I had the great pleasure to meet Mr. and Mrs. Tom Landry. It was late 1960s, can't remember exact date. He was a passenger in a small regional airline I worked for. I was a flight attendant and they were the only passengers on board. Because it was prop plane (DeHavilland Twin Otter) we could fly low and slow. We were flying from Maui to Honolulu and the pilot flew just off Molokai. The cliffs of the island fascinated Mr. Landry as I was describing the island as we passed by. He was a true gentleman. Of course it helped that I was a Cowboys fan since the days of Eddie LeBaron. Mrs Garson is also one of my favorite actresses. Great performance and a worthy win for Mrs Minever.
Thomas Wade Landry is a football legend. He was not only a coach but also an innovator..He invented schemes and ideas that are still being used in today's game. Read the book Lombardi and Landry and you will learn a lot .As stated by many of them..he was a father figure to many players ..including one of the greatest players of all time Bob Lilly But even more than that Landry was real hero .. a WWII pilot who flew thirty bombing mission and lost a brother in that war. He was a man of class and dignity ..something missing from today's game...I met him briefly three times and he was just a nice man.. a man who talked with you as if you were his neighbor.....no edge to him, no ego ..no attitude...Mrs. Landry had a wonderful presentation at the Dallas Historical Society ..a personal look at coach Landry and it was 2 bucks. The best two dollars I ever spent.
He's a football legend, but we're especially proud of him here in Texas. College ball at UT, Giants after that, WWII Veteran, innovative play maker, Super Bowl winning coach, role model to many young men, and a true Texas gentleman! One of a kind, that's for sure.
I first saw Greer Garson in my teen yrs in Random Harvest I wasn’t even born when it was made ,the film touched me (oh Smithy) and Greer melted my young heart. R.I.P Greer ❤
Tom was total class while living. He was the best coach ever of the Dallas Cowboys. He was really done wrong by Jerry Jones - the current owner of the Cowboys. He'll always be remembered. Peace & Love, Rick Ryan
When I was about 12 yrs old my mother, grandmother, and I were seated at table next to Greer Garson and her husband at the Zodiac Room restaurant inside Dallas' Neiman Marcus. I couldn't even eat I was spellbound. She and her husband were so sweet together. They talked and laughed as if they were on a first date. I remember how gracious they were to the waitresses. In addition, they were beautifully dressed. They both looked and acted like royalty. I assume other diners knew who they were, although that was probably 1960 so maybe not. No one bothered them. Perhaps others felt like I did that saying anything to them would be disrespectful and break the fairytale spell.
Tom Landry walked his own road, in his own way. Football became a better Sport because of his attention to detail..Perhaps being a B17 pilot made him that way, but I think he was born like that...at times he seemed a little to persistent, but the Man knew exactly what he was doing..a true Man of his time...Thanks Tom, you MADE things happen...Salute!!
Thank you Jerry for this video. Tom Landry was one of the best coaches ever. I always remember that quick clip before a game where he was so angry when the Cowboys apparently screwed up on a play. That clip played for years..a classic. As for Greer Garson...she was my all time favorite actress, beautiful, graceful and a class act. To have both on this video was such a surprise. Sad that they are both gone. You did a great job as it is informative and very respectful to 2 wonderful people.
When I first saw the title to this video....my heart sank....because the Tom Landry that I knew of was very strong in his Christian Faith....so I was thinking to myself NO WAY did Tom Landry "fool" around with Greer Garson.......so, after listening to this video "I Get It" Jerry......whew! Cheers
Thank you for taking the time and effort to share this video. I hope to physically visit this site one day. However, thanks to you, Jerry, I was able to take a virtual tour. May you both rest in peace, Buddy and Greer. Also, happy anniversary to you both.
Fantastic vid!!! Greer married her 2nd husband, the same guy who played her son in "Mrs. Miniver". I remember they kissed in the movie and I thought "Gosh, what a heavy kiss to give your mother. Until I saw your vid, I realized now why they kissed like that. Thank you for all your vids.
I had no idea that Coach Landry was at the Sparkman Hillcrest Cemetary. I went by it by accident. I told my wife that is Coach Landrys grave. She had no idea who i was talking about. Thanks Jerry
Thank you so much. That was peaceful and lovely. Garson deserved a beauty spot. Sorry the first poster was so rude. You showed yourself to be the better person.
I wish you coud come to The Dyer Memorial here in Huntsville Ontario Canada....talk about an amazing dedication to a woman by a loving husband. I would even take you there.....it is rare people go there anymore....I just recently cut the grass. It took 2 and half days to do along with the weeding of the flowers....Please look it up....what a love story.....
Holy cow!!!! How did I miss her????!!!!! I adore her. Cried like a baby when she passed away! She was from my hometown, Brooklyn. How in goodness name did I forget Edythe!!!!?????.
Gotta say, I LOVE me some Greer Garson, not quite as much as the DALLAS COWBOYS but maaaan she was a BEAUTY far before her time!!! Just last night I watched Pride and Prejudice ...and YES, I am a MAN'S MAN!
Thank you for posting. if you can I, along with hundreds of others would love to see something on Johnny Horton and Luther Perkins. keep up the excellent research kendall
Thank you for posting. I'm reading a bio if Greer Garson right now. I have been to Dallas a few times but did not know Garson was buried there. I will hope to visit the cemetery when I come next time.
One day I was talking to Viking fan on the phone and he asked me if my business was in Mission Texas home of Tom Landry. Yes sir I’m about 4 lots away where Tom live in Mission, wow that is amazing. He was a great coach.
One of Greer Garson’s most memorable movies is “Blossoms In The Dust”; where she played the part of Edna Gladney, of Fort Worth Texas. Please, make a video about Edna Gladney and the Gladney Center For Adoptions, which is still in operation.
I am in Houston always been here born and raised here. I have never liked Dallas or the Cowboys. My favorite team are the Green Bay Packers since l was a kid. My mother loved the Packers that's why l love the Packers. Greer was a real beauty she was a wonderful actress
I worked for a company back in the 80's and Tom Landry was on the board of directors. I would see him and Mrs Landry at corporate meeting and vacations 2-3 times a year. Of course everyone wanted to talk to Tom and Mrs Landry would as a Lady step back out of the way. I always talked to her and until this day never knew she was a famous movie star. They was two of the nicest people you could ever meet.
I always had great respect for coach Landry. He was a class act . After Jerry Jones hoodooed him the way he did I've never pulled for the Cowboys since. Jerry Jones is pure T trash in my opinion. If they never win another game that'll be perfectly fine with me. Thank you Mr. Skinner for this video and all the others you make. You too, good sir, are a class act.

