And how did he know what card to palm? Blaine had a free choice, he could have picked any other card. Or he was palming all 52 cards somehow and could also immediately cut to the selected one? Your theory has big holes in it.

There's a video where he explains it.
You can't see it in the video here, but the longer version of the video shows him reach into his pocket when he first gets out. He said he had to choose red or blue pack and he completely guessed and went with blue so it worked out the random deck happened to be red.
Essentially once the deck is chosen, he reaches into the advocate, palms Blaine's chosen card and then puts into the middle of the deck when the riffle shuffles the deck.
After that, its just making it look believable.

that's literally the point of it. go watch Daniel's video on it he did a year ago and you'll see. He explains every detail of the trick in that video.

Watching it a second time I could see the card. The other guy must have been in on it. And if so it's a terrible trick.

@@ZER0-- I own The Advocate. There is no need for anyone else to be in on it. As you said in your original post, it would be a terrible trick if the other guy was in on it. But luckily, that's not the case.
I highly recommend The Advocate. One of my favourite utilities
