Graham and Alana’s homesense segment needs to be a segment on every makeover 🥹
THIS! Or just any outings with the two of them.
Came here to say this! It's the duo we didn't know we needed!
Yes, please! That was so fun!!! 😂
Yes! I came here to say that. Graham in Homesense was an episode all on its own. He’s so good natured.
Felt like the two kids going out 😅
I love that Graham is walking around Home Sense finding gifts for people lol
And that he mentioned James. I miss James!! I was worried that maybe he wasn't involved anymore.
@@TamarLitvotfrom a former vid, James now lives in Montreal & works remotely. AG & her team live in Toronto, so James can't be physically present in the vids (but he still works for AG).
Well this was just before Christmas.
@@kitty_s23456 I'm aware of that and loved their redo of his Montreal apartment (one of my absolute favorites!). I just meant I hadn't heard his name mentioned in a long time so was a little worried he wasn't still involved with the team.
I noticed it too and thought it was so sweet. My son is around his age and does the same thing every time we go shopping 😁❤️
Now I know the real reason why Graham gifted me the guitar picture!!!! It was on sale!!!! 😀 Love it nevertheless!
A gift is a gift right? 😂❤
It's the thought that (dis)counts😂❤
Are you Graham's dad?
😂😂😂😂😂
I actually live in a cozy cottage in the woods... and I'm a Grandma 🙂 I had no idea that my style is now considered "Chic" !! I decorate exclusively with items I've been thrifting for almost thirty years, and yes, I like to collect locally made goat milk and herbal soaps 😀
... and the two lamps in my bedroom are also not matching, and I love it!!
Luck you!
Can we be friends
I’m a coastal grandmother, and I approve this message. 👍
I'm not a coastal grandmother but I think I'm converted. 💚
Me too 😂...one of my top favorites to date❤
Top comment!! 😂😂😂
All of it is stunning, but her dad's paintings hanging there really felt like the absolute perfect touch to me. I love having art from people I know on my walls, whether they're artists or not.
I love this as well. My childhood home had lots of art from family and friends.
Yes! Art should be personal and meaningful, not just match in style and color.
That's my one gripe with all the DIY/Home Decor people I follow (Alexandra is one of my two favorites). They put art on the walls of other people's homes that is not meaningful to the person. I understand why they do it (they need to do a complete job), but I wish they would talk to their client and ask them to collect art themselves that can be used in the space.
@@TamarLitvotI agree.
I have started to imagine that all these recipients of the makeovers start to switch out the generic art for their own style one piece at a time as soon as they find something that speaks to them in their price range.
On the other hand, I would _never_ allow someone to come into my house and start removing and changing what I've done and what speaks to me, because it's my style and I gather what I like together, and I think it has cohesion and makes me happy and works great together because of all that. It's nobody's style but my own. And I am independent and don't need anyone else telling me that it works together and oohing and ahhing over it to make me feel good about it. I trust my judgement.
And I'm guessing a lot of people that watch shows like these feel the same way.
But then there are those who like a certain "feel" in their houses but have no sense of how to create it and pull the whole thing together. Those are primarily the people that I imagine are signing up for these makeovers, and maybe they don't care one iota whether the art is meaningful to them or not.
Maybe there is more to it all that we don’t see. You sound like you don’t need help. You have decorated your w a lovely style.
I guess it’s all entertainment in the end.
One show, who does a lovely decor job w/o what seems like very little input, is a lessen on home decor. The home owners are delighted!!
It has also been reported that they turn around & sell the house for a big profit.
I just learn & enjoy. I thank you for you input. It made me think a bit.
Ty Team AG! Another wonderful event!
Her dad is very talented- share his name so people can find him
ily Alexandra, but if I had told you how important the storage in my 3-drawer bedside table is and you replaced it with essentially an empty box, I would be so unhappy lol
I'm surprised you didn't
paint her old nightstand instead of giving her two that seem to not have drawers.
She said how important it was for storing all of her belongings that she wanted to keep next to her bed.
Yeah I thought the same thing.
Yeah, even if the new ones have some storage, with the round shape you can't store documents as well. Reminds me of the makeower where the owner wanted plenty of space for their books and she got two little nightstand shelves 😅 I think sometimes Alexandra gets carried away with the vision (as beautiful as that vision is) and doesn't focus that much on what the owner said they want.
Agreed.
@@DRT813 100%! I've seen it happen a bunch of times.
