  • A little snow, plus rain and warm temperatures equals heavy wet packing snow. I warm up the Kubota LX2610 compact tractor and the LX2980 front mount snowblower for a run up the driveway to plow out the snow. What started out as a relaxing drive out to the Concession Road quickly became an adventure. I hope you will join me for a little while, here at the cottage, in the outdoors. Cheers!

Had the same kind of snow here in Northern Wisconsin. I swing the chute back and forth when coming to those bent over trees. It knocks the snow off and many of them spring right out of the way. Luckily, I didn't need a chain saw as the properties I clear are not mine.

I see a well placed scabbard on the Kubota and a small quantity of bar oil, fuel, scrench, and a file on board. Heck why stop there, bring a coffee pot and toaster oven. Awesome set up I did see clamp on scabbards somewhere on the internet. They go on the loader supports. Beautiful video thanks for posting. There are three kinds of people one complains how the weather is destroying the driveway, the second complains about how long it took someone to do all that work when the bill comes, and third what a great opportunity to spend some time outdoors enjoying the task at hand. I like your enthusiasm. On another note I put my dad's Kubota RTV to the test last weekend I'll try to get some video up. I was stunned at what it pulled. Probably 6 to 7k including the weight of the log trailer up hill. I wasn't even going to try it and thought I'll see how far it gets. It really didn't complain just walked right up the lawn onto the driveway and out. Amazing little piece of equipment. Happy New Year!

Great job on the video edit. Good to see you improvise as you go, and adapt when you need to. When you're out clearing, and trees are coming down, you can't hear the "crack", so the "I shouldn't be out here alone" rings very true. I notice you take a good look around at the trees near you, when you're gonna start chainsawing.....well done.

I guess one advantage of the snowblower is it throws the snow away from the road where a plow packs it against the sides. I know when I plow and it gets deep, the road gets narrower and narrower. This is because I have a fence on each side.

Hi GP. I just realized that you have a new tractor and a new Snowblower. I missed the transition to the new equipment. This video highlights the good and bad with a cab. If all you had was a roll bar, you could go under/thru some of those low hanging branches. But with the cab, you have to take the time to get them out of the way so not to damage your cab. Hopefully you only have to clear the trees and branches out one time per season if you have a big storm. I love your videos and hints & tips. Stay Safe my friend.

Wow!!! Beautiful video. Well you wanted an adventure and you got it. But, you forgot to cue the deer, to walk down the driveway, and appear in this video. Maybe next time. I’ll bet you were loving that heated cabin on this adventure, and stayed much dryer with it. Money well invested. Have a safe and Happy New Years.

Wow, that is indeed an adventure! First time I ever see a snowblower shooting for limbs so they can clear the way. At some point, it looked like a Nintendo game! Lol! Thanks GP!

LOL! It kind of turned into a bit of fun Joe. As you can see, I need more practice. LOL! Can't wait to see you clearing that new long driveway! Hope you and your family had a good New Years Day!

In the mid 70s I had a Kubota about the same size I had a bucket on the front for going up the driveway and blade on the back so didn't even have to turn around. No heated cab. Us Canadians are very tough.

Gord, another great video. Love the "extended play". How relaxing that must be - Tractor Therapy to be sure. Think it's time for a SAWHAUL on that bad boy. Yes, "Engauge", loved it. What a absolutely beautiful property you have. Peace.

What a chore! Folks who use the concession are lucky to have you. Maybe you and your buddies can work on clear cutting it about 10 feet more along each side in the summer? Happy new year! -Ed

GP out at the end by the gate you could hear the tractor bogging in down in the heavy wet snow. That is a beast of a tractor.

Sean, Gord’s cottage is in the Haliburton vicinity. Those last rains and above freezing temps we had in eastern Ontario were mostly snow and cold on the west side of a lineline running from the east side of Toronto northeast through Bancroft. On the west side of that line, it was either snow or a snow/rain mix. That cold/warm line ran from Toronto due south through the US. The western part of Pennsylvania was all snow, with rain in the east. It was colder in northern Florida’s on Christmas Eve and Day than it was in the whole eastern part of Canada. Strange weather indeed!

The blower handled that heavy snow better than the trees did.

The tractor did fantastic with that heavy snow. 👍

    Good morning GP.
    It sure was pretty.
But the cab made the difference. I am not sure if your blower dose the same but mine if you crank the shoot all the way to the right( sitting in the seat) you can blow the snow behind you. That is such a big help .
    The little things. Hahahah
    Happy New Year my friend.
Stay safe and always be kind.
    Cheers...
