How to create a productive study schedule
~Have a template or create one
: divide the template into eight columns the first column for the week and the rest seven for the days of the week
~ know what timing works for you, block it out
Personally- 6am-6:15am wake up, to do list
    6:15-6:55 gym exercise, workout
    Study- 7am- 10am [11-12pm- test hour]
    School- 10:00-3:15pm
30 min breaks- use the break time to REVISE what you studied in the class
    Tuition hours- 4-8pm ie 4-5:30 and 6-7:45
~keep the blank spaces blank. You need flexibility, catching up or just taking some time off
~you have to be ON IT. don’t give up your schedule if you mess up a little bit. Make up for it, reschedule, and substitute.

    Build a consistent daily schedule
Pick a time to wake up and go to bed and stick to it
Plan your day in 16 hours span
Get some physical activity in the morning to boost your energy and head clarity
Get in a good head space through prayer and be slow and intentional during your first hour
Create natural breaks in between work/study blocks (such as eating, exercise, walk, etc)
Decide when you want to go on your laptop, on your phone, etc. until you gain enough mental clarity not to do it automatically
When do I start and stop doing things
Devote your weekends to creation mode
Schedule one day a week to not have any work and recharge; rest IS productive

I love the organization but I find it a bit unrealistic to not only wake up early every day (including weekends), go to class and study right after each class. Where is the time for a break if you’re studying right after every course, every single day, and STILL waking up early on weekends and doing this. This is how students get burned out by mid semester

      @user-cg3vw1rf4i Před 2 lety +35

Exactly. I have class every day at 7 am and get 'free' of my classes at 5 pm and then study until midnight. Third week of this semester and I am already totally exhausted. Perhaps this could work for people with excellent mental health and that are really motivated, but for us who struggle with depression/anxiety, small breaks are our only source of serotonin. Plus, I barely sleep 5 hours per day there's no way I'm sacrificing my sleep in the weekends. It's really good in theory, just that real life is way messier.

I am also an early riser and have been able to alternate between 6am gym time and 6am study time for the days where I don't go to the gym. Also - building in natural breaks - like doing some chores after work, before starting my studies - also helped nail things down. And good reminder to take at least 1 day off per week when possible! Ehh?! I never thought I'd see you in my recommendations. I clicked your page thinking I'd just give your channel a slight peek, but I ended up listening pretty intently to your tips. To be honest, I've never been a very productive person. I've heard most of your advice before from videos or my peers, but I never managed to actually apply and enforce them in my daily life. In fact, I've barely even touched my textbooks over the summer, especially since there's no immediate sense of urgency with grade 12 feeling so far away. Though I can't say that listening to you speak about building a routine has been "absolutely life-changing" or that you've "saved my academic career," I think that's it's amazing to see somebody you view as successful tell you exactly how they achieved it. It makes everything seem so much more obtainable, that one day I can have that as well. In that sense, my main issue was believing I was innately incapable of success. Thank you for being somebody I look up to, and thanks again for giving me this boost of self-belief :)

This is a bit late but I'm a senior in high school now. I had to redo junior year because of the age cut off and I think it really helped. Age has a lot to do with how well you're doing, and I think people don't get that enough. Especially to those who already struggle to focus due to ADHD (diagnosed personally) also have the issue of being mentally "younger" than our neurotypical counterparts. Therefore personally I still feel like a freshman in hs mentally! This really helped, but I'd personally like to add some notes that are somewhat unrelated to this video but may help those who struggle to plan with ADHD.
    1. give yourself blocks that can be anything. These can be a few small places throughout the day, just so you can motivate yourself to move forward. Then you'll know that no matter what happens, you have a time where you can run and do something! Fix your bed, fix your bathroom, typical ADHD procrastination things that stop you from doing the things that you should be doing.
    2. give yourself three "genres" of things you should do throughout the day. Then your tasks can be divided and you can plan accordingly. These genres for me personally are HARD SCHOOL, EASY SCHOOL, and HOME. Easy school for me would be things like "read 3 pages of this book" and "check planner" while hard school would be "math 4.1" or "Prep essay for tomorrow". GIVE YOURSELF DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF THINGS SO YOU CAN PLAN EASY/HARD THINGS WHERE YOU WILL BE MOST MOTIVATED.
    3. please give yourself an hour to two hours to eat so you can give yourself time to calm down. People with ADHD (and almost always those with ASD like me) can often feel stressed during changes to your schedule. Transition is SO HARD for me so this is a serious help to me and I think it could help you.
    4. GIVE YOURSELF A CHANCE TO BREATHE. bathroom breaks must be factored in or you may get sidetracked or worried that you've taken too long doing your potty duties.
    5. KNOW YOUR LIMITS. Everyone has limits and sometimes placing things in your schedule next to another thing will burn you out.
These are my extra tips for what to add to someone with ADHD. They are a bit broad but I've shown these things to my friends with ADHD and it has helped them a ton in their productivity. The things above can especially be good for those who are still at home and are still in high school. Remember that even if you have ADHD, you CAN DO THIS. It will be harder, but you CAN DO IT!

I just felt the need to comment to get this out there. I have such bad concentration and procrastination issues and over the years this has led to so much unused potential. I am terrified of doing self-studies this year to catch up with advanced maths and physics (because I did vocational school for high school I couldn't have them as courses there). I am so scared of my stupid shit brain bringing me down, hitting the snooze button, doing naps and just not being relyable. These kinds of videos help me to get motivated to get motivated... You know what I mean? I learned recently that the most important thing is to fake it till you make it, and your brain will be tricked into thinking "Yeah, I am totally the kind of person who bullet journals and does nice notes", when naturally, I am the kind of person to spend my life binge reading and getting into a million hobbies without completing them.
In conclusion, thank you for making these kinds of videos. While I could totally make my own schedule like this, listening to someone else talk about how organized and good they feel helps me stay on track with my own goals, and convince myself that this is what is best for me. I appreciate people like you immensely.
