Thanks for this history lesson, sometimes we forget that our faith makes us so much stronger together.
We have to Remember as Christians, The Quran is obsessed of our religion. We are in there book every other page, Muslims dislike our religion and our Traditon. We need to be aware of people who dislike us.

We eastern european know very well the danger of Islam. We have fighted Islam for 500 years and faced death and prosecution under Otoman rule. And Skenderbeg (meaning alexander the great) was great leader. For 26 years he destroyed Otoman empire with 15000 soldiers against over 100000 Otoman soldiers. He is one of the people that stopped Otoman from expanding further in europe
This why I like to listen to the Byzantine Empire Music when they fought ottoman empire, They hymn and chant about it.

We should love Muslims are they are victims of Islam but we should not be foolish and should defend our faith

Very enlightening! The lesson is crucial. We must remember our history as a Christian people - for without it, there is no identity for the individual or his Christian nation to stand upon.

I can see both sides of this argument but I do lean more toward Bob. The fact is ethnonationalism does look after itself, and to hell with the suffering of their brothers and sisters in faith. However, for Christianity to have its much needed firm roots we do need to protect our National identity and cultural values. We're too far away from Bob's ideals at the moment and too far away from each other as Christian individuals to have any meaningful impact on society.
Christian values starting in schools and lessons combined with cultural and religious activism on street level will for me bring the swiftest rewards. Politics and religion working in tandem. Islam seems to have had a lot of success with that formula. A fabulous discussion as always Bob.

Great lesson once again. *Soco* and *Bob,* it would be good if you can add some *informational links* at the info box under the video (like CZcams documentaries ?) that explores the topic Bob is talking about so people can *further their knowledge.* Maybe you can ask Bob to send you recommended links or documentaries of the topic he is exploring on the episodes so your audience has an opportunity be more informed. I am sure people will click on them. So, next time the topic comes up again, your audience will be better informed, and can engage in the topic better as their knowledge slowly gets built up. *Knowledge is power.*
this was not a lesson and was very flawed. if you are actually looking into these matters please try and keep to academic work or look for academic consensus on matters and go from there. the askhistorians subreddit is a great place to start online. documentaries in general tend to either overhype or downplay events because they appeal to an tv/internet audience and not critical acclaim from actual historians. scholarly work on any historical matter is a lot more complicated and extensive and youre looking at many pages of peer reviewed information on even the most straightforward subjects. to go on even the best books on their subject tend to fade out of importance as scholarly work advances and new understandings make more sense. the least you can do is ask for sources on what people claim and check them. this video has no sources for any of their claims.. if you were to ask me most of what these guys know is from youtube

I like how Bob just skips over the fact of why we have a separation of church and state, did he forget the European wars of religion (Reformation wars) and the Age of Enlightenment? He keeps on saying that it is Islam vs Christianity but fails to mention the infighting of the Christian Religion and what it took for it to stop. This is the problem with Islam today it needs a reformation, will it ever be able to?

Σοφία What I meant by my statement is that Bob seems to think that more Christianty or the spreading of the message of Jesus is the best way to defeat Islam. My point was, how do you expect something to change when it can't change itself, a predisposition of sorts in the psyche.

The church is not the answer. That makes people slaves as much as Islam does. I am a Christian. I follow Christ, not a church. Bob went way off target. National identity is important. Laws, language and culture are what unite us. When you dilute that and deny your identity you lose your purpose to fight because you don't see the country as yours.

if the Romanians were not nationalists, they were lost as natives, trapped between their empires they could not survive, Romanian nationalism did not fail because it is not extremist, we say that England and France were not betrayed before WW2 and we fell into the hands of the Germans and of the Russians. Orthodoxy teaches you how to love people but teaches you to defend yourself and God did not make us slaves and fools. Russia does share same faith with Poland, do some reading about history of Poland and Russia, same religion but how many times Russians did try to overtake Poland, even when Germany attacked Poland in 1939, Russia stabbed Poland in the back. So if you check facts about Russia in the past you will clearly see that their's intentions did not come mostly from greed, not Christianity

I agree that nationalism has been the downfall. If you look what happened to Macedonia in 1912-1913 with the treaty of Bucharest, where our Christian 'brothers', the Greeks, Serbs and Bulgarians carved up Macedonia and began a brutal assimilation of the native Macedonian population. Macedonians suffered in the Ottoman empire, under the Turks, and after that we suffered in the hands of the Greeks, Serbs and Bulgarians. All that happened in the name of nationalism and not in the name of Christ.
Greeks at one stage even allied with the Turkish muslims against Macedonains.

and so was faith. yet people are holding on to both of them and insist on forcing them on others. the only fundamental things that should guide us in relation with one another are those forgotten things like equality, human rights and freedom. nationalism and religion are in direct conflict with these things as both cannot be achieved without opression and conflict
