French president Nicolas Sarkozy arrived in Britain on Wednesday on the first state visit to Britain by a French president in 12 years.

The two-day state is visit was aimed at creating a new era of trust between the neighbouring nations.
Sarkozy said in an interview in advance of his arrival that France and Britain must work together on defence, immigration, and the economy.
