Vaki is talented!
I agree. His hands are excellent too
You've earned my subscription. Solid content. Great breakdowns, and analysis.
Lotta good stuff from coach, welcome to his channel!
Betts looks good today especially that sack on Wentz in the 2nd quarter. Notice he was on the field a lot…
He's definitely on the 53
My takeaways are the lions have depth pieces that won’t even make the lions 53 man roster because of how talented it is that could make the 53 man roster on lesser teams 53 man roster the starting oline didn’t play the starting Quarterback was in street clothes watching his backup Quarterbacks force a second half comeback. No starting DBs outside of Amik Robertson touched the field and they still won
Careful how "deep" you think this team is. No WR 3, 4 or 5, no NFL quality backup O-linemen, no backup QB whatsoever (spare me the Hooker nonsense), no TE3, no DE opposite Hutch that's worth a damn, DT2 already hurt indefinitely, LB 3, 4 and 5 are all subpar at best, and several top DB's are hurt/looking incredibly outmatched through 2 preseason games. Oh, and our K is missing XP's already.
It's looking great.
@@Bluebloods7 Is the team better than last year's team? If so then they have a chance to do equally as well or better than that team
@Bluebloods7 I thought I was a whiner, but good lord you're insufferable
@@Bluebloods7you seem insufferable to be around. Kinda guy to complain if we won by 40 but still threw a random pick.
@@Bluebloods7 you don’t know squat.. lol can tell you don’t know the team.. most of all our players are young so they just growing.. it’s only year 3 lol you must be a casual who just talking out his ashhh
I was watching a KC video and they were talking about how great Patrick Mahomes is because he threw the ball behind his back. At least that makes them happy.
@@Brent6437 they do anything to milk and stroke mahomos ego and story
gawk gawk mahomy
😂
@@Brent6437 lmao you think any chiefs fan gives a shit that they lost this game. Hang the banner on a worthless preseason win 😂
@@SycoticForeverNeverAF calm down tiger. Lol 🤣
I was hard on Manu last week. He looked a lot stronger, better leveraged, and quicker with his footwork.
Vaki is gonna be so good!
I expect Johnson will have him all over the field, RB, slot& wide too.
Which is what you want to see with high ceiling players
Yeah O-line looked a LOT better in this game.
Manu played a little better, but he still gave up a sack
Another excdllent breakdown by coach
That should be the last of Nate Sudfeld see ya buddy....Hooker is the #2 by a mile. Vaki looks legit but to be fair it was all down under stuff. With all the 2nd and 3rd string, practice squad guys on the field on defense they looked pretty dang good. They were in position most of the night. I think our defense is gonna be very much upgraded from last year, maybe top 10 in the league.
Vaki looks very slow to me. /Shrug
@@Bluebloods7he only looks slow because our oline isn't blocking for him our second unit is a joke we need depth asap
@@Bluebloods7Vaki had one of fastest timed runs in college football last year. He looked fast on that 2 minute drive out running just about everyone he came in contract with 6 catches 40 yards was excellent.
I'm not sure what you were watching...sounds made up
@@jaybrick8973 Every team in the NFL has that problem. There just are not that many Elite - Good O-linemen (hence why they are such a commodity).
I thought the same thing. Not sure if I was expecting more. But yes he looked really slow.@Bluebloods7
Vaki getting 80 yards on 10 touches per game would do wonders for keeping Gibbs and Monty fresh. It doesn't sound like much but two drives a game isn't much work. All he needs to do is get his pass blocking up to speed.
I'm ok with Hendon Hooker as QB2. He'll get more reps which is what he needs most.
Isaiah Williams won't make it through waivers. He's solid enough to be WR4 and backup returner. I don't expect a ton out of him for the season, but in the rare times the Lions bring out four wideouts, I won't count him being on the field as a waste of time and an automatic drop.
If you watch his college highlights he is amazing on check downs and short passes I think he'll be a lot more impactful than people think if not this year next year
@@krash22mini72 I agree, I’m just looking at a reasonable role. Just the 10 for 80 would be a ton all season long. Pass blocking kept Gibbs from getting carries early last season, so I’d expect Vaki will have to get proficient to get that.
Hey Coach I heard you are going to be on Will Rocks show. I can’t wait. Will is a class act dude. You guys will be great together.
