Your loving care and ingenuity never ceases to amaze me, you are so not stupid. you built them a lovely new home from an old coffee table made it cosy and you fed them all night and all day, you are an ace mouse mom. Lucky mice.
Lol on the mouse mom you're funny. She has a beautiful ♥️.
Hi mouse mom you doing a great job .I new from the moment I subscribe to your channel that you different.Keep up the good work.
My cat 🐈 smoked a dangerous mouse last night....i thru it out into yard with a pair of pliers....🙀😺😿😹
I definitely wouldn't call her stupid, what she is doing is very kind... but i did chuckle a bit when she started trying to build a mouse wheel wout of a log😅
She’s so kind & puts so much effort into everything she does. She’s a lesson in how to be a good human!
This exact same thing happened to me! I live trapped a "large" mouse last fall but the weather forecast was horrible so I thought I'd be nice and wait a couple days before releasing him/her. Suddenly there were 5 babies in the enclosure. I kept and fed them all for WEEKS until they were ready to be released. The night before I was going to let them go, they all escaped into my house. On the plus side, I'm pretty sure they never wanted to see me again because there was zero evidence of them after. I guess my 5 star mouse hotel and gourmet meals wasn't to their liking. The things we do.
Haha this made me laugh so hard! But I love that you tried your best taking care of them. I'm sure you did a great job 😅
Who neuters mice??? Lol
Hahahah so ungrateful 😂I was just thinking that Hannah could release them close to home and make a little feeding spot for them to come back to. She could set u a night cam and everything🥰 In a safe place tho so owls can't catch them.
@@tracychamberlin3502 totally!!! Haha. Or mouse birth control?
Because they probably all DIED because you aren't a mouse and they never learned to survive without a human so releasing them just killed them. Which is What you should have let happen in the first place because that is called mother nature and darwinism and playing God by trying to help baby house mice pests survive is just for your own personal ego and not for the benefits of their species. Baby mice die my the thousands everyday and that is ok because that maintains the natural order of things. And yes you trapping them is also part of the natural order of things because people have existed in the same ecosystem as mice for 100s of thousands of years.
Having done this before, I will warn you, as they are wild mice there will come a point where its time to let them go. You'll know cause they'll suddenly start getting anxious and acting wild and trying to escape from you when they were fine being held before. This is just because they are not domesticated, and thus their little brains are hardwired to being in the wild. Also once they get to eating real food, try finding any local nuts and seeds and grasses around you to feed them, that will help show them what to eat when they are set free :D Good luck!
@@tatertots-n-soup Being born in captivity does not make them a domesticated species, and thus, they still have all the instincts and tendencies of a wild mouse. This will most likely result in them not being well suited to a life in captivity. When I raised a few baby mice they hit a point where they clearly became stressed and anxious because they were not wired to live in an enclosed space.
It does not matter what you do, if you take an animal that has not gone through the process of domestication (something that is a long process taking generations of selective breeding) they will always be a wild animal, and while they may do okay in captivity with a lot of work, it is always always best to aim to return them to where they belong.
@@tatertots-n-soup imagine you bringing home and taking care of a wild cat. It will not be domesticated because it’s genetics are wild. Whether or not an animal is domesticated or not has to do with the genetics and not the individual animal. A “wild” animal could act very friendly but you would never call it domesticated. A friendly lion is still a wild cat not a domesticated one. Domestication happens over a long course of time long enough for them to evolve. Born in captivity just means that it was born while it wasn’t in the wild. This does not affect the genes of the animal. As an individual human, we are not able to domesticate an animal. It happens over the course of hundreds and thousands of years. There is a certain wildness that you can not take out of a wild animal no matter if it was wild caught or born in captivity. The wildness originates from its genetics, something we cannot change.
@@tatertots-n-soup What? I don't quite get what you are talking about
Yess! Exactly! And now they are wild mice with no survival skills and will just get eaten or die of starvation with a day or 2 of being released.
This whole thing is dumb! And cruel. Just for some cute CZcams video and to make yourself feel better - it's not cute, you shouldn't mess with nature and natural selection, and you shouldn't domesticated wild animals that you don't intend to keep their whole life because these mice now know to like and trust humans instead of being naturally afraid with them. If something doesn't eat them, the next person's house they run into will kill them.
Loving animals sometimes means letting mother nature take its course and letting them die....because well.....THAT IS NATURE!
