This is my camera comparison test of the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE vs Google Pixel 3a. They are both "budget friendly" phones with fantastic cameras! In this video I compare daytime photos, ultra wide angle, telephoto and pixel peeping, HDR, low light "Night Sight" mode, front facing camera with portrait shots, lots of video samples in 4K 30 fps, slow-motion, 960fps(!), audio test, stabilization... and more!

1. Just my opinion, but I hate when someone spends 13 minutes comparing camera performance & at the end asks "what do you think?" Be a man & give YOUR opinion! 2. You zip thru the side by side comparison photos so fast that the viewer has no chance to truly compare, beyond an initial impression.
He gave his opinions with every example shot and video, both cameras are better and worse in some scenarios, i don't understand why you're complaining.
This was an excellent comparison video, exceptionally good.
The MI 9 SE camera is like a GoPro, n the Pixel 3a camera is like "today I'll show u my lifestyle"
I would pay the (small) difference to get the Pixel 3a, even without the ultra wide angle and 960fps, because from your review, I liked more the overall quality of the 3a.

Both phones taking excellent shots with neglible differences in most scenarios, Pixel prob wins the selfie and video while the wide angle looks awesome on the mi 9 se. Both seemed excellent for low-lights... Phonewise Id go for the Mi 9 SE cause its Dual Sim, bigger screen on smaller form factor and now just $260 new !!

I feel shorter to your low light Photo. You made indoor lowlight shotguns but for me i really wan to see the low light shot for outside.. but this review was so good thanks.
If I am only concern for camera (for GCam), I go with 3a but more practicality and feature-rich phone which I won't be confined, so I go to Mi9SE.

@roky123 finger print in 9SE is 7th gen, so its way better no need to go backwards...
edit: if your concern about updates, unless you have used a Mi device before, Xiaomi never miss to update its flagships and its brothers.
In screen fingerprint reader is not a pro. It's done pretty poorly and ends up being a worse exp than a traditional sensor. I don't know why people keep saying it's better just because it's newer when it works worse.
Typical for 2019: very close. 50:50. Sometimes one better than the other; sometime vice versa.

2:01 the texture on the leather bag is a blob of blur on the Xiaomi, super sharp on the Pixel 3A
I really like how you give comments on each camparison with no bias.. but i do agree with some commentors here.. buy the Mi 9 SE, and install the gCam.. solves the case n bye2 Pixel 3a! heheh
3a looks better and is far more consistent. I never use the ultrawide because of the huge degrade in quality.
using such features are upen personal preference. wide angle would never give sharp images. as the name suggests "WIDE" that's what it meant to be. Pixel 3A is a big NO NO in India. as we can get phones with snapdragon 855 with 48mp camera in half the price of Pixel 3A
Install gcam in any phone cheaper than pixel then you'll those pics same as pixel. Easy
@@keebooo nope. The sensor and lense composition are different in all phones so even if you install the app. The quality won't come close to a pixel. Trust me I've tried on cheaper and more expensive phones.
@@porogami7yearsagoedited754 the mi9se has a better sensor. Maybe what you did was try the gcam to an entry level phone which the mi9se is way above that
Need help! Kinda related - Pixel 3aXL or Xiaomi Mi9 for about the same price? Obviously, stock android, updates, better camera AI, and all LTE bands are a huge advantage and I know specs aren't "important", but a bigger screen, faster CPU, more onboard storage, and definitely lens options is kinda hard to ignore.
@Christian Harm Sure, that's clear from a hardware standpoint, but what about battery life, updates, UI, and connectivity in the US?
@@Phrancis5 the Mi 9 does great in the United States as long as your on at&t or T-Mobile. I have it and have both companies on it.
It will get updates for 3 years not 2 as reported. It with get software updates for 2 and security for 3 but I've seen longer considering the Mi 6 is still getting Q.
The Mi 9 is constantly getting software updates to better it. It also will be one of the first besides Pixel of course to get Q as the Mi 9 will be getting Q before Christmas!
The phone I can honestly say is way better then my brother in law's Pixel 3 XL, my sister's iPhone XS Max, and my Galaxy S4-S9+, Note 9, LG G2-G4, V20, V30, iPhone 6plus, 8plus. It's my first Xiaomi and probably my last Flagship from all the other Flagships I've owned. I love it. Truly awesome. Well built. Super fast and the best pictures I've ever taken without my DSLR.
It has a moon mode that is really cool and it also has a Macro mode I use quite a bit.
You would love it I'm sure.
Google seriously needs to brighten their Shadows and reduce Contrast.
I use Google APK Ported to my Phone and the Stock Contrast and Shadows are crazy.
I use 3rd party Libraries to fix the issue and recover the Shadows and reduce contrast.
pixel 3a is the clear winner but I still go with mi9 se

