    This is great - thanks for putting together. Mt Alice + Chiefs Head from Wild Basin TH approach via Lion's Lake return Boulder-Grand Pass/Thunder Lake is my favorite day hike in the park. I haven't spent much time outside of Wild Basin (usually go to Indian Peaks) but am using this video as a guide to explore other parts of the park.

      That’s one hell of a day hike friend but sounds amazing :) Really wanted to spend time in the wild basin this year but work prevented me this time. Next summer gonna finish up the names lakes and want to also hit up Mt Alice, Pagoda, Chiefs Head and Eagles Beak near Moomaws Glacier 😀

    Awesome list Dave. When I first found your channel It was around the time you released the Frozen Lake video. The next weekend I went and did that hike and felt the same way. As soon as you get up above that waterfall the world changes. 100 percent the best experience I’ve had in my time in Co is up on that upper shelf alone surrounded by nothing but tundra and mountains. If it wasnt for your video I would have never went there so a big thank you. And congrats on passing 1k subs!

      Hey thanks Timothy - glad you got to experience the upper gorge. It’s such an amazing and unique part of the park for sure! Can’t wait to return there some day :)

    Love your channel! I’ve been to RMNP twice. I live in MO. My favorite hikes that I have done are Longs Peak and Sky Pond. Keep the videos coming!

    Amazing list Dave. Plan to hit two of them this summer. Some of my best hikes are in Indian Peak Wildness and hope to see more of your videos there. Lone Eagle Peak/Mirror Lake looks like a photographer’s dream

      Yes Jun! Lone Eagle Peak has been on my list for a few years now and always wanted to backpack/camp there. The pics and videos I seen of it are just amazing. :)

    The fact that you have Lisa Fosters book in the background says it all.

    Wow these hikes are amazing! Me and my brother are visiting RMNP this October! what campsite do you recommend we reserve if we want to the longspeak and glacier gorge hikes! Where did yall camp? Also not opposed to wilderness campsites!

    • @Davespates
      @Davespates  Před 3 lety +1

      Reserve any campsite you can. We did these all as day hikes. You may be able to get a campsite for longs peak though in the Boulder field, but I would contact the wilderness office. Camping was in a email lottery this year…

    Amazing. I wish I can do what you did. My knees hurts a lot now. I only did the Sky Pond with my 11 year recently. What exercise do you guys do to strengthen your leg muscle and reduce the knee injury? Thank you.

    • @Davespates
      @Davespates  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Jing! Emily and I are quite different with exercises. I do lots of running and strength training with deadlifts and squats as my main exercises. Emily does yoga, Barr, and other high intensity classes. I would pick something that you like doing though so you can stay consistent :)

    Is there a good offline gps map you use on your phone to determine where your location is and what lakes you're seeing or heading towards? Thank you!

    If you’re up there and way to far to get back is it okay to spend the night at one of these stops then going back ? Or is that illegal

    • @Davespates
      @Davespates  Před 2 lety

      You need a reservation well in advance and can only camp at designated campsites. There are also bivouc camping for climbers that also has to be booked in advance. But, if you are far and get injured or lost and need to survive, well, that's a different story. Be safe.