@hey please leave your religion out of it
i had found a one week old baby kitten and i was the "cat mom" i did everything his mom would've done, was up every 2 hours every night for two/almost three months... i know how hard it is but the feeling of seeing them grow and knowing all your hard work was worth it is unexplainable.. This reminded me of those time and I am so proud of you for sticking up for this cuties! Keep us updated on them pls!!
Btw my cat is turning six months old this month and he is, quiet literally, my baby. He is healthy and so handsome ♡
Thank you for saving him ❤️🙏🏼
I hope you are both doing well
I foster cats and recently had a mama and her babies. She wasn't stimulating them to pee/poop, so I was up every three hours day and night helping her care for them. I empathize with your current situation - it's rewarding and exhausting and scary all at the same time.
I bet she returned but couldn’t get up the glass to get back to feed her babies. You are very good to take care of the babies and you did your best
Best logical answer
Yes, its common for rodent moms to go off in search of food or a safer (to them) place for their babies and if she got out but count get back in she mightve just deemed them lost and left. I used to raise rats, rodents are so intelligent and great escape artists. And if Hanna sees this... Those babies will find a way to escape that cage once they start being able to climb.
@@rainelizabeth4406 one of the best rodent pets I ever had was a dumbo rat. Sweetest little guy used to fall asleep in my hand and would never bite. Knew his name and his best friend was our cat 🥰. They don’t live nearly long enough 😭
@@brightpurpleviking wow....thanks for sharing that.
@@brightpurpleviking Aww .. how long do they live? He lived happy though ♡
Mice can be weaned from the mother around 21 days old, that's probably when you can switch them to harder foods, or at least moist solid foods if they seem a bit too small. Also to sex them, check the distance between the genitals and the anus (anogenital distance). If the distance is short, it's female. If the distance is longer and there's more fur in between, it's male. You can also check this at around 21 days. There are a lot of photos online too! Once they hit around 60 days, they will start to breed, so you might need to separate them or get the males neutered.
Thank you for sharing your mice babies, I used to work with mice a lot and I miss them 🥺❤️
Wait they’ll breed with each other?
This is awesome. Hope Hannah sees this!!
@@kaylincreative you betcha
@@kaylincreative yes, and, I don't know with mice but hamsters eat ther babys and can kill each other. If you have hamsters separete them, they showld live 1 per habitat. Mice, I think, are les agresive, but if you let them procreate you end up with 30 in no time
@@ChloeMMorgan you obviously don't have experience with prepubertal mice, they don't immediately have large testicles until they are adult mice. Also, yes you can neuter and spay mice. Any mouse you adopt from the humane society will likely be neutered or spayed.
I always said if you want to know if a person is good, look at how they treat animals. So Hannah is superb !!!!
There is literally nothing Hannah can’t do.
Agreed 💯
She's a true Renaissance woman 💕
Truth!
No kidding 👍
@@tatertots-n-soup dude you’re literally bringing her down under every comment saying something nice about her. Honestly, get a life. If she’s this bad in your eyes then you’re not much better…
didn’t think i could adore hannah any more, welp i have been proven wrong 😭 thank you for being you hannah❤️
This reminds me so much of last spring when we found baby squirrels in our attic and no mom came back for them. We raised two babies inside for 2-3 months and released them. A year later and we still see them in our trees. They also stop by for peanut snacks 😊
I can attest to those first few weeks of feedings being exhausting! But so worth it.
I feel you, took in a pregnant mama cat... I've never worked so hard and I had 3 babies myself... between changing out litter box daily for a litter of 8, and feeding the runt, to transitioning to cat food... thinking about it exhausts me 😆
The care we choose to put in to these beings amazes me. Thank you for doing that!
Aw!! That’s such a sweet thing to do!
You're like Cinderella with your little nice friends. Only in this version you're their nice mice stepmousther and you already met your prince charming 🐁🐁🐁🐁 👩❤️👨 I'm loving this little fairytale family you got going
You’ve done so well with the babies! They have a perfect muma!
this brings back good memories. when i was a kid, my father accidentally disturbed a mouse nest that had been put together in his tool box, leaving three infant mice. me and my sister adopted them and took care of them, feeding them with tiny siringes until they were adults. I loved those baby mice, and I miss them!
Dude, that edit with you saying, "I'm gonna do it," then affirmatively reassuring yourself in the next frame with, "I'm doing it," and a smile. Adorable! Fantastic.
Every creature has a right to live, you are a sweet young lady.
Yes 💚 that’s why I’m vegan.
Great job, Hannah!
Paper bedding, or aspen are great - not pine shavings as oils are toxic.