I am unusually entertained by Graham and Alana's HomeSense segment 😂
One of my favorite things about your channel is that you cater to everyone’s style…not just what is on “trend”. I love that. Everyone likes different things and I love seeing the variety of decor styles every week. It’s so refreshing! 😍
This style is pretty on trend right now tbh
True yet most of their videos are on trend. I think it's a big factor in how they do callouts for makeovers.
True, that’s what I meant by “not JUST what is on trend”. Like they do so much more than just trendy things you see on TikTok or something. It’s a variety of different styles and not just one. Sorry if I was unclear with my wording. Lol
Yes!!! I love this. I’ve also discovered some things outside of my style comfort zone that I actually love because of Alexandra being so inclusive.
@@Danicalip8I get what you’re saying. I think the major factor is that Alexandra deviates vastly from HER personal style and she can still knock it out of the park. Not every designer is willing to do that or even capable of doing that.
#DaveAppreciationPost Dave is such a wonderful addition to the team. I love his humor, his skills, and his chemistry with the rest of the team. Truly underrated by us, the veiwers. Go get it Dave! YOU'RE AWESOME! ❤❤❤
I love that every time that Alexandra jokes that he's doing such a good job painting 'it's almost like he's a professional painter', James feels like he has to put a disclaimer on the screen that Dave Is Actually A Professional Painter :')
LOVE IT!!! Not sold on the bedside tables; drawers seem like a better storage solution where everything can be separated instead of things being stacked on top of one another like they would be in that cupboard style space. BUT I agree, its absolutely some of your best work so far! So excited to see everything you have in store for 2024!
Agree on the end tables. Waste of space.
Agree! It doesn’t fit her need for storage as cute as they are
I agree, and the fact the bedside tables are round isn't very helpful for paperwork.
The round shape works so well, especially in a smaller space. It makes it look so much more stylish and classy than boxy drawers. Sometimes it's a bit of give and take. 😊😊
Graham raccoon rummaging through homesense was a vibe 🦝
I’m a grandma, and I remember all of this from the 1980s.
Me too!!! Everything older is new again!
That’s what I was thinking the while time! It amazes me how we all appreciate different styles!
I would have preferred a dusky deep rose wardrobe frame paint. You’re so talented with space, warmth and character
I love seeing you talk to each other and goof around. Your group is so wholesome and the shopping trip extra feature was adorable. Such a charming group. I also love the makeover of course
The fact that so many of Alexandra's folks have been with her for so long tells you that it must be a good place to work.
It's a very pretty room -- love the wallpaper and the bed and especially the chest of drawers -- perfection! The overhead light is gorgeous. Once you changed the shade on the taller lamp, those two different lamps are a good touch. My only gripe is the bedside tables. They're very nice but a vintage set would have worked better and also, they don't provide the kind of organized space that Niamh made clear is important to her. But that's so much less important than how lovely the room is in general.
I agree. When I saw the tables I was like that’s not what she asked for. Am old wood vintage filing cabinet would’ve been better with drawers and somewhere for papers
I guess she can put her stuff in a basket in the drawer, so "in case of fire" she doesnt need to carry the whole drawer outside.
My thoughts exactly. The bedside tables are very nice but more like an awkward corner cabinet in terms of storage. Very different than what she described was working for her.
Agreed! A single circular cupboard does not do the work of three square draws.
It looks like Graham wisely left the Barbie artwork at the store but it was sweet of him to think of getting something for James. I love that Team AG is such a little family. This is a beautiful bedroom and your thrifted finds - artwork, free-standing mirror and the green dresser fit this decor style perfectly. I’m not sure that using all new pieces would work for granny chic. I literally laughed out loud when Graham suggested getting “lots of soaps” for a granny-inspired room! He’s actually not wrong! My Nan’s bedroom always carried the scent of Jergen’s hand cream and lavender. I love that you included “Little Women” on the marble ledge. 🥰
Looooooved the end result of this makeover! Everything just goes so well together. Y’all absolutely nailed the “beachy babushka bungalow” look in the room. Congrats on the new space, Niamh!
Beachy babushka bungalow is the the best description.😂😂😂
Love Graham's suggestion of soaps for the grandma vibe. Brought back childhood memories of the decorative soaps that were just for "pretty".
