So in the show, Time Roulette is something Joey did in a good chunk of his duels in seasons 1 and 2, using the monster Time Wizard in conjuction with Baby Dragon. Basically, he relies on chance (i.e. Roulette) as thats basically his dueling gimmick. Like Kaiba's powerhouse dragons and Yami's protagonist ass-pulls.
So close to season 4, some of the best episodes in the entire series and an amazing performance from Takahata101. You're gonna love it.

As soon as episode 64 hits, the quality suddenly jumps to godlike and stays that way. No idea how that’s possible.

25:09 in the manga that's actually the final time Mai is ever mentioned/canonically relevant again from what I remember. Even in the 2016 flim that used the OG cast which was for the 20th anniversary, Mai wasn't even mentioned by Joey, or any form of a cameo.

Also, as a fun fact, the Creator originally wanted Joey to win the battle city tournament.
Gene Simmons is the lead singer of Kiss and he sued many people for a lot of dumb things to make a lot of money. He patented the word oj because he found out noone did and got paid every time someone used it in a commercial or show
12:30 If I'm not wrong this episode was supervised by Takahiro Kagami. That's still a top 10 Yugioh episode in terms of artwork, I wish he would've done more episodes for the franchise.
Now that S3 ended, this is the perfect time to watch the both YGO abridged movies, The Piramid of Light and BBT, this last one, has a reference to the villain from S4
I would suggest waiting til the end of the orichalcos arc for BBT. That way that one joke has more of a punch.
Pyramid of light is best watch now, though.
Kinda surprised you didn't know 'Time Roulette Go' considering not only was that Joey's phrase every time he used Time Wizard's effect in season 1, but he's even said it in previous episodes of this series.
23:48- Yeah, the irony is that after spending so many years taking potshots at 5D's, it wound up being one of LK's favorite YGO shows.
They had Mai and Bakura in a coma yet the helicopter didn't take them off to a hospital at all, doubtful it would have taken Joey either had he not woken up.

"Time Roulette Go"
He has a card called Time Wizard. In the real game you flip a coin. If you guess right you destroy all of your opponent's monsters. If you mess up, all of your monsters are destroyed and iirc you lose half of their combined ATK to your life points.
Joey usually wins duels by using Time Wizard to turn his Baby Dragon into Thousand Dragon, and he says “Time Roulette Go” to activate that ability

“Time Roulette Go” is an attack from a monster known as Time Wizard that’s based on a 50/50 chance of destroying all your opponents monsters. But if you’re unlucky then the effect will be used on you and it can be devastating.
P.s. the actual 4kids dialogue was actually true because the American voice actor was trying to make it sound more dramatic.

The Marik face shot is an homage to Evangelion. It's a common angle to reference
Time Roulette Go is a reference to an earlier episode when Joey used his Time Wizard against Rex Raptor

Several things here:
If you want to expend your Yu Gi Oh Abriged experience: the videos of Marik evil concil 1 to 5 are a fun ride. (It's kinda in continuity and introduce the villain from the next season... Kinda...)
And expend on the bro/couple relation of Marik and Bakura.
You also have the really fun ride that is the Marik plays.
And of course, Most important of all: the Yu Gi Oh movies.
Good luck understanding the next villain when you had so much problem with evil Marik 😂😂 thankfully there's subs

The opening as a full song has some nice buildup and the chorus is wonderfully cheesy, but the bit he cut out isnt that effective by itself.
Still works as a short intro i guess.

Season 3 was great but season 4 is on a whole different level in my opinion. Plenty to look forward to.
Time roulette is a childrens trading card.
Yeah yami marik is an absolute psychopath. The idea is he actually likes the pain he’s going through. Also imagine playing for your life against someone who makes those crazy eyes and faces like that while you’re trying to save yours and your best friends lives. Yeah maybe the faces are over the top but the actual show makes it work better

I know you don't get Bojack references from DBZA but you legit need to just react to the Bojack Unbound movie from DBZ. It was never covered in DBZA (it takes place right after Gohan defeated Cell which is where DBZA ends) but you would love it.
Weird she has never seen that movie considering Gohan is her favorite character and that movie is Gohan centric.

Okay before you watch the next episodes you should watch the Pyramid of Light Abridged episode which is the actual Yu-Gi-Oh movie which takes place right after this

I was wondering if you were going to react to the abridged movies? The pyramid of light movie happens before the next season so you could react to it next, and the bonds beyond time movie could be watched whenever now so you could watch it after.

They actually mentioned the Pharaoh's real name twice in the abridged series.
Some of them died less painful than others, did you not hear the pharaoh (LOL)
Also Joey appears in the poor sector of yu gi oh 5ds some ppl get his named confused and call him Jesse wheeler
There is a very good Yugioh Abridged Movie by LK, you should watch it! 100%, its divided into 3 parts but man it is worth it
It’s always creepy when a women in their mid- late 20s hit on high schooler boys. It’s worse when they make a plot point in a children’s cartoon shows. Mai is 24 and Joey is 16. Hey, it’s finally a situation worse than Sailor Moon where the guy is 16/17 and the girl is 15/16.
Card Captor Sakura is worse. The antagonist of the second season is physically the same age as Sakura, but ends up in a relationship with a female teacher who used to date Sakura's brother when he was younger.
I dont think an relationship between 16/17 and 15/16 is weird tho.

So the theory is that Joey did beat Yami to win back red eyes because in the next season of the actual anime we see Joey using red eyes again