Yo boss can we get a Matthieu Betts film session from this game. I thought he looked good all day rushing the passer besides just the one sack!
The backup offensive line for the Lions looked very good in pass pro!!!
Hooker and Vaki need to be on the field together next week
I don't know why Hooker isn't playing the first half. Sudfeld did play better but he still didn't impress me much while Hooker looks good for a rookie basically who hadn't even played in almost 2 years
@@robnewsome2407something going on with Hooker and coaches ?? Why does Hooker not get a chance to start ? This coaching staff has their heads up their asses if they don't see that ! Hooker can be a star in this league !
@@justinb6379giving sudfield a fair look for 3 games
I love how balanced your videos are. Thanks for the great content, Coach!
Scared when Ukwu took that cutblock, looked like he never even thought that was a possibility and was runnin on fumes at the end
Lions coaching staff showed this game
Thanks once more coach, had my NMLS SAFE test today before the game ergo: braindead. This'll make watching the recording so much better!
Accept for that first high pass by Hooker, I thought he played well. Sudfeld was better but still wasn't very impressive to me. I agree, I think Isaiah Williams solidified a spot on this roster and Vaki played well again
Sudfield had 2 good passes. Other than that, he can't read the field. He can only go off of 1 read. His throws are scripted. Hendon goes through his progressions and has really nice pocket presence.
@@thenickfoxx yes, and all he threw was dinks and dunks, Hooker has the arm and the legs so he just needs to work on his pro game now. He'll be the best back up in the NFL within a couple years and will be ready to step in after Goffs contract is up. Goff was smart getting that no trade clause, he could feel Hooker coming behind him
That was fun
Got back from the Todd Helton Day game in Coors Field...time to dig into the Lions coverage. And of course you're my 1st stop. Thanks.
Sione Vaki played Safety and RB in college, I'm guessing that him playing safety has helped him understand defensive leverages and tendencies tremendously. Was high on him coming out of college and I remember mocking him to the ravens a few times, glad he went to the lions!
Love the city skyline intro!!!
Liked your take, personally I think our first team should have gotten a drive or two. defensively but our secondary was hurt so I understand
Completely unnecessary to play the starters. Sunday 8pm, Sept 8th we will see em all
@@codynevers51 Hopefully they will be in mid-season form.Go Lions
o7 thanks as always Coach
HENDON HOOKER!!!!!!!!!!! man imagine him with the first string WOW..hes our most talented QB by far. Man I can only imagine smh....he will get his chance
...
Bro....
@@STREAMSONLY-vt6gx I said what I said and meant it..could care less about your "bro...." and the other dude typing all periods like that's gonna make me change what I said.
@@detroitlionspistonstigersr6735I mean what you said was…interesting. You claim a guy who wildly throws inaccurate balls to even wide open receivers is by far the most talented QB on the roster. I mean athletically sure. But…that’s it. The only chance he’ll get to start for this team is if Jared gets hurt and we all better pray that never happens because superbowls are out the window if he’s out.
@@Jonathan-cz4ky exactly.
I thought of you every time Funk made a play.
Nice, was a good preseason game.
Dudfield just killing me man, best thing he did was handoff that sweep to Isaiah Williams. Great depth win today, loved what that crew got done today.
What’s narrators name?
Coach

Hooker is 1 read, then run, and when he tries to go to read 2 or 3 he holds the ball WAY too long. Let's knock off the nonsense that he has the slightest clue how to play NFL QB. He was a cutesy BHolmes pick, same as Vaki, Manu, Levi, etc. The guy hits absolute HR's on so many draft picks, but totally threw away all these picks used on these guys (and then inexplicably gives up additional draft capital for jokes like Manu and Vaki). Infuriating.
I think you get infuriated too easily my friend. Hooker has all the tools, he just needs more experience, he'll become a very serviceable QB2.
I smell a TROLL
I got nothing for you here Blue, this is a weird series of posts to make. Saw the one you put up last week. At this rate, you will need another account to comment here.
Lions on the Hunt
Me and you are on the same page.
Wasnt huge on paschal, but only pick that made me scratch my head was martin. At the time, and even now I believe it was a reach. Josh looks better nowadays so I hope Brodric can do the same.