Avoid cotton wool as the fibres can be ingested and get wrapped around limbs.
Kiddie craft glue and aquarium sealant are safe.
Bird seeds/sunflower seeds etc to eat, occasional fruits, occasional protein liked chicken, boiled egg or meal worms.
Lots of recycled packaging and junk to play and hide in, prey animals need to feel safe.
Will start to mate from 4 - 6 weeks.
Good luck, enjoy your babies! 🥰
organic hemp bedding is good too and none toxic. No THC, its just hemp, related , but industrial , regenerative..love the stuff
And can breed every 18 days, lol🤪
@@heatherk8931 dang that is a quick turn around. I am getting some rescued rabbits. I was reading up on them and found out that right after the doe has her babies she can get pregnant again and usually does. Mine will be spayed and neutered. They will live a nice life and I ll have all the best bunny poo manure there is ! I live in a sandbox lot in Vegas, so its a great exchange. Organic material would cost me and has cost me so much...fascinating about the mice. Did not know . Thanks for sharing!
They need more bedding and stuff to hide in, the cage is supposed to be cluttered.
Hannah, you’re an incredible girl. Anyone who puts so much care into looking after the most tiny & vulnerable of creatures is a stellar human being. Not only are you are a gorgeous & empathetic girl, you’re highly skilled & practical. I’m sure Matt realises he got an absolute catch in such an awesome girl. Please never say you’re “silly” for your efforts. Tbh, I wish a lot more human beings were like you! Subscribed to your channel purely based on your kindness, commitment & hard work. Never change! 💕
i had 3 rats and one of them had 13 pups, they are so adorable! IMO you handled this situation great, thank you for not giving up on them!
I saved a feeder mouse once. Thought he would be dead in a day the way he looked. He passed 5 years later. 🤣 I feel like he lived a good life.
I watch a guy on YT who rescued a grocery store lobster, it is really fascinating, he molted a few weeks ago and it was so interesting!
Leon the lobster ? I love him ! 😆
@@arandavirginie1053 Yes, Leon! He's such a fascinating creature, I love his vids!
I've been caring for a little lamb born 2 days ago and I get having to wake up every few hours to feed him. It's worth it tho seeing them grow and get stronger. Good luck to you and your mice!
Quick Tip:
~Next time you cut plexiglass, leave the cellophane on, it helps in preventing (as much) shrapnel and decreases the chipping factor. Also taping the cutting line works too.
I understand your predicament. I think it's wonderful that you decided to care for the orphaned babies. I think you can tell a lot about a person by how they treat animals. Last year I was cleaning my chicken coop in the fall, and accidentally disturbed a mouse nest with 5 pinky babies! Mom ran away, but I covered it back up and waited at a distance for Mom to come back. She never did, and it was cold out... after a few hours they were at risk of dying from exposure. (I googled how long pinkies can survive without Mom and it was getting close to that time limit.) Fortunately I'm a retired vet tech, and already had small syringes and bottles I've used to feed orphaned squirrel kits. So my husband ran out to the store for me for kitten formula while I set up their nest in a pocket pet carrier with a heating pad beneath it. I bottle fed all 5 and raised them to adulthood with minimal handling to keep them wild. I soft released them at the edge of my property in the woods with a sturdy wooden mouse house (much like a bird house) that we had built for them and they were already used to sleeping in. Since they didn't have a food stash like wild mice make we put food out within foraging distance to their house every day all winter, until spring and wild berries were out. Every now and then at dusk I could see them running and playing by their house. Hopefully they'll live long happy wild mouse lives. : ) I had never bottle fed something so small before! But I'm glad we didn't let them die. Many of my friends though I was crazy, but like you I just can't ignore an animal in need. And now I can sleep at night knowing I did my best for them. : ) Enjoy your mouse babies! Oh, and a small warning Hannah: if there are multiple males they might have to get separated when they reach adulthood if they fight. And if there's a female you'll have more babies fast if she isn't separated. If you choose to release them, you can do a soft release by putting their enclosure outside with food, let them decide to leave when they are ready, and then remove the enclosure one it's empty but keep putting food out for a few days until they learn how to forage. Feeding them items they can find in the wild will help teach them what to look for. Things like seeds, berries, mealworms, and local nuts in shells like walnut and hickory nuts. Hope that helps!
Such a wholesome story 🥺
People like you give me faith in humanity. I love that you saved these little babies and went to such trouble to keep them alive. Good job!
