I'm 36 and this song still hits me hard; reminds me of my life in high school and how this album made me connect to so many people. Music feeds the soul.
2024 and I’m here really feeling the crushing feeling of getting older and missing the days of being front row of these shows every summer living like kings. Now I share my love of these bands with my kids who I hope carry the torch for the screamo bands.
@@Majorkip i’m not talking about when the song came out, lol. i’m literally talking about how it says 15 years ago as when the video was uploaded to youtube. The fact that it’s been 15 yrs since this video was uploaded to youtube is wild.
Ill make you feel a little better, my heyday was in the 80’s and 90’s from punk to the alternative movement…now i was in my early 30’s when the Emo movement began and i loved it! I am 52 now but i still go to the skate park with both my kids that are 18/20 yrs old and we listen to all the emo bands and alternative bands! To this day i still skate to this and surf! This music will never get old it just gets better!!!
I wasn't prepared for the emotional hit of listening to this as a 30 year old after I adored it as a 14-15 year old. I was in a really bad place mentally then and it's quite amazing that they still make me feel the way they made me feel all those years ago. Powerful music that people are always going to need.
Im 31 … mostly listen to rap/hip hop .. but back in the day i just used to watch videos all the time.. That’s how i know this song .. I miss those music video channels and shows:.
The stars will cry The blackest tears tonight And this is the moment that I live for I can smell the ocean air And here I am Pouring my heart onto these rooftops Just a ghost to the world That's exactly Exactly what I need From up here the city lights burn Like a thousand miles of fire And I'm here to sing this anthem Of our dying day For a second I wish the tide Would swallow every inch of this city As you gasp for air tonight I'd scream this song right in your face If you were here Swear I won't miss a beat 'Cause I never Never have before From up here the city lights burn Like a thousand miles of fire And I'm here to sing this anthem Of our dying day Of our dying day Of our dying day Of our dying For a second I wish the tide Would swallow every inch of this city As you gasp for air tonight From up here the city lights burn Like a thousand miles of fire And I'm here to sing this anthem Of our dying day From up here the city lights burn Like a thousand miles of fire And I'm here to sing this anthem Of our dying day From up here the city lights burn Like a thousand miles of fire And I'm here to sing this anthem Of our dying day Our dying day Of our dying
The lyrics "from up here the city lights burn like a thousand miles of fire" is forever stuck in my head. Something special about it, unsettling yet beautiful, I keep coming back to the song because of it after so many years.
I'm going down a emo nostalgia hole. I knew I loved this song in middle school, but I could only remember "city lights burn like a... something something" and now I suddenly remember everything
Literally cried in the front row when they played this at the Brooklyn Bowl in Vegas this last weekend. Incredible band. Crazy energy for 1am. It’s a core memory for my sister and I, when we’d been dreaming of seeing them since Page Avenue.
Saw that show in Houston! We were in the nosebleed at the very side of the stage so I couldn’t hear crap. I can’t even remember if they played this or not. I remember the singer had a really emo haircut though hahaha!
I remember beeing a teenager listening to this band, hoobastank, linkin park, breaking benjamin, evanescensce, yellowcard, sum41 etc. It was a great era of music these years 2002-2006 something. Then I don't know what the f* happened really.
For me, the music I identify with most came between the mid-90s and mid-2000s. But there's been a lot of amazing songs both before and since this era; just not on the radio as often.
I'm 55 and like my daughter says, I was raised an Emo mom. Just saw these guys in Chicago and this song was sooo powerful. Loved it!!!! Too bad they were cut short😢 but got to hear this song❤
June 30, 2020, amid the Coronavirus Pandemic. I'm 25, and I remember listening to this as a Freshman in High School. It gives such a nostalgic feeling, a feeling of days more gentle than today, something to look back fondly on.
Me and my girlfriend had our kid the year this came out. while we were still in college. We were barely out of our teens, now our daughter is going off to college, only 2 years younger than we were at the time. I remember walking by her room and hearing this, along with other Screamo rock, I was taken aback.
Used to listen to this a lot last year when me and my baby’s mother broke up, my 3 year old daughter likes it so much now because I would always sing it. Family says I actually sing it pretty good so now I can’t go anywhere without my baby girl wanting me to play it on repeat. I’ll never get tired of it. She even makes her mom play it in her car when she’s missing me ❤️
This is nostalgia. I was 13 year old when this album coming out. Of course, first song what i hear was And the hero will drown - from NFS Underground, like many us, but this song is one of the best song ever. Anyway, album Page avenue is still with me, over 11 years. Many years back I listening it on mp3 player and now i still transmit this album from mp3 to next and next smartphones. Yeah, best music about year 2000. Enjoy the music and thumbs up for SOTY :)
Same. First song was And the Hero Will Drown from NFS Underground. That's when I was like 6 or 7 years old when I play that game. So much that I stayed on that song for many years that last year or 2, I decided to hear more songs from them. It's so damn worth hearing their song which are awesome to hear. Probably one of the best bands.

