i played college ball in the early 70's. i was a running back. followed football religiously for decades. but the last 20 years has seen my interest wane...
too many rule changes that make this a different game.
defense can't do a damned thing.
i didn't mind being clocked by a defender. tried to avoid it. but in spinning, juking, and tossing forearms at my tacklers i occasionally got lit up. that's football. that's the game.
this is the worse rule change. the worse.
i may just stop watching the game.
Its a damn shame really taking the physicality out of football
how are dbs supposed to tackle a player from behind without going for the hips pull they jersey and hope for the best???
I didn’t know we were playing “balls balls” instead of football now! The defensive players might as well apologize to the ball carrier every time he gets taken to the ground or else feelings will be hurt throughout the game! We can’t have hurt feelings now that it’s 2024! Yeah, I’m about to stop watching the NFL for good if they keep this bullshit up!

The NFL tried their best to overshadow the CTE issue by focusing on the "kneeling during the anthem" issue. This was enough to temporarily confuse many fans but not enough to confuse parents.. Parents across the country began forbidding their sons from playing full contact football for obvious reasons. Unless the NFL can come up with additional rules that will (supposedly) protect their sons from being hurt, the business is destined to recruiting tactics akin to traditional boxing. So, the NFL has no choice but to keep changing rules; praying that the parents keep putting their sons in the program and hopefully maintaining a large talent pool to draw from.
