Thank you for posting the ink swatches both ways, Shimmer and no shimmer. I've never seen anyone do that before and I think it's a great idea. I love J Herbin stormy grey, but I generally use it without the shimmer.

You have a great green collection! My fav is Avocado and Black Green. Because I don’t like the maintenance around shimmer inks, I avoid them totally (just with a dip nib on Christmas Cards).
Your idea to use only the ink on top without shimmer is great! I will try that with Robert Oster Violet clouds because I love that light purple so much 😊

My favorite "non-shimmer" shimmer ink is Robert Oster Rose Gold Antiqua. I love it without the shimmer

@@journalwithtiff7221 oh, that’s also a good one (without shimmer )

What a beautiful selection of greens! I love this color family too. I have a sample of Olive Swirl and I have been seriously considering inking it up without the shimmer, but I think this has nudged me over the edge. Your swatches both ways are very clever and I appreciate it.
I have both Kakimori nibs, but I’ve only used the steel. I just recently got the brass and haven’t tested it yet. My steel one does this too sometimes. I’m usually careful about hand oils on the nib, but sometimes it just happens. I use dish soap and a bristled brush to clean it and it can help. The other trick I have it to keep a dry paintbrush with my swatching supplies. After I rinse and dry the nib with a cloth, I brush the dry paintbrush through the grooves to get out any water droplets in between swatches. It seems to help since I’ve started using it. Water can get trapped there so easily.
I hope you get your Kakimori nib working like you prefer and I’d love to hear if you are able to figure out what is causing your issue. Thank you so much for sharing! 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋

I just can’t do shimmer. The ones I have will not get shaken before using. Yellowey, not a color for me but the word id perfect.😂

I was so frustrated with my Kakimori brass nib that I got the steel one as well just to see if that would make a difference… and it does. No issues with that one at all. The tip is a bit sharper, I dare say, but other than that I really prefer it to the brass one now. Thanks for sharing, green is my favorite color.

I have the same problem with my Brass Kakimori nib... the flow of the brass nib is crazy. I get blobs of ink and dry patches when I swatch my inks. I’ve pressed extra hard on the paper and wrote lightly (I have a heavy hand when writing normally) I’m not sure of a solution... I have been practicing with it to see if it is just how I write with it, and how it responds. I think it works better writing with a lighter hand (I’m so heavy handed) and using just the very tip of the nib... I find that has worked best to write words.
I am not a fan of shimmer inks either. I wish the ink makers would make a non shimmer versions of their shimmer inks...
I hate that the shimmer inks clog my pens no matter what size nib I use. I did buy the White Lightning Additive from Vanness Pens to use mainly on dryer inks and yesterday I tried a few teeny-tiny drops of White Lightning with my Vinta Sepia Isabela ink (I separated some ink intro a sample vial first) and it flows a lot better with my TWSBi 1.1 Stub nib now.
I would caution you though. Just to use a blunt needle, and teeny-tiny drops of White Lightning. I just dip the clean blunt needle into the WL bottle, put it into the sample vial, and stir it into the vial... So far the Vinta Sepia Isabela ink has been behaving better... I’ve had no clogging and the feed of my TWSBI 1.1 Stub. Plus the feed isn’t laden with glitter particles since I did that, it’s actually clean...
That White Lightning Additive may also help with breaking the surface tension of the ink with the Kakimori Brass nib, and it may help the nib write better... One bad thing that could happen with the White Lighting Additive is that may change the properties (like dull the chromo-shading or change the color) of the ink a bit...
Pretty green inks and a nice video, thanks for posting. I could watch ink swatching videos all day evr-day :)

I do think I want a TWSBI stub for headers using shimmer inks. Or maybe a different type of dip pen, one with flex for lettering with those inks. And you're right about the white lightening... That stuff is strong! The bottle says one drop per 10ml I think.
      Thanks for watching!

InkebarraDijon and Robert Oster Muddy Bucket both look golden brown to me. I can’t discern any green undertone.

Thank you for the green swatch video. I agree with you. I like the fact that you did both shimmer and no shimmer swatches. I am not a shimmer fan. I prefer shading. The Diamine Olive Swirl has both pink and green shimmer. It can been seen on your swatches and in the comparison swatch card.
    I don’t buy shimmer inks.
On another note, do you have an update on the Leonardo pen? Did the seller allow you to return the pen and for you to pick the colors you really wanted to see in the pen?

So I decided to just return the Leonardo. I was to frustrated to deal with trying to get another one. So I'm still on the hunt for THE Leonardo.