Hey, I'm in the same situation.. any advice maybe?
Personally, I prefer the images from the pixel. The pictures on the Mi 9 are a bit too warm which causes the concrete to look a little too yellow. Also the Mi 9 has attendancy to wash out bright areas as shown in the sunlight brick wall picture. Although it's nice to have a white angle lens, I find wide angle lenses have a tendency to round off the edges of the photo making it look a little weird.
Looking at the ring of white around the rocket on the Mi 9 shot, I'd say that clarity comes from sharpening done in software, unless what I'm seeing is an artifact of the CZcams conversion process...
The Mi 9 is way quicker and handles resource intensive tasks much better and for longer without over heating due to the Snapdragon 855 chip set. The 855 is the biggest increase of performance of any Snapdragon chip they've made, roughly %29. To each their own of course, there are a lot of factors to consider when picking out a cellphone these days.
The cropped in video of the pixel is because of the eis.. Software crops it in to give space to fix the shakes..
I use a mi 9 se. It only uses eis for video recording while shooting 1080p 30fps videos. It has 1080p 60fps but it's just as shaky as the 4K video so only 1080p 30 fps has eis.

Without ois mi9se can beat pixel3xl in night sight of gcam. Cuz 1.6um and 4.75mm Sony imx586

I would prefer mi9 SE because of the ultra wide. But the master of the software is Google. They do magic! I can't imagine if Pixel 3a had 48mpx sensor ...

Yes. I was looking into this and the reason is because natural whites are more "yellowish" and OLEDs tend to have warmer tones which are more natural.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 is awesome. It will run for to toe with any current Flagship in any category, and out perform and Flagship in out right speed and gaming.
Camera is top notch and video it beats every current Flagship per Dxomark. But latest test I think the S10 5g is running right with it.
Unlike the SE the real Mi 9 has awesome 4k@30 stabilization. The best out of any Flagship which is proven again by Dxomark but also ever CZcams review as well as tech reviews show just how stable it is. Love it.
4:12 I see more noise on the sign on MI 9 SE's photo, but it is still a bit sharper than the Pixel 3a

I just dislike the Pixel camera's performance (in every Pixel phone). Too dark/dull...
I'd take the Mi 9 any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
How to install gcam on mi 9 se?
"clarity and detail" - well, the Chinese phones tend to be oversharpened (especially visible 1:1 on black-on-light, like text), whereas Pixel is more "conservative" (aka DIY). Look for black or white "glow" around contrast objects...

Pixel are the best in android. Any gcam is near, i have a mi9t and i accept that, sensor i also needed.

Mi 9 smokes it. Go to Dxomark! The Mi 9 will run with any current Flagship but loses on night shot and zoom to the P30 pro.
I find the Pixel pictures to be more clear and Sharper but still find the mi9 pictures pretty good too

Too bad the global version doesn't have bands 12 or 17, then it'd be perfect for US GSM MVNOs.
I'm very sorry to say but there is no comparison with the camera the dynamic range pixel does good and even it looks natural to my eyes but Mi 9 SE seems very artificial and even don't consists of details I'm most of the pictures you clicked with Mi 9SE, please do not miss lead.

Mi9 offers so many more features that the pixel doesn't have.
Pixel camera is a bit better due to better video stabilization.
However, I like the MI 9 SE phone better overall though because it is a slightly smaller, cheaper and its a prettier.

I have had or have the V20, V30 and Xiaomi Mi 9 as well as Galaxy S4-S9+, Note 9, iPhone 6plus, 8plus. The Mi 9 is my best phone I've owned. Love it. The SE is not on the same level but the V30 truly was not up to par. I still have a V20!!
too bad 3a become more expensive $200 in asia region, so mi 9 se more reasonable...
