I remember Thomas saying that shortly after she got back, Emily told him that she thought she had been away for nearly a year. That was how long it felt to her, and children don't have the same concept of time that adults do anyway. How can a child process or ever fully recover from something like that? One thing I'm thankful about is that at least nobody physically hurt her - other than not giving her enough food - and that she was there with people who cared about her and looked after her. The thought of a child going through something like that alone is unimaginable.

As a survivor of childhood trauma I can tell you Emily will never be the same. She will be checking locks, doors, closets, under beds, behind shower curtains.
Be aware, this is a life journey.
And the same happened to Palestinian and Gaza's childrens.

We tend to forget the terrible toll on the families of the hostages, so well expressed by this dear man. Thank God his little one is home and he is so wise in allowing her to slowly find her way back to feeling secure and happy again. May God bless you both❤️🙏🏼

Imo the interviewer asked some pretty dumb questions, also kept grinning at some inappropriate times considering she was covering such a painful topic for both father and daughter.

They have or they did have, thousands of beautiful children and marvelous parents to the 10,000 dead children in Gaza.
Such a resilient child. This story brings tears to my eyes, despite the happiness of her coming home. Its unspeakable what has been done to these innocent people. I pray all these families might have the relief of their loved ones coming home safe. God bless you all.

Resilience is only partial. Some aspects of her trauma will not come to the surface until she's older when her mind allows it. This child needs to reconnect with her childhood before the kidnapping so that part of her isn't frozen in time, so she can restore her sense of autonomy and value and self- reliance and fully heal.

She is probably protecting her dad & fam from further trauma by acting better than she is. And/or has suppressed sooo much, she is unable to face her reality the past weeks she was held captive.
It will bubble up, however. Either in a need to finally talk about it, or in different behavioral issues as she gets older.
I hope & pray she gets the much needed mental health care, ASAP.

Glad to hear Thomas feels it's therapeutic to speak about the family's ordeal. His relationship with his daughter is something a lot of fathers would envy. He is a solid character.

You need to study some recent history about what has happened since 1948 and see how complicit Israel, was in creating the Hamas as it is now. Hamas started like a local government to run Gaza. The tunnels were built to get food into Gaza and other essential items for hygiene and health, especially for women. Of course goats and sheep. You probably don't even know Israel has sheets of paper with a table showing what food could go in to keep all on a minimum calorie diet, it can be found if you look. Israel fostered Hamas in order to ensure there was never any agreement between The West Bank and Gaza, a " divide and rule" policy. Just check the behavior of the government, look at the facts and you will see the government of Israel is so consumed with hate there is nothing they won't do to grab power. Read what people write, not of course the Israeli propaganda that will just take you down the rabbit hole. Initially she was disassociating which is a natural automatic self-protective thing the mind does. She will likely still have moments of disassociating for a long time when any trigger or stress arises due to the habit her mind learned in order to survive.
Keep speaking out. The world needs to hear Emily's and your family's story.

I was so happy that this little girl came back alive to her father. I remember his despair when she was imprisoned in Gaza, and his pain was terrible to see. I wish that all the hostages would come back safely.

My heartfelt love goes out to this dear man and Emily who have been through such cruel terror and trauma ,and to all of the remai ing hostages and their waiting and hoping relatives and friends . I do worry thought that interviewing Emily and her dad ,it must upset her when he says certain things, such as the guilt he feels at other hostages still held captive anf that the family is broken , incase she feels she has to put on a brave face for her dad during the interview . She's very young and has seen the war from a very different viewpoint to his and knows exactly what it was like .She may feel protective of her dad and has to pretend sometimes so as notto upset him in such interviews .It'a a difficult situation for a child to be in. I pray that she will recover a more in time , but I don't think it will ever be completely erased from her mind ,or any of the other hostages and their families . Every time I see Emily and her dad , i just want to hug them .🤍

Imagine, I could have been there myself, because I was a soldier in Kibbutz Nirim, in early 1960's.
When I terminated my army service there, some of my group of soldiers, stayed in Nirim, others in Nir-Oz, to join the community there, and became members of Kibbutz .
But I had small brothers and sisters, and had to leave the Kibbutz and go back to the city, to help my family...
For many years after, when I became independent, living and working in noisy city... I always regretted so much, that I could not choose to stay in the Kibbutz...
Just to think, I could have been pulled by my hair, and dragged to the unknown dark place, with them monsters... "Zetim"
So my life was saved, but others lost their homes and their lives
in a mess...
I was so shuttered , on that Saturday...
I had no idea it was so terrible no less than

Every day since that day, I see and hear such painful facts. It torture me emotionally, about other captives still in Gaza, and so sad for every Israeli soldier, killed or wounded in the war😢

As a survivor of childhood trauma, I know how hard it can be as a Christian woman. However, I take comfort in the fact that God never leaves or forsakes us. I experienced sexual abuse and psychological manipulation, which has led me to be hyper-vigilant and always check doors and shower curtains. But, as Emily grows up, I believe she will have an advantage because Emily will have a quiet voice within her that most people don't pay attention to. This voice will help her recognize evil and give her a warning. In my life, this has happened a few times, but unfortunately, some people don't listen. However, I know that Emily's dad will always believe her, and her small safe voice will be a gift to those who need it. She will be able to give great advice and warn her friends family members and anyone who is having trouble with certain people who have bad intentions, like pedophiles , and scammers. Her instinct will be spot-on, and she will be able to tell if someone is not to be trusted. I believe that her quiet voice is the Holy Spirit, and it will guide her to help others.
No child on earth should face any kind of war. My heart goes to Emily and her precious recovery. My heart aches for every kid still in Gaza suffering this grownups' madness. May God forgive the world because we know no mercy and no cure for our infinite thirst of vengeance.
