  • Here we go again! Me, Zor, Lovey and Blue, we are getting back together this week and getting back into shape and before we start our big learning.
When I begin working with a new horse, or starting back with horses that know my method and me, I always begin with an assessment.
This is only fair to your horse. We need to know where they are holistically, get feedback, and before we begin teaching them (aka, training).

Thank you my friend! He is. I was telling Jeaneen about me working on getting permission to get on with you filming months ago and how disasterous it was for me (not him:) How impatient I became and I knew it and it felt wrong and that's why he kept walking off. I was SO incongruent and I'm always congruent and I couldn't get out of my head enough to realize that at that moment. But my baby showed me how "off" I was and how wrong it felt for us both. He did it patiently and lovingly so it never excalated and I also didn't push it. My ego definitely got the best of me that day and instead of taking the time it takes, I thought I could test it. Not rush it, but test him to see if he was ready. Of course he was NOT ready. I hadn't put the time in to earn that level of trust with him needed to allow me on his back, not the time needed to make sure he was emotionally agile. Good news is I didn't ruin anything and I took my own advice! At least I'm getting better at that, taking it and not just giving it!

What does it mean when there necks nose are low to the ground? Just stretching out ? My horse does this when we lunge in the pen

Yes, your horse is likely just stretching, which is exactly what you want! They need to do this and to have a nice long open loose topline and be using their hind-end for balance and collection and that will all help develop a beautiful frame *naturally* without having to use your hands/reins to pull (force) them into a frame.
