Nah, Percy is generally not a psychopath. He does know right from wrong, and outside of Briarwoods-related business, is quite capable of empathy and compassion. This arc is pretty much Percy struggling with PTSD and demonic possession (the latter of which he wasn't aware of), so cut him some slack.

I don't understand how vengeance is wrong when you're dealing with someone who hangs innocent people from trees, and why is his sister seen as merciless for giving an evil person what she deserves?? It made no sense.
The saddest thing is that even after Percy renounces revenge, what he made from his anger and pain, not what he made from his love, will be his legacy. Yes, he and Vex have continued the de Rolo name, yes, he did build a clock tower, yes, he did open Whitestone up to the outside world and rebuilt it after everything the Briarwoods did, but even after he dunked The List in acid, firearms have already been invented, he can’t uninvent them. Every time someone on Exandria gets hurt or killed with a firearm, it can be traced back to a traumatized and orphaned noble boy making an unconscious pact with a shadow demon to make the murderers of his family and their conspirators understand the pain he went through.

The pepperbox is the obvious forerunner to the revolver, both logically and historically. A revolver requires more precise machining, to make sure the cylinder always lines up with the barrel, and more reliable ammunition, to make sure the round actually clears the barrel. That stuff doesn't just happen. Besides, he _did_ create a revolver later, based on what he learned from creating and using the pepperbox.