Alexandra you are so versatile. I see so many people stick to one design style, but you excel at each and every style you tackle. You are amazing! You deserve your own tv show
Love this room. I am a recent widow and decided to go super girly in my bedroom for the new year. Hard to move forward but redoing my bedroom is giving me some joy! So this video came out at the right time for me. Love the overalls where did you get them?
I’m so sorry for your loss and hope time brings healing. My dad lived with us after my mom died. After his death, his empty room just added to our sense of loss. We repurposed it into a craft room and so every time I work in there I think about learning to do projects from my mom and learning how to laugh at life from my dad. I hope your renovation project also brings you comfort.
I'm so sorry for your loss!♡
Wonderful to hear that you keep yourself busy and find happy moments in decorating ♡
Sending you a big hug, little lady. Proud of you for taking steps to move forward in your life in the midst of your grieving. Keep looking for joy in small moments. It’s still there and will find you.
I understand the feeling, as I lost my husband of 60 years in December. God bless. 💖
@@Beruthiel45 ❤❤
i am obsessed with everything you do, my God! So beautiful! Some designers are only able to decorate in one style, but you are able to make everything work, in any style you are working with. This is amazing!
I had to laugh when Graham said y'all needed lots of soaps! As a Grandma, I can concur. I actually have 2 large dresser drawers of soaps.....all beautifully scented! LOVE MY SOAP!!! 💖💖💖
This makeover is magical and I’m obsessed with how it turned out, but I would love to see y’all thrift more. Of all the rooms you’ve done, this one would have been PERFECT for thrifted things and I think the second hand piece would have added to the cozy nature, pieces that have history and stories. Home Sense has great pieces and I understand the need for it, when you’re looking for specific things, but the knick knacks and styling pieces especially I would love to see more thrifting. The adventure of the hunt and the treasures you can find, plus giving things a new life. Like, the thrifted mirror at the end was one of my favorite pieces of the whole room.
Graham finding pieces to gift everyone in HomeSense is so me 😂
P.S. Love how Niamh can now grab ✨AeSTheTiC✨bedside tables in an emergency
Edit: It's only been 42 minutes guys. 10 likes is more than I've ever had 🥳
My girlfriend is a designer and loves William Morris so much that she got WM florals as full sleeves (tattoos). Gorgeous on her arms, gorgeous on those walls! 🩷
Pelmets traditionally seal the gaps around the top of the curtain rail, saving on heating and cooling. I am always surprised by the flimsy curtains and rails in the cool climate you live in. Here in my semi tropics we have dispensed with pelmets by running a track on the ceiling and the fittings on the curtains face upwards with a disguising pleating. We have two tracks per window one curtain is a fine linen for light but heat protection and the next is more heavily lined to block the light and keep the cool inside. Glad to see a pelmet. Love a great fan !!
I love learning the history behind mundane objects like this! It's like how Victorian "egg" chairs helped keep a little of a person's heat around them.
Wonderful makeover, also love the fact that she got some of her dads work up on the walls. Makes it super special for her.
Adding that marble to the radiator was a stroke of genius. Love this style so much!
Graham in paint-covered clothes visiting HomeSense for the first time is a vibe
This looks great. I have a suggestion- since you already have the traditional palmet (?) adding a knob/glass/iron tie back for the curtains would be nice too
So much right with this room, just a few adjustments that could have improved it ...
1. The difference in the closet door and its trim from the rest of the room is distracting and somewhat jarring, not cozy or calming. The door should have been painted to match the walls and the trim muted to match the pink in the wallpaper or the throw on the bed.
2. The wicker pieces sticking out of the lampshade should be trimmed.
3. Something subtle should be placed over the closet door to add interest and bring the eye up.
The French Provincial mirror is absolutely gorgeous! My bedroom has my mother's 1960s French Provincial bed suite and I would definitely visit and take the mirror home with me. A little tip: the closet door pulls are upside down. The pull should be hanging down. This makeover isanother great. Happy 2024
Nowadays it's trending to hang pulls anyway u want...I personally like it the way she did it.
I thought the same thing about the pulls!
Anne of Green Gables would loooove this room
Our pelmets have that same swooped detailing but are wood. They work as room darkeners. When you have darkening curtains without pelmets, the light from outside still shines up on the ceiling. I didn't know they had a name though, so cool!
😊Sounds sweet. FYI that shape is called "scalloped." Some small cabin/cottage style houses in LA built in 1950s had wood scalloped accents in the kitchen🤍. Thought it was charming, but later homeowners were quick to tear them out😂. Liked the pelmet in the woven basket material here.
