Tune: The Biddy from Sligo
Piper: Alastair Lee
The David Naill "Vintage" line is new for 2020. It combines a vintage feel with a modern sound. Some features include:
Aged imitation ivory mounts
Small vintage projecting mounts
Flat non-beaded caps and ferrules (flush)
Narrower overall profile
Subtle bass drone changes for more powerful sound
The DN2V with hand-engraved nickel is a beautiful model, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous metalwork. Previously, engraving was only done on silver models, but the use of engraved nickel mounts allows for fantastic aesthetic details in a more affordable price range. No polishing required! All of the engraving - ferrules, slides, ring caps, and chanter band - make for a striking appearance.
Fabulous... I’m looking for a set of pipes and had an opportunity to reached out to “Tartantown” this morning... prompt, professional reply from Terry Lee - was a really positive experience! Knowledgeable and personal... 😊👍
Great tone.
Points of comparison “vintage line” vs “traditional line” - how would you describe 1) playability (holding tone, ease of tuning, blending with chanter); and 2) the tone/sound of the two drone sets... qualitatively? (This recording was spectacular - fabulous playing... ps. What chanter was used?). Thanks for the support?
That's a really fat sounding set! The harmonics btw chanter and drones are amazing!
Jesus wow
Wow
Great sound! Drone reeds used/recommended?
Hi Hugh. The drone reeds used were a white henderson harmonic bass drone reed and selbie tenors. These are my reeds I use for solos... So I would also recommended them.
