-9 x40 scope on it and had it zeroed within 10 shots at 50 yards hitting a 3-inch circle consistently. I was quite surprised with the accuracy and am pleased with my results with the Savage A22. No complaints from me on anything. Don't load magazines into the housing with the bolt forward. Always latch back the bolt, load the magazine into the well, then chamber the round.

Used CCI Stingers and CCI Mini Mags. Also used Remington and Winchester Super X as well as others. I tried at least 6 different types of ammo as well as 4 different high velocity rounds . The issue was in the machining of the parts , we finally gave up on it after sending it in to Savage and it coming back. They said it was in the “ machining of the parts “ and replaced some internals. Odd thing is usually manufacturers tell exactly what parts they replace but Savage did not. Anyway mine is just a lemon still jams at least once a magazine while all 7 of my other semi automatic .22’s from other brands run great!