I can't get over Matt being jealous 😭🤣 so cute
I also love how Matt jumps in to help, whereas many people (my husband included) just consider mice to be pests to be terminated. It seems like Matt and Hannah are truly made for each other, he seems just as loving and positive and silly as Hannah. I adore them together! ❤️
Just when I thought I couldn’t love and respect you anymore you have once again blown my mind. Thank you for saving the lil babies❤️❤️
I already love you but this makes me love you even more. Very heartwarming see you in the height of your humanitarianism. I love your perseverance when you get an idea and your determination to follow through on it. I also love how you find ways to use a creation even if it doesn't turn out the way you originally intended. Never would have thought to use a wood round to fashion an exercise wheel for mice. It was definitely fun watching you trial and err your way through it. Kudos to you Hannah. Nicely done on all counts. Oh, and I think you get brownie points in heaven for this kind of good deed.

Thank you, Hannah, for this utter wholesomeness. Very much needed in the world we live in right now.
This whole mouse thing is beyond comprehension.
You're the sweetest and not in the slightest bit stupid. When so many of us are afraid to, you're trying and learning. You're creating a beautiful life for yourself. And your willingness not only to try new things but open yourself up to the judgement of strangers is a freakin superpower. Today I'm doing instead of planning and analyzing and you're to thank for that.

Didn't think I could love you and your channel more - but... now I do! This was so amazing of you. So happy you're taking care of those sweet little babies.
Omgoodness this is the sweetest, most thoughtful, loving, and adorable thing I’ve seen in long while. You are an incredible-one-of-a-kind human Hannah. Those little mouse babies are so blessed to have crossed paths with you. Their mouse mama left them in such good hands. Thank you for sharing!💕🐭🐭🐭💕
Such a lot of loving work you have been doing! I know these baby mice appreciate the chance to live, I also hope the mama is somewhere out there safe and just couldn't find her way back. Such a sweet and cute little video!
That is a myth that an animal will reject the baby if a human touches them, just FYI. :) But, i would be careful with the different chemicals you are using around them-glue, cleaning etc...they chew and lick EVERYTHING!!!
Wow that's dedication, good for you. Not many people would do the same. Can't wait to see how it turns out

This is some perhaps useful information about hantavirus from someone that had it last year.
Your risk of getting it while renovating the cabins is the highest. Breathing in dust containing mice residues is the number one reason people get hanta. Nevertheless you can get it anywhere where mice live that carry the virus. I randomly got it last year simply because I was outside for a few hours in an high risk area. I went to the hospital to be monitored (this is the European health care standart in case you are in need of dialysis). Wasn't fun but everything went fine and I didn't need anything apart from pain medication due to the very strong headaches I had which made me nauseous.
If you ever feel sick, have a huge urge to drink water and suddenly are peeing a lot less than you should, then please go to hospital as soon as possible. This is the symptom you get if you have kidney failure and there is a high probability that you are in need of dialysis. If it is hanta it is only temporary and will be just fine after your body has battled the infection. But if left untreated you can get permanent kidney failure and worst case even kill you.
Best protection against hanta is to wear a face mask when dealing with dusty situations.
If you get hantavirus a huge plus is that you get a high probability of beeing able to fight off other variants or getting a mild case. If it's the European variant you also have a high probability of a life long immunity against this variant.
I personally am happy that I had it because of the benefits i now have while traveling. But I am well aware that I am very privileged due to the public health care system here.
Fun fact's: A lot of people had it without even knowing because they didn't have any symptoms. You can get tested for immune cells.

You can make a wheel using heavy gauge wire and an empty tin can. Remember as soon as they get teeth , they will chew up anything made of wood in one night.

You are so wonderful for taking care of her babies❣🥰 😍 i absolutely LOVE what you've done so far!!! My first thought was maye the momma mouse had to get out so she could find something to chew on to keep her evergrowing teeth trimmed and the other thing was a wooden wheel (without any wires or bumps in it, cork lining for them to run on is best) to get their energy out. I had to adopt my granddaughter's hamster, and that is something I found out was important to these adorable little rodents. I learned on CZcams how to care for him. Yeah I always feel slightly sad when I catch a mouse. They are cute little fellers. But they bring fleas to my dogs. And one time I caught one on the sticky pad and I felt so bad that I couldn’t get him off so I procrastinated having to smash him but when I went back outside he was eaten. Which made me realize I have 2 small (6”) owls living in my backyard. Plus mice stop being so cute when you find turds under your couch, kitchen drawers, left out food, and pots/pans.
