Scottie Pippen - Offensive Highlights, 1997 Playoffs

  • Compilation spotlighting Pippen's offense. Dunks, post moves, midrange, pullup/catch and shoot THREES, hot streaks, playmaking, clutch moments, etc. He did it ALL on that end. Its debatable but when adding everything together one could say this was Pippen at his best, offensively.
The last clip you ask? What's a highlight reel without a championship-winning steal? Defense was Pippen's A1, but as seen here, there was no denying his offensive grace.

Pippen... Post-ups, three-pointers, passing, shooting the passing lanes for steals, rebounding, and my personal favorite - blocking a perimeter shooter, grab the ball, give and go for a smooth, gliding and powerful Statue of Liberty slam dunk. Absolutely beautiful and efficient basketball.

Best perimeter defender of all time. Had he not played with Jordan, he still would have been a top defender. But going against Jordan in practice every single day, simply elevated his defense to ridiculousness. Also, he honed his offensive game through MJ. If you really pay attention, you'll notice that his footwork, fakes, up&unders, all are very, very similar to Mike's. They seem so effortlessly done. Growing up in Chicago, I watched almost every game those two played together, and I still stick with Pip33 as my all-time favorite player.

No one gives him credit for offence but he was constantly putting up good numbers on not a lot of shot attempts per game. He was a complete player and not some ball hog as other offensive minded players out there. If you can drop 20-22 per night in the NBA with ease as Pip did constantly, then you are among the best. He was a good scorer, but never close to a great one. He was limited compared to other all time greats. He wasn't close to the score of MJ, or Lebron, or Bird, or Durant, or Kobe, or Malone, or Barkely, or Drexler, or for that matter guys like Dominick, Bernard King, Dwane Wade, etc. not to mention all of the great centers like Wilt, Kareem, Hakeem, Shaq, D-Rob, and on and on. He was a good, solid, decent scorer, in the same way that someone like Paul George is a solid scorer. I watched the man play and I've watched a million highlights and games of his. He was limited as a scorer. He never scored 50 points in a game 1 time in his career and never averaged more than 22 points in a season. His best asset on offense was as a playmaker and facilitator.

Karl Malone:" If i had to start my team with one player it would be Scottie Pippen"..not micheal. From a breaded basketball player's perspective in myself. Its wrong that people only talk about how great of a defender he was. All Scottie Pippen did offensively as super star..was adapt to the roster. Micheal took a lot of shots, and in a league that played far more system basketball back then. Scottie sacrificed his shot attempts for the better of the team/to keep others in rhythm. This wasn't about Pippen not being a natural born killer offensively. It's usually the more well rounded gaurd that has to take the so called back seat, because he can do other things. Steve kerr: Scottie could score only 4 points..and still dominate the game. I'd take pippen over jordan myself, ask me why..instead of just calling me crazy. I speak of things most ppl don't talk about. Micheal was more of a 1on1 entertainer..pippen was a basketball player. Numbers don't always tell the truth.

But Scottie cud do the same..but what Scottie had (in the post) that Jordan didn't have was a full blown power forward post game repertoire. Scottie could defend and post up Tim Duncan at and elite level. Did u know that Scottie was the quarterback of the triangle offense. The main reason phill placed him at the point was because he was the best ball handler on that team. But he also had the point gaurd iq. If Scottie retires to play baseball instead of Jordan..Jordan doesn't get the bulls as far as Scottie got them because in basketball terminology micheal is a 1on1 player..micheal will force 30+ points where as Scottie just reacts to his roster, the opposition, and the game situation, and what ever #s come out of that..thats what they'll be. You believe what you believe..due to the doing a hell of a job at marketing their main product. It's a business..The league chooses a face of the sport based on what they think would be most entertaining to most people.

people don't even realize pippen shot more threes than many guys then including michael, in today's game he would benefit so much from the 3 and d scheme of modern small forwards, he would easily hit 25 ppg and be a perennial mvp candidate now. look how far he was @ 2:50 . the defender still felt he needed to block that shot because pip could make those, that's considered normal today and he would have perfected that shot like anybody.
