When you’re drifting without the shell, the car becomes less stable, the shell is alot of weight, but it helps to stabilise the car. I think the reason why it helped you is that you dialed the motor limit back, just my opinion tho, if it helps you, good for you :)
How about sharing how you coordinate the throttle and steering inputs to achieve a smooth drift?

An explanation of brushless motor is it has no brushes unlike brushed it creates more friction , uses a lot of power, there’s less friction and it is faster and better than brushed.
Are you using a Gyro? Awesome drifting and video as well. What is that on the floor, cardboard?

Where did you order cardboard on floor with those kinds of dimensions
Brushless motors are low/zero maintenance versus brushed motors... that's the main advantage as well as being smoother for better coasting
Is there a reason to set up the cardboard for drifting? Is the bare hardwood floor harder to drift?
