Many people, including Koreans, are unaware that they have studied electric vehicles in modern cars since the 1990s.
Hyundai's first electric vehicle was not commercialized, but it was the ATOZ EV at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show, and 24 nickel-hydrogen battery were used as the power train, with a driving distance of 198 kilometers per charge. The maximum speed of the vehicle was 130 kilometers per hour, and it consumed seven hours per charge.
Then, in 2001, the Santa Fe EV was able to travel 160km on a single charge, with a maximum speed of 128km/h and a zero-back of 19 seconds, and there were overseas specifications in addition to Korean domestic specifications, but it was canceled for some reason.
It's unique that I've been studying it for 34 years to this day.
However, the reason why it was later commercialized than Tesla is that Hyundai Motor Company has been steadily developing internal combustion engines with the remaining funds, so it did not risk its life to focus on electric vehicles like Tesla, but technological evolution was delayed.
However, it would be no exaggeration to say that today's electric vehicle technology is on the same line as Tesla.

@drivingenthusiastaustralia If hyndai want to sell this as a 4x4, then it *NEEDS* to be suitable for those who like to go in the outback! The electric isuzu and Toyota's own electric hilux (wonder if their iconic land cruiser will get an ev makeover?) and yes the infamous cyber truck, is giving us a good idea of what the deni ute muster would look like with an all electric line up. Like you should of taken it off road during your time with the car. But I think those blue and red buttons on the steering wheel specific to the "n" mode, could have something to off roading or something like that and something with that grille so a bull bar can be fitted and other off roading accessories. Like hyndai don't seem to release that you can't really have a 4x4 and a track car in one tbh. Not everything needs to be N or Nline (especially looking @ you, kona)

Numbers on paper sell, when revheads see how much kW and Nm and how fast a cars 0-100 time is, it sells, it’s also an egotistical thing, it’s like when you’re chatting with your mates about cars and who has what and how much HP my car has over yours, that’s why 0-100 tests and drag races are extremely popular on youtube, hence carwow going global and many other channels following in its cult. I’m not saying to go out on public roads and hoon and street race, there’s a time and place for all things, and tracks exist for this sort of fun but performance cars are all about power figures as their major selling point, if this was a Mazda2 or something in comparison obviously that wouldn’t be the main point of concern.

I think that engine audio feedback actually assists with driver control of the vehicle, as it gives you non visual queues as to the power and speed being applied to the vehicle. Thus, I actually think that feature has a very practical benefit. I suggest it improves driver situational awareness of the performance state of the vehicle. It essentially functions as a driver feedback reinforcement mechanism, which I think could help improve driver confidence and control. Basically providing a better feel and driving experience for the vehicle.

    • @ShufflerBluey
      @ShufflerBluey Před 4 měsíci +4

@@pukecat9590 hmmm good question. I have only been driving it in AWD, and only once tested RWD. I've noticed while driving it sends most of the power to the rear wheels for most driving, and then towards the front too when you put your foot down.
I will say that if you drive in normal or eco and are "sensible" it seems very economical. I've never gotten it below 50% in a single day, and i only charge it to 80% at night as per what i've been reading on the forums to extend battery health.
Also, i will say one of the weird fun things i've found. is the regen braking. You use the shift paddles to "down shift" in a sense, and use the regen brakes to bring you to a full stop. Kinda like slowing down in a manual without using brake pads. Doing this well can add a few kms back to the battery each day too.

    Hyundai 4cyl, um. No….
Really the whole concept of jerking the car to simulate a combustion engine/transmission is contrived and a bit silly.
I get that if you typically drive a non-EV, its familiar, but then maybe buy a combustion engine car, the real thing is better.
I fairly recently was driving an EV for a few months, then went back to a modded n55 bmw. It seemed stupidly noisy and seemed jerky. I did re-acclimate after a bit. But its purely related to what you typically drive.

I've said the same comment on another channel reviewing this car. About $111,000 for a Hyundai EV hatchback with a dull, cheap black plastic interior. I can't see many people going for this. For just a little bit more money, you can get a BMW M340i. A far nicer, more practical, spacious and much more premium and luxurious car. And only a lousy 1 sec slower to 100 km/hr.

Do you know about BMW brand identity?
BMW is not a cosmetics car brand.
BMW is a sports sedan and SUV brand. And, BMW also used a cheap black plastic.
      What a shame your opinion.

Having owned a M340i, I can honestly say it’s one of the most unreliable, money pit crap sports car I’ve ever driven. Current M is no longer the fun M of the past.

@@rhino69420The current M cars are luxury cars pretending to be true sports cars. I miss the old M cars of 90’s and 2000’s.

Stupidest idea I’ve ever seen. EVs are EVs and they can never simulate ICEs.