💚Bridget from Cali☘️

This is the exact opposite of my style, but I absolutely love it for her. You totally nailed it. Great job!
I love that Graham just started finding items to gift for everyone.
Such a sweet soul 😂🥹
So EXTREMELY homey, cozy, warm and BEAUTIFUL!!!❤
I’ve been watching you from the beginning. My favourite thing is that you haven’t changed. You’ve not let anything go to your head with all your success. Cheers and have an awsome day xx PS does Graham have a single brother who lives on Vancouver Island 😳 just asking 😂
Love the blue, adore the wallpaper, the pelmet is outstanding. Not sure how I feel about the pink trim. The room is very pretty.🩵
Alexandra! Love how you can take a style different from your own and adopt it to what your client wanted 💗💗💗
Nailed that wallpaper wall. It makes the whole room sing.
Love William Morris patterns. So beautiful
LOVE! Just a small wish .. that you painted the closet doors to match the wall color... 😊
I adore William Morris patterns. Looks beautiful!
I love William Morris! That wallpaper really makes the whole room. My other favorite parts are the mirror and that large painting of the woman over the middle of the bed. Very cute!
Such a beautiful result and a fun episode. What is actually better than good laughs while watching beauty unfolding? Just nothing.
That wallpaper is gorgeous. Wish I could do my walls, but the government won't let me. It was fun to see Graham's first visit to Home Sense. You guys are fun to watch, makes an older lady feel so young and vibrant. Love your book.
The government wont let you?
@@annie-pierlagueux7479government offers senior citizens and low income families apartments at a VERY reduced price, but cannot change/paint, hang pictures or change flooring, other than a throw rug. Very sterile. Suppose to help on cost when people move out.
Even the peel and stick? You have to test a little spot for damage first.
Alexandra used painter's tape all over the wall, then used peel 'n stick wallpaper. There are ways. Google to get ideas - good luck!
While the OP doesn’t specify the exact situation they are in that prevents wallpaper, a trick I’ve used in situations where I cannot paint or wallpaper is to use foam core. Foam core can be attached to the wall with Command Strips. You can paint, wallpaper, and glue fabric to the foam core. It’s great for dorm rooms which often come with rules preventing any alteration of the walls.
LOL! The whole time I thought you were saying "helmet" until you put the word "pelmet" up on the screen. I had to look that up because I never heard that before. I kept saying it's a valance. When I looked up "pelmet" I found that it is the British word for "valance." Thanks for expanding my vocabulary! 🙂😊😉
I was thinking "valance", too. Years ago, people used to make them from 1/4" plywood cut with decorative bottom edges. Something a Grandma would remember :)
A valance is the fabric version, but it won't have upper material to keep in heat and keep out light.
So this is how it feels to see someone living your dream 🥲
Oh my! What a relief to hear someone say they need lots of stuff on the walls!
love the strawberry thief from William Morris it inspired a piece I did in art class for high school ❤🍓🪶 Love from South Africa 🇿🇦
I love the expression on the room owner’s face every reveal. It makes me happy by just watching them being so happy!
My god it's sooo refereshing seeing a decoration with this theme and vibe...i persinally am sick of seeing the same white 'aesthetic' bedroom with the same vine/leaves hanging some where and calling it a day
This was sooo amazing!❤❤❤
Love the bedside lamps, especially the scalloped wicker shades. “Chef’s kiss!” Symmetry is where my “eye goes,” so I’d put the twin on the left side table and the tall green one on the dresser. But love how you brought some fun and whimsy into this space. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I absolutely love her makeover. You did an amazing job AG Team. Ok - Home Sense shopping with Graham and Alana was the best. I love seeing friends faces when you take them to a home decor place like this. Graham did not disappoint. Love this makeover... like really love
Yay, Niamh! 🙌 I’m up earlier than I intended to be but that means I get to dive into this makeover sooner than later. Hecking hyped to see this bedroom transformation for Niamh’s bedroom. Happy AG Saturday, folks!
Enjoy the vid, Michael!!!!
❤@@AlexandraGater
I literally gasped when I saw your style board for this makeover. And the final reveal is perfect! I love this!! You killed it!
Another great makeover. Cozy and eclectic. Love that there are paintings from Niamh's Dad. They are great. Graham's and Alana's shopping gave me smiles.
