    I definitely feel like having a QB who can squat the weight of roughly 2 defensive linemen might contribute to having success with a play that is basically just pushing the DLine 2 yards back

    • @What_In_This_World
      @What_In_This_World Před 5 měsíci

      Watch the eagle o-line, they get low and underneath the defenders shoulders and almost bear crawl the first step or two and then push forward while the center appears to generally pick one side to twist towards, allowing hurts to go behind him, guaranteeing a yard or two at the very worst. Combine that with the backs pushing forward on the line and hurts at times, allowing for a few extra seconds for the pile to move forward. It’s just great technique, plain and simple. It’s almost like watching Tom Brady do the QB sneak back in the day. He was a master at it and Hurts may be the new master at it now, maybe even better than Tom was in his prime. If Hurts stays healthy his career and he keeps improving as a passer ( not saying he is bad at all ) he could be one of the best we see for years to come. Hope he doesn’t plateau like we are seeing with some of the guys now, like Mahomes, Allen and Burrow, who all seem to be stuck at a point where they are not getting much better then they already are. But only time will tell. Could be coaching issues with those guys, could be defenses are getting better, could be the NFL wants something specific to happen this year and are making it happen ( Flacco farewell superbowl MVP tour ? ) 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    • @chrisknoblock

      @trentbrubaker7301 Wrong. It's not about the QB. It allows Kelce to get lower, giving him more leverage and preventing the defense from standing him up. Hurts basically slides over the top of him, and the guards.

    I've watch how Kelce snaps the ball he lines up well over the ball when it comes to the tush push, which might give him the advantage to snap the ball and get his hands up in time to push the man across from him, regular snaps he's got his arm out further ahead of him, I may be wrong but ive watched the play a lot really close to the line and its hard to say when the ball is snapped because of all the mayhem so I've also been looking at the line before the snap and I've seen Kelce's stance is well over the ball when it comes to this play

I’m not a Eagles fan but it’s not their fault they got one of the best O-Line, a QB that can squat god who knows how much I can’t really remember it, and a rugby coach that taught them how to do it perfectly. It’s not their fault that the fans team Defenses suck at stopping the “Tush Push”. Like it’s just a good play and everybody knows that it’s going to happen at the 1-yard line in the red-zone.

    The comments that say "it's all of those" are basically right - it's just hard work and putting the puzzle together. However, I want to shout out an additional piece that hasn't been mentioned in the video and that is the freakishly fast snaps of Kelce. If you meassure the time from the ball first getting off the ground to Kelce already being in full tackle position after the ball has left his hand, I think he would top the league by a mile.
    He is very humble about it and said on his podcast "oh? you mean the every QB I ever played with hates how I snap the ball snap?", but in my opinion it's an important detail.

The line just stays so much lower, they barely even pick their heads up and keep the shoulders super low. Other teams seem to try and stand more upright to get a push, but instead end up giving the defense more of their body to to get a hold of and penetrate the backfield.

    What makes it so unstoppable is the offensive linemen know the snap count so if you are a defensive lineman you are pretty much getting tackled by the entire eagles offense before you even know what is happening.

    To me it’s the center that makes the play. The whole defense has to react to the snap while the center knows when he is going to hike the ball. Slight advantage every time.

    They dive at the defensive linemen’s knees and ankles. The defensive linemen have a choice. Either they jump up and lay down with not leverage to stop the pushing QB and RB’s to avoid a career ending injury, or they get their knee blown out and still probably don’t stop it because you can’t push too well without and ACL, MCL, PCL, or LCL

  • @mugshotmarley
    @mugshotmarley Před 5 měsíci

    yes its the oline, hurts n the backs pushing him, but it comes down to timing. Eagles control when the ball is hiked and know what count to go on and practice moving as one unit. so they all move forward at the same time. The def doesn't know when the ball is gonna be hiked, so they'll be inconsistency in the d line. Some reacting later/softer to the o line moving together as one. A soft gap will open up either on left, right or forward and its jalen's job to see that and aim for it. then the te/rb behind him push him forward.

    Counter with defense coached by Rugby coach on how to win a scrum. Lower leverage and churning legs instead of submarining.

  • @user-mq9xu9uo9l

    The real secret to the tush push is that they put two running backs behind Hurts who push him to the left side of the o-line. That side is the strongest and biggest side having Landon Dickerson and Jordan Mailata. Interlocking body parts is illegal in the NFL but Dickerson, Mailata, and Kelce effectively bind their shoulders together and just churn their feet as hard as they can pushing the defense back. Then hurts just follows the push or gets pushed over the pile by the running backs and rolls off the other side.
    Hope this helps!

    @DystopiaFatigue Před 5 měsíci

    Kelce has been caught moving the ball forward (or shown to be without penalty) more times than all other centers combined. Stealing half of the distance needed before the snap certainly doesn't hurt your chances.
    My issue with it is that it was not allowed to push the ball carrier forward until recently. It's not a matter of making it illegal or not. It's about restoring the longstanding, original rule. The ball carrier must advance the ball. Same for all those open field scrums. You shouldn't be able to get help running the ball.
    Most modern rule changes are about making the game either safer or shorter. This achieves the opposite of safety.

    Another thing players don't understand is when the defense jumps on top to try and pull them back, all they do is add another 200+ lbs to the forward momentum. By the time they can even use their strength to pull, they've already got 1-3 needed yds.

    It’s how they line up. Linemen’s feet are closer to one another’s and they are all lower in their stance than normal. This is essentially how they create a wall. They are also already heavily leaning forward, which allows them to move the D-line back much easier. It’s basic physics.

    They have learned to collectively push as 1 unit. The opposite of this is where the line collectively blocks for field goals. They lock together as a unit.
    But there is a simple solution!
    These teams are trying to match strength to strength; each trying to push each other out of the way.
    The key is to prevent the leverage.
    Instead of matching strength to strength,
    the defensive line must just COLLAPSE.
    The result is NOTHING TO PUSH.
    The offensive line with COLLAPSE on top with NO WHERE to push or go.
    The linebackers can then penetrate over the top to meet head on the QB.
    With the safeties catching any side movement and closing in the edges.
    It is just plain physics.

    In the NFL, something is always unstoppable until a better thinking person figures out how to stop it and the rest of the league copies it.
    Then it's just another, "remember when" play.

    That’s a rugby scrum down everyday of the week. Replace the props for guards and the hook for center. Just the names is different. Scheme wise they’re the same. Locks are your Personal protectors. And the 8 man mr RB. Only way to beat it is pull the first row down to stuff Jalen 1v1. Still a tuff way to win it prolly only works 2% of the time 😉.

    People are constantly saying this play needs to be banned but the truth is that if only one team can do it then there is no point in banning it. What is next we are going to ban passes over 15 yards because one team has a hall of fame QB Receiver combo? If every team becomes as good as the Eagles at it then we can talk but right now the other teams just need to spend time learning how to stop it rather than slam their heads into the wall.

    Everyone is midline and above the mass. It’s called mass + force below the waist. Watch how high up opposing defensive lines are, they collapse on top of the pile, rather than rugby driving the opposite direction.
