The Jamaica Gleaner had a series of articles some years back (still available online, I think) about the different people groups who came or were brought to Jamaica to live, &, in the article about the Irish immigrants, there was the claim that Jamaican patois had formed out of the Irish brogue contribution into the dialect, J E. The influence was easy to transpire because many Irish were said to have been enslaved alongside the Africans who were enslaved. So you are on to something there! ☺👍
I love history & to really know history is to rise above ignorance.

My mother was one of these to emigrate with her father from Hakka speaking Southern China. She married a Jamaican man, then they emigrated to Canada much later on. I've never been to Jamaica, but my father who returned back there says it's not the country he grew up in in the 40s and 50s. The elder women is wise she understands that Slavery is not necessarily a racial or discriminating issue but a people issue motivated primarily by taking advantage for profit and not by prejudice as is often wrongly viewed among the masses. In reality no matter your colour or where you come from at some point in History all have been slaves and slavers even to their own peoples and many even to this day to our shame still remain in bondage to that sordid practise.

@@thatguybutitsactuallyagirl5384 You know that Irish people before and during the slave trade were enslaved too right? Whites Black's, Arabs it made no difference to those doing the enslaving who were funnily enough Whites, Black's and Arabs. This is my point racism was most certainly prevalent don't get me wrong but slavery was exclusively a monetary system. As i stated in my previous comment every people of this Earth if you go back into their History have been slaves and enslavers. Slavery was not a racial issue by and large that is a more modern concept of the trade as at the time the slave trade was a legal global system of trade and aquisition of barter with most global people's being involved in one form or another. Sub Saharan Africans themselves were heavily involved in the slave trade kidnapping and selling their own people off for technological and monetary gain. As were the Arabs who were one of the largest and longest players and contributors within the trade. I stick by my statement that slavery is a people issue and that the women in this video understands that.

If it was easier to get people from Atlantis, they would've gone there. It's all about money. Ease of acquisition for profit. That's why when/if it was easier to get Native American slaves, then there were Native American slaves at the selling stall. And when the opportunity presented itself to easily get some Irish slaves to sell? Then there were some Irish slaves at the selling stall. You get what I'm saying? They enslaved anyone who didn't have the means to defend themselves and wasn't already dead from Old World diseases. And Africa was the easiest place to get people who fit that criteria.

Go back and read your own history. Indentured servitude and chattel slavery are not the same and should not be compared, especially by the cultures that perpetrated it. There is a difference between volunteering oneself to be owned for a set period of time and being kidnapped and owned, your children being owned, their children and and so own for hundreds of years.

  • @adriandanekennym.d.1185

2:31 so white refers to race not to ethnicity. so a group of white people may have different ethnicities.
