  • Sometimes there's snowball games. Other times, there's snowball games where the opponents don't even have a chance to put up a fight. Let's see which we have today! Thanks for watching!

That was a lobby where very few players defended caps, so you could be pretty aggressive with everyone overcommitting, and the difference in skill really showed. Well played, sir.

I actually remember you losing a 99 in one of your videos, giving you second place.

3:18 what you should do when someone rolls your cap in the first turn? It happen to me once, when i capped in a 2 next to a 4, i was in the last position and the 5th player rolled my cap (i guess with an 9) and he got incredible dice, only loss 4. And i didnt know what to do.

Good question! The approach I take if it’s clear I cannot just go take it back right away is to try to analyze where everyone is going to be taking their bonuses, and start playing a one territory take a card and pass strat until you can strike to claim ANY capital. Continue placing all of your troops on one spot (using a second location can be helpful to prevent dying if you’re getting targeted, but can also make you easier to kill), and try to stay out of everyone’s way. Typically, to do that, you’ll need to avoid the honeypot bonuses like west Africa or the noob corner, I find that as long as no one is capped there, Eastern Europe, Central Europe, Russia, and Orient are your best bets, typical in that order and only if they are not two point holds or less.

Another thing you can do is calculate how many troops players are likely to get first turn if they don't get hit a lot when choosing your cap. In 5th position the maximum troops a player will get first turn is +8: +4 if they still hold 12 territories, +2 cap, +2 for being in 5th position. So their 4 could become a 12 which should be able to roll a 5 cap (87% win chance by the Risk blitz calculator). So you could have avoided taking this cap on that basis if you had a safer option.
