- The next episode of the monster series in which I run through the stat block of a Pathfinder 2e monster. A video about DINOSAURS! I have been watching Jurassic Park, a great source of inspiration!

"'Tyrannosaurus Rex' directly translates into 'Big Jerk'"
Me: *Checks notes* "Tyrannosaurus Rex" means "Tyrant Lizard King."

Comparing the owlbear between 5e and PF2e was the moment i could never go back
So many monsters in 5e are just multiple attack and HP
PF2e gives every creature something interesting, and often unique that helps make every combat different
Okay, this video has convinced me that PF2 is the better system to translate the monsters from "Monster Hunter" rather than D&D. That T-Rex combat tree was almost 1-to-1 how Deviljho fights in game. Thank you for the inspiration!😊
Considering there is rules on making weapons from monster parts then yeah pretty much.
I don't have a link but I feel like the subreddit had some good Monster Hunter conversions on it a year or two ago.
Can confirm a pack of deinonychus is a lot of fun to run, with them darting in and out of range whilst still getting off guard due to copious amounts of bleed damage inflicted. Very mobile fight, really forces the PCs to focus and use positioning to keep the number of enemy attacks per round down.
The Jurassic Park references are icing on the cake of a terrific episode.
Fantastic video, but I think if an enemy attack has 'grab' it means they automatically grab them on a successful attack, no roll necessary
You're right for now! However they're changing it for the remaster so they have to make a roll, so I try to include the updated rules when they come out.
@@KingOogaTonTonyup he will be right soon I am glad he did that
This was a lot of fun! It's crazy how a few simple mechanics can lead to such dynamic combat encounters with one enemy type. Still getting used to off guard meaning flat-footed, I was very confused for a second there xD
Counter point! At the time Michael Crititon wrote Jurrassic Park Deinychus was classified as a species of Velociraptor and wasnt changed for a few years after. So he was technically correct
This is great! I'm working on a homebrew dinosaur-themed setting and this is great for knowing how to pilot the default dinosaurs.
This series is absolutely BRILLIANT. If you keep this up, I think these videos will become an invaluable tool for new GMs. Just yesterday I ran my very first session and used tips from your goblin video to make combat dynamic, fun and challenging (but balanced) for both the players and myself.
p.s. dinasor
After watching GxK I propose a third result from the tyrannosaurus' grab ability... now how to give a t-rex the wrestler dedication
5:00 correct me if I'm wrong but "plus grab" means that the grab is automatically a success, no check needed.
It's a change from the revision coming this fall (like using off-guard instead of flat-footed)
That's a great video! I would love to see a video on the Dragons!!
That was fun!
Loving this series! Made me want to run a jurassic Park themed one shot. Definitely keep em coming!
minor correction: you can still Sneak to become undetected to a creature with imprecise scent, it's just that it'll be able to Seek you out before regaining line of sight (but still needs to have line of sight to detect you instead of just making you hidden again)
Awesome content! Please make more of this!
Very helpful videos, thank you!
Ok, If we are going to be bring up that the JP Velociraptors were based on Deinonychus, Then I will have to bring up that they were also a lot bigger than actual Deinonychus (Adult real ones were typically about the size of about 3 metres long (3.28084 feet)). While the movies are pretty good, They are wildly inaccurate (The original JP was pretty great compared to most dinosaur media of the time, But still had a lot of major known inaccuracies.)
really like your sense of hunor. Very fun video
Now i know how to remove all hope from my players with dinosaurs! Great vid, please make more like this with other types of monsters.
Please keep doing what you're doing with these videos!
AMAZING video. Please do the rest of the dinos or at least the spinosaurus.
We need a video showing how you create the art for these videos. 🎲👏
Yes, dinos YES!
What's your favorite dinosaur? I like the Stegosaurus.
Struthiomimus!
I thought the reflex being lowest save was cause it dosent have useable arms
Does the deino has to use and action to use the imprecise scent?
No, it's passive. It'll still have to seek if it can't circumvent the hidden in some other way though (such as just running around your cover like in the video). The sense only gives you the rough location (square).