I fly for a living, and 100% of the time I fly at night I sing to myself “From up here the city lights burn, like a thousand miles of fire… and it takes me back to my teenage years every time!
When I moved into my college dorm during the summer of my freshman year in 2004, all the TVs in the common areas played MTV U, and this song was on once an hour that entire summer. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of walking to dinner with my friends, talking about where we were going to go that night. Good times. Glad I had them.

I was 14 years old since this music video uploaded on CZcams... Now I'm 30 but everytime I listen to this song feels like I'm still a teen like before... The era of good old music still beats right before my very heart
I love this entire album since the guitar driven and melodic vocals are so thrilling to me as a guitarist and this song truly stands out as one of the best from SOTY.
Well, this takes me back to late high school early college years. Wasn't a huge fan of this style of singing but got into Story of the Year. And the guitarists are so good in this band.
My dumb ass has tried to find this song and video for over ten years and it randomly showed up in a google search. My brain suddenly remembered every single word as soon as it played.
i grew up and i am a profesional. i listen this song and i am thinking and remembering my Childhood...i have never listen this song...this is a Masterpiece....o am crying
Revisiting some old Story of the Year jams from Page Avenue, a big album for me in highschool. A lot of the pop punk bands can be a little cringe, just like all things that age, but looking back you can’t deny the talent here. Every piece of the band is really going for it from the drums, guitar, lyrics, vocals and the production values and mixing are excellent as well. Maybe it’s a bit manufactured and over saturated for the time period, but it still stands on its own. I mean, it’s aged better than some of the other 2000s pop punk. Cheers.
This song helped me grieve the loss of my father when I was 21 in 2009. Hearing it again now, brings back all the pain I went through, how I overcame it, how strong I am today
2024 and this song still hits hard!! I'm 33 and this song still is 🔥🔥🔥

I don’t think most realize the impact this album had. This was the first post-hardcore album to go gold.
Remember hearing this on my Walkman radio, I'd stay up for hours just to hear it in the early hours
🥹 memories! I’m 31 and this song 🎵 makes me feel in my teens again. Remember the first time I saw the video in the Fuse channel. 🥲
This song reminds me of prom, girlfriends I forgot I had, AIM, dial-up internet, and a life I miss; one that I can't manage to find again.
Haha this is funny but so true! If we could only travel time...

33 and still rocking out to this the same as when i was 17. dang.
Here in 2022 & this song came out when I was in grade 9.... When did I get old??
This IS the anthem of our dying day... this song means so much more!! 32 years old and I’ll love love it until my dying day!
I started singing these lyrics without realizing I still knew them. It's been 16 years since I heard this song. That's trippy.
Born 1994, first music to listen damn, already 26 yrs but it never gets old like GOLD

I can tell by your username that you like Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, right?
From first to last....
Cheers.
33 years old here.. wow one my favorite songs.. 2021
This song helped me grieve the loss of my father when I was 21 in 2009. Hearing it again now, brings back all the pain I went through, how I overcame it, how strong I am today
The fuse "Oven Fresh" logo and "videopimp" watermark combined with 240p add to the Nostalgia of this x1000