When actresses were ladies and had class. I love her movies. I will probably never go visit her grave. But, thanks to Jerry I get to see it this way.

WOW, what a TIMELESS BEAUTY!!! Remarkable Elegance!
Both Greer and Tom Landry's wife were beautiful

I lost interest in the Cowboys after that low-life Jones rolled into town. Coach Landry was his polar opposite in character.
I worked at Republic Bank in Dallas and used to see Greer Garson on there on occasion.
From a Redskin fan RIP tom
Tom Landry was the type of man that we need a lot more of today.in the U.S.

Mr Fogleson, a close friend of my grandfather, afforded m the opportunity to meet Ms Garson on several occasions. An elegant, fine lady indeed.

I never met Greer but she and my mother were good friends because of family ties.

The NFL will never again be graced with a man like Tom Landry. One of a kind.

Greer Garson, Lucille Ball, Maureen O'Hara...fabulous looking redheads!
And the stunning Susan Hayward! I sure miss the class, talent and beauty of "old Hollywood"
Holy cow!!!! How did I miss her????!!!!! I adore her. Cried like a baby when she passed away! She was from my hometown, Brooklyn. How in goodness name did I forget Edythe!!!!?????.

Great video, I believe I read somewhere that Coach Landry was a B-17 pilot during WWII. Again thanks for posting.

Like so many of your subjects, this was news to me. Thanks for the history.
Thank you for posting. I'm reading a bio if Greer Garson right now. I have been to Dallas a few times but did not know Garson was buried there. I will hope to visit the cemetery when I come next time.

very nice video... thanks
Thank you, that makes two of us.
Favorite movie Random Harvest Greer is stunningly beautiful
One of the first films I saw after becoming a Christian in 1971 was Tom Landrys testimony. Great man of God whose legacy lives on
One day I was talking to Viking fan on the phone and he asked me if my business was in Mission Texas home of Tom Landry. Yes sir I’m about 4 lots away where Tom live in Mission, wow that is amazing. He was a great coach.
MR and Mrs Landry. Two more real true Catholics!
One of Greer Garson’s most memorable movies is “Blossoms In The Dust”; where she played the part of Edna Gladney, of Fort Worth Texas.

Rest in peace beautiful people.
Jerry. I'd like to see you do a video on the great Kathryn Grayson. Thanks

Are you confusing Mrs. Landry with actress Greer Garson?
General John Archer Lejeune / luh jern (CMC XIII )
would be proud of this fine gentleman coach AND
PT 29 loved and knew Greer Garson.
Right away, I thought of Best Actress for "Mrs. Minniver" :)
Is this the same Tom Landry the coach from the TV show King of the hill
I recognized your voice from watching a video of yours on the little rascals about a year ago, very distinguishable.
I noticed the time of 9:30 PM, I was unaware daylight lasted that long in Texas in January...
For some reason it's a funny feeling knowing that Tom Landry has passed. It doesn't seem right. And I'm not even a Cowboy's fan.
I didn’t watch this from the beginning which stated Landry and Garson are in the same cemetery in Dallas, Texas
I always had great respect for coach Landry. He was a class act . After Jerry Jones hoodooed him the way he did I've never pulled for the Cowboys since. Jerry Jones is pure T trash in my opinion. If they never win another game that'll be perfectly fine with me.

4:58. "E.E. Ferguson." Like the kids write, LOL!
They should've named the trophy Tim Landry trophy rather than the Vince Lombardi.
If he beat Lombardi in those two Championship games..66 and 67 they may have
Let's not get carried away. Lombardi is the appropriate name for that trophy.
That's not a Fedora.
5 super bowls wow 2
Where in the states did Greer and her husband live? They were buried on their property.
They lived in Dallas and Santa Fe
i thought that a scandal or something nefarious was going to be a topic. it was more like visit to cemetary with short bio. were they married?
No, Landry was not married to Garson.
Lisa Landry Childress looks like her mother.
Couldn't their families afford something nicer😂
He was a sport coach, that's it!?
He was also an NFL player and WWII bomber pilot. Do your research dude.
Landry also gave a lot of his off-season time to witnessing for Christ. This included the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or FCA.
Bbtimetravell
was her husband an actor his face looks familure
what the hell is this? outta here now.
