    I have replaced my air bags TWICE in 15 years and really appreciate your instruction on how to remove the air lines. I had to learn the hard way and it took me way, way too long to figure it out on my own. YOUR VIDEO WILL BE OF GREAT HELP TO THOSE REPLACING THEIR OWN REAR AIR BAGS. Thanks!

    As far as I can tell, yours is the only video on CZcams that explains how to remove the air line. Like many others, I struggled and stopped to search if someone had done a video. MANY THANKS!

    Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this vid. One of my 2005 H2 SUT rear bags has started going down after its parked. I just ordered 2 new rear bags (air springs).
    I could not determine how to remove the air line. This vid shows in detail how to do so. Now I look forward to changing them.
    Thanks again!

    Prior to viewing this video and another... I could not get my hand high enough to release the tube lock, so I trimmed about 1/2 inch of my rear wheel well inner shield material so I could get my hand in from the wheel well to push down on the hose coupler. THAT HELPED GREATLY! If someone does that, just cut the shield material carefully so as to not cut away too much. But it really helps with getting access to the top of the air bag hose coupler.

      Definitely good advise. I didn't figure this out until after cutting the line, but I know exactly what your talking about. That would forsure help.

    I ended up putting coils in too. I got new airbags but I just put them away for now. I couldn't figure out how to get the line back on them. I had to cut the line to get them off, there's no room to work up there when you pull them down. And I couldn't get the line back in the new ones. I tried to do it later too just pulling the line down and holding the airbag up there. I couldn't get that deal to push down. Maybe because I cut the line and that part is different. I kind of want to go back to air bags mainly because when I have kids in back it runs the compressor and there's no fuse to pull. You don't have to pull those plastic boots on the bottom part though. I left mine in and the springs go right over them.
    Yes, lifting for springs unless you use a spring compressor you have to lift it up quite a bit, it's like 22" from axel up to top of the spring cylinder. I lifted with two jacks for safety.

    There isn't any slack in that line and still very hard to get two hands on this procedure. Better to snip the air line and put on an extension with MORE slack.

      @shanemattox6548  Před rokem

      That would definitely save a lot of time. If bags are deflated, you can lift off axle to give enough room for removal, but if someone has the parts to add an extension, I would do that too.

    I am looking for a way to DISABLE the 40 mph auto lowering function. I would like to keep my 2007 Hummer H2 rear air bags at the highest setting without it automatically lowering at 40 mph.

      I would be lying if I said I knew how. Good question. Would love to hear what you find out.

      @@shanemattox6548 I like the profile/look of my Hummer when the rear is higher than the front.
      Likely left over from my youth (69 years-old) when we all used air shocks on the back of our Muscle Cars (Mine included 69 GTO, 73 Corvette, 77 TransAM) and I have always liked that look.
      I need the ability to raise and lower, because as the video below shows, even with the air bags lowered, the roof racks on my H2 WHIFFFFF the weather stripping when I enter my garage.
      1/4 inch higher and I either take out my garage or rip off the light bar.
      BUT, once I get out of the garage, I keep the rear air bags fully inflated as long as I can, but that 40 mph auto lowering function is obnoxious to me.
      I have to back down my driveway and hit the brakes to force the air out of the rear bags in order to get in my garage.

    I have a question i have mint 2007 hum v bought it from a mason . has low miles the airbags look good and work . But how do you get the water moisture out of the air system ?
    and thank you for this video as well . Do you have any videos how to drop an oil pan and clean out the intake hose i want to do that next. thx Like my military truck i can do it from levers under it . but not this h2

    • @shanemattox6548
      @shanemattox6548  Před 2 lety

      I haven't had to worry about water moisture, but can you drop the air lines and run constant air through the lines to help dry them maybe? I haven't had to drop oil pan yet. Only more of the front side of engine so I won't be much help.

    I broke one of those supporting mounts the air bag sits on and I can’t find one anywhere….do you have any extra or do you know where I can get one?

    • @shanemattox6548
      @shanemattox6548  Před 3 lety +1

      You should be able to find one at a junk yard. Also there are some H2s being parted out on Craig's list.
