Are you pulling good focus (not zoom) with your gimbal wheel? Post a link to your footage! I want to see who is using their focus wheel on real world shoots and getting pro results.

      @ArchWayE Před 4 lety +1

Why isn't any gimbal communicating with the autofocus of these camera manufacturers? Proper focus pulling with manual lenses. Adding weight to a mirrorless camera system is counterproductive. Best I can do on the a7 iii is to set my continuous autofocus area and try to work with it for the shot. I can manual focus pull better without all of these gimbals for DSLM.....

The weebill Lab (and probably weebill S too) follow focus has a hard stop. Once you set the A-B point, It doesn't stop the control wheel, but the motor won't turn anymore when it reached the points. It's not perfect as a true had stop on the control wheel, but what do you think?

Hi Brandon, you can set focus point A and point B in the advanced menu / ifocus / F1 if you’re on the F1 focus port / set A and set B. I won a free mini dual handle with the gimbal and it help a lot in the handling of certain shots. It’s not as big as usual dual handles too. I feel you with the problem to see the focus and to me it’s due to the so small camera screen we can’t be precise enough.

Brandon Li is literally the gimbal master, or say in general the master of motion shooting style. Last year when I was in a film school in Madrid doing my master's, in the montage/editing class, the professor has played the entire video of Brandon Li's "Andalucia" as a masterpiece example of the skill and idea the he was trying to show.
Every single gimbal company should consult him before releasing the product in the market.

Thank god i waited for reviews. I was super tempted to get this, especially with them giving away the follow focus motor with it. Lesson learned, always wait for reviews.
Also at trade show interviews for this gimbal, the Gudson reps stated a max payload of 2.5kg. Now they claim a payload of 3.2kg....
When i'm ready to get myself some gimbal action i'll go for Zhiyun's Weebill S.
One last thing i've just noticed whilst watching you move the gimbal around as your talking on your sofa, it seems to be struggling to keep a level horizon.

Hi Brandon i think you are the only person who uses a gimbal all out. Most use a gimbal for nice clean simple shots so nicer panning or up and down or follow. not shots like how you use them you use your gimbals like you are dancing with it, hence your videos come out in a flow,. Even watching how you capture footage i bet very few people are running with there gimbal or using it the way you do. The next Gimbal i will get is the Brandon li Gimbal i see how you shoot and that is how i like to shoot things. different angels different view points that others wont think of or see, I am over 6ft so i like to get over head shots. Also use a mono pod that is around 6ft full length so adding that to my high means i can always get over head shots. always look forward to your videos as the angels you shoot just sets the mind going ,

I purchased this on release date and use it weekely for weddings, using the A7iii and 16-35GM it autotunes at around 80 for everything so maybe yours has an issue with that, mine loves to vibrate! And its really stable walking straight but it does not really like parallax, the weight limit is also abit of a lie, my crane 2 is rock steady at 100% when I press buttons on the camera, this gimbal moves about and vibrates at 100% like crazy, that being said its still good for weddings as the basics are really good, hopefully they can sort out smoothness with firmware

  • @reginaldworthington7558

Yes - ‘if’ Moza is watching. Let’s hope they are because you laid out some really useful upgrades here and many can be firmware corrected. One mechanical hack that may be worth considering. You know how on some lenses like Olympus and Panasonic you have a clutch that allows you to slide the focus ring between hard stop and fly-by-wire? Why not implement that easy mechanical mod into the focus wheel on the gimbal? Great video Brandon - am considering this for use with P4K right now so got a lot of info here that won’t be likely be coming from a camera shop sales person!

So, if you change lens it can fully auto-calibrate and remember configs with 3 custom buttons so we don't need to go into the menu system.

Thank you very much for your video, I was just one click away from buying this gimble to make real estate videos, to use on a Canon EOS R with the EF 11-24mm lens but now I am very worried, I was deciding between this and Zhyun Webill-S , passionate about Zhyun's apparent ergonomics but worried about not finding his carrying capacity ... Now I'm more lost than when I started searching for a gimble, I thought Mozza Across was the solution, because I need something portable to carry a set really heavy and clumsy like Lens 11-24 ... In your opinion do you think you can take a chance on the mozza with my equipment or is it out of the question ...?

I tried Moza Aircross 1st gen and had the same problems with vibrating motors, only back then I was not able to easily fix that, since it was way too random, so I decided to send that gimbal back. I'm sorry I have no time to deal with stupid shit like that in a commercially available product and not some kickstarter prototype. Now seeing that they haven't really addressed that even in this new gimbal tells me to stay away from their products. Plus to be honest without Steadyshot (IBIS) their gimbals aren't really doing such a stellar job anyway.
Also the thing with Moza is exactly like you've described: it's kinda all or mostly all there but it doesn't feel all that great and really thought out. Surely some things are better than competitors (like not having to hold that stupid trigger - whoever came up with that crap and decided it was a great design can go to hell) but it's still not quite polished enough, imo.
Anyway, always appreciate your reviews, just wish you would also make few tests without any IBIS/lens IS to actually represent what the gimbals by itself can do, without the aid of camera/lens optical stabilization. But regardless, big thanks!

I don't know about the storage box but regarding focus, most film shoots use a second operator just to pull focus. Sometimes directly on the camera and sometimes remotely with a wireless unit. Camera operator almost never direcly pulls focus when using gimbal or steadicam.

Thanks for the honest review. The autotune doesn’t work on my air cross 2 either even with the last firmware. With a A7 and 28-75 it goes also to near 100% on all, but when you manually set it up it works properly on 70/90/60. On a A6500 it’s much worser. Autotune suggests 80/60/60 and the gimbal is still shaking. Manually settings with 10/30/20 are working perfectly. I think the firmware isn’t that great, the manual to simple and the support is terrible. Sometimes the don’t answer at all.

finally somebody not just praising a free gift from manufacturer.
Great points but they hardly ever listen. All concentreated to beat rival's gimmicks like small locks mimicks etc.

The product will only improve as much as the market demands it. So that's why I make these videos - it's more for the manufacturer than for the audience. I'm telling them how to make a product that will be better than the competition. And I'm letting them know that "good enough" isn't good enough for real world shooting.

Try adding a small shaft to the base of the gymbal, instead of the tropod legs, and have a counter weight on the bottom. It wont be as agile as making the top lighter but at least itll be balanced at your wrist axis

Got the moza air 2. It stabilized well but the quality control of these companies is what's not being talked about enough.
First one was totally broken. Replacement worked but batteries failed in weeks. Months later leather grip is peeling off. Total crap QC, but once you maintain it all it works.

when using the wheel all other axis turns to lock mode, it is the biggest annoy for moza. I return this and back to zhiyun because of this issue.

Brandon, sige! Filming in the Philippines! My wife is Pinay.
Question: Can we just do all focusing with the camera alone, instead of involving the gimbal? In fact, why involve the gimbal in focusing at all? Salamat!

Interesting that the motors were pushing it so much. I was considering the Aircross 2 or the Moza Air 2. Payload is a big deal so sounds like I'll definitely go with the Moza Air 2 then. What do you think has better stabilization Brandon?

I'm really considering buying this gimbal but I don't know if it is compatible with a Cannon m50. I also have never used a gimbal... How hard is it to set up?