Your design senses really kicked in with the window treatment, marble shelf, lamps and shades. Very French without compromising function. She looked so happy with the results! A million years ago, with 0 budget I made pelmuts out of cardboard and Waverly wallpaper scraps for my windows. Cheap and lightweight and covered the mess of previous tenants nails and screws.
I liked this makeover very much. The wallpaper and artwork go so well with the bed frame and tables. The only thing that I thought needed some change were the closet doors. Maybe a different color.
love the cosy mismatched vibe- turned out so well
BEST MAKEOVER EVER. Reminds me of my childhood bedroom, but more eclectic. Please come do this to my house.
I honestly did not expect all those colours and patterns to complement each other so well ❤ so gorgeous as usual Alexandra !
Love how all the different elements worked together in this room - I'm a sucker for eclectic styles.
I adore the whole space but that light is amazing. 🤟🏻💜
I love the way you knotted the drapes - so cute! The pelmet is adorable as well.
I got to say I am extremely disappointed with the side tables. She's losing so much storage space and gaining one big space which is more difficult to organize and less usable for what she uses it for. Other than that, I love this makeover. Both of her styles are my styles.
I love how sweet and minimal her requests are ❤
Nice to see someone who likes thrifted furniture ❤❤❤
I have literally never loved a makeover on AG more! I know this leans my style of maximalist, cozy, nature, antique so I’m a little biased but please more of this!!!
Also, Carla demonstrates her genius again with closing shots. You too, James 🎉
Shopping with Graham! 😂
I love this space ❤ It is so fun and cozy.
I feel like the only thing that would make this one better would be wall molding! to truly bring in that older nice grandma feel
❤️ What an exquisite makeover. THIS is my style! What a beautiful feminine classic makeover!!!
Looks great! Another team AG success. Graham's first trip to Homesense 🤣 loved it! I know you thrifted but I'm wondering why you didn't paint and reuse her original dresser?
Great video! More studio fix videos, please!!
Coming soon!
Love William Morris--and the wallpaper was so clearly inspired by Morris!
this turned out so beautiful!! but I feel like there were a lot more opportunities to use thrifted objects, especially for the grandma coastal chic aesthetic.
I absolutely love love love this makeover Alexandra. I so agree with this is your best work.
I love this style and the art deco doorknob is to die for. I love all the elements and textures and patterns. My dream is these elements in darker, rich tones for my dream cottage/cabinpunk style
This is not my style, but it is beautiful! You really listened to your client and gave her a dream come true!
This was so fun! Here for the cozy vibes and all for the quiet and the turbulence
Omg, everything about this is so cosy and whimsical 😻🤌🏾❤
Oh, I'm so envious of Niamh! I love the vibes and now I need to do my bedroom! I've got oil paintings that my paternal G'ma painted sitting on my floor because I thought I needed to hang everything a "certain" way. I've got some ideas for a gallery wall now in my livingroom and bedroom.
The wicker helmet (?) Over the window is new to me. Very good! But then I am a real fan if woven materials. The colors are so comfy & pretty. Anotger winner!
Graham is such a gem. ❤
This is my FAVORITE bedroom makeover to date. Love love love it!!!!!!!
I would never want to leave this bedroom. It is just perfect in every way!
Huge Williams Morris fan. Really love the more modern color ways in addition to the more traditional ones.
this was definitely one of the 'trust the process' makeovers for me. i think the strong white video lights were throwing me off the entire time, which made the reveal so much better. lighting is truly the key
I love everything about the makeover except that the side tables are very obviously not sufficient for her needs. They barely fit the lamps and have one small hard to reach through storage space rather than actual drawers. This style of side table is more suited to a living room or guest bedroom, not for storing all of your most important things as she said she needed.
Alexandra you guys are the DREAM TEAM of DECOR & STYLE! Everything you did in this room is gorgeous.
Great. Love your makeovers for every one you've completed. You have a great staff/crew. Y'all work so well together. Looking forward to seeing this makeover
Something about this makeover is so satisfying, like getting a soothing sweet tea time! While the picture wall was appropriate I personally wound have picked lighter colors except for the tree painting, which I loved! The wallpaper was Devine!
Graham in Homesense is like a kid in a candy store....too cute!
That wall paper is everything! Love William Morris prints!
You won't believe it, 12:51 I miss Taylor's NICE sound bite. But it's only because I'm used to it 😅
i feel like you guys have mastered the wallpapering technique by this point! it's so satisfying to watch!
