Sony had such a distinct sound signature from JBL that it seemed as if those two were speaking two different languages..! Sony is apparently absorbed in competing with its former self rather than with other brands and has admittedly done quite a good job so far.

I think the sony xg-500 is much stronger in the range of 60-200 Hz. Overall, the bass is a lot more powerful and the Boombox 2 just has more deep bass. In addition, the sony has 70 watts in battery mode, while the jbl boombox 2 has a modest 60 watts. In the end, we come to the conclusion that the JBL boombox is suitable for use at home with a socket with 80 watts and deep bass, which, by the way, can spread extremely well. Whereas the sony does not get any performance boost at the socket and therefore performs equally well for outdoor use. The Sony scores points in that it reproduces the middle gear and high bass frequency ranges excellently and thus has a high level of dominance in public.

So I recently purchased this speaker, and the sound is amazing, but the mid tones have to be adjusted with your phone settings and app. But is seems to me that Sony did this purposely. Now when I paired this speaker to the XB43, the sound is epic and flawless. You get the clear midtones from the XB43 and the deep, deep bass and acoustics from the XG500, and it sound is like being at a concert. I feel that they did this purposely for the party connect, and it works. If you have the side to side setting on your phone, it sounds much better that the wide surround sound also.

Sony has more bass, i tested it in real life with my sony srs xb43 and someone's jbl on the go and extreme 3. Both jbl could not handle the bass of sony's srs xb43. U just need to set the EQ on sony's app to 10. And even with trebble on 10, the sony will sound more clear and better on the high's than jbl

I have the Sony xb43 I set my equalizer to positive 3 on the base five on the mids and for on the tremble positive 3 on the base gives you deeper base than 10 it's a weird equalizer it was proven on a frequency scale 10 is Muddy and not as clean just more boomy it's personal preference and my Extreme 2 has better base than my Sony 43 and they're both broken in no matter how I set the EQ JBL has better Bass do you know JBL Xtreme 2 is 15 decibels up on the lower base than the Sony and this Sony is 10 decibels up on the upper base I love them both but I find myself listening to the Sony more the 43 is more open a little louder with a wider soundstage if you put your tremble on 10 it runs the base and mid-range response on a frequency scale it shows 364 is the best balanced sound and to my own listening experience also did you say the 43 has better bass than JBL Xtreme 3 if so what kind of bass sub middle-upper the sub-base on Extreme three blows away the Sony the Sony has a better mid-bass kick but after 80% on the Extreme 3 the base disappears and then there the Sony's better at full volume

Maybe u need to update your speaker or check if your phone has Dolby atmos. I have set Dolby atmos to film, and its really good. Also, trebble on 10 is really good and Just to make it more ballanced, set the middle on 4, if u go higher, it will sound dumb.

Sony xg 500 will never perform worse outside than a jbl boombox 2. Simple and easy explanation .. deep bass can no longer really spread and that is why the jbl bobox has a big disadvantage, because that is exactly the strength of the speaker, whereas the Sony is more likely to play 60-200 Hz just fine. in addition, the sony has 70 watts per battery and the jbl 60 watts.

Im a bass lover. And bass is what’s important for me first and formost. JBL has stole my heart. Especially the boombox 2. You can litterly feel the bass in your ears from that speaker. Kinda like the bass you hear in your car. Makes it feel more valuable in my opinion. Its incredible to achieve that kinda bass from
This speaker as well as portability. However keep in mind that the bass is best when you put the speaker against a wall or in the corner of the room you are in because than the speaker can use the walls to spread out the bass even farther.

Agreed. The XG500 sounds like someone is singing with a face mask on. Highs and mids are muffled and the lower bass is lacking compared to the Boombox 2. This results in the BB2 sounding more open, refined and more mature in the way that it has some deep rumble.
